I have 2 black books.

My 1st one is just a composition notebook, i just scetch in it while im at home or where ever.

Then Some guy gave me a Mini bible thing, and I cut out all the pages, and put some blank paper in it, and made a makeshift notebook kinda. And when i go out to tag, i just take a look at my mini blackbook. Its about 2 x 3 or 4 so its relitively small. I just put my tags in there.

Lol. This is a funny thread. I thought I was the most toy writer here, but you need a definition of a blackbook. Pshhh.

Ha. Anyways, I had to get like 8 spirals for school, and they only asked for 2. So now I have 6 spiral notebooks lyin around. So I use those mostly. I do have a blackbook, but I'm only just now writin in it. I carry around my spirals, not my black book.

I think I'm gonna do somethin similar to what a guy on the first page said and I'm gonna fold some paper and make a mini bible. That way I can carry that around and not look suspicious when I glance at it for help on my bombs/pieces.

Just do whatever. I grab some paper from my printer and use that when I want some legit lookin art. Than I shove the paper in my portfolio. (a cheap ass folder)

I suggest you get a portfolio, too. For when you do a tight-ass sketch on some paper and you want to be able to show it off later. They're pretty nice to have around imo.

maybe i didnt understand you correctly but if you bring ANYTHING with you that you have written on when you go bombing that is one of the stupidest things you can do, if you get arrested and they find that on you they'll look for other shit like it and book you for that too same goes for cell phones with pictures and digital cameras, if i just misunderstood my bad

I use a hardbound sketchbook just for convenience, it's kinda nice to be able to open it up and flip through looking at your past work instead of just having a bunch of papers around everwhere..

yeah silly, you use a pencil. you're not going to be dope your first time and graf skills don't come over night kid. just sketch it with penc, then use pen/marker, then the 3D, then colors. that's all you need to know now. and everyone will tell you, dont mess with add-ons yet. till you get good.

Just start off with printing paper when you get skillz just start tagging in a black book but be sure to put only your best pieces in it also have friends or crew memberz graff in it too. My black book is kinda like a big bible with blank drawing pages you can get them at Hobby Lobby for 15$. I also sketch out what im going to put in their before i actually do. :blink:

today I went to miachels craft store to look for markers. as soon as I walked in I saw a black book in a plastic wraper along with a blank sketching pad and a blank drawing book. the sticker said $29.98 value and then under it I saw was only ten bucks!!! I was like NO WAY to good to be true! Looked around the store for awhile for poster/wood markers (markwells basically) and glue pen/markers (empty molotow markers basically) found them, headed to the sketch book area and saw that ever shitty black sketch book was over 15 bucks. so as I went to leave I got it and am glad I did its really nice. for all the kids who dont rack everything I suggest it. you cant beat ten bucks for all that stuff honestly. no regrets here, I love it already.

But for all you kids who need to rack markers check out miachels they got a shit ton around. cop em all, sell most of them and then keep a couple for yourself. but the glue pen nib is nice. :)

i use a A4 size art books and i have a A3 size aswell plastic cover and hard back aswell as spiralled in so lots of protection and it don't break easy.

must have for anybody i sketch everytime im bored got a couple spread over my house in my room on the computer in the bathroom

Step two: look around, ask for if they have the canson black books
step three: if they have it, scope it out, look for a nice isle with out cameras
step four: go home, and go to the store the next day, but bring a nice big black plastic bag, be sure you cant see through the bag

step six: slip book into bag

nahhhh blackbooks aint that much u can get them 5-10$ depending on size
my school sells them for 6$ and my mom has got me one on clearance for as low as 2$
for me getting blackbooks is easy people in school taking art in gr10 or 11 just for fun will always abandon them at the end of the year with little over 1/8 of the book used so its basically brand new. take a search round art rooms at school theres usually old ones lying around from students who dropped out well maybe thats just my school but still

A black book is a homemade sketch book. Get some unlined photocopy paper and some cardsheet for a cover.

The hardest part is making book binding glue:
You need some bleach and ammonia, and some woodworking or animal glue. A little red wax is nice too.
You take a container and pour in about a cup of each ammonia, bleach and woodworking glue and a little wax if you want.
Keep a eye on the mixture, its important to stay nearby and mix it.
Keep stirring until the mixture is uniform.

You will now have a strong thin glue, a little hint of red to it if you added the wax.

Take about 100 sheets of photo paper and fold the card sheet around it as desired for your cover, then cut away the excess of paper.
Paint the inside of the "spine", the middle of the cover were the paper touches, with the glue mixture then fold the cover around the paper again with the paper firmly pressed against the spine.

Put a brick on it to press it down and leave it for 2 days, save the excess glue in your fridge with a cover over top in case you didnt bind the book right and need to try again.

I got so much art stuff from my aunt and among it was a hardcover sketch book... it's good (the pages barely bleed through) but the only problem is that it has rings, which have been smashed about after a while... so I recommend against getting one with rings or a spiral.
