basically my bro used to draw a lot as a hobby but it wasnt graffiti. Being the younger one, u always try to imitate what ur older bro was doing. I tried drawing but i sucked ass. I still do...anyways, i always used to see graffiti around my town but it was some sucky ass toy shiz. But, it inspired be nonetheless. I suppose i wanted to try graffiti since i was a piece of crap at drawing objects and anime characters or whatever u wanted to draw like trees or whatever. Haha, guess i wanted to show my bro up. I never really did get into...i just looked at it and was like, "hey, thats cool...even though it looks funky....and it is illegal...cool." So i decided to buy the game Jet Grind Radio for dreamcast and i think the designs and that badass game is what inspired me the most. I fricken beat the game and was looking at all the designs and tried to note what was what and how it could have been done. There were many different styles so the best thing i could do at the moment was to create my own. I was a piece of crap toy in the beginning....as is everyone....but kept on practicing and practicing and praciting and..........
I was running "STEALTH" back then...and now, i have the names Craze/Sare under my belt. im not a fricken king of the streets or anything close to that but i can hold my own. at least i am out of the toy stage.

Honestly i think what first sparked my interest was the opening theme to "Fresh Prince of BelAir" after that whenever i saw my mom had a can of spray paint that was not in use anymore id steal it and write somthing stupid on a wall downtown like FUCK THE WORLD or somthing totally fucked up. the adreniline i got was too mint to pass up so it became a bigger thing to me. it died down slightly for a few years then an aquaintence of mine got busted and i found out his tag name, then i started really really noticing it around the city.
next i got huge in the markering, like washrooms and doors with a shitty tag that changed like every 2 days. once i realized im wasting my time being a vandal i learned the artistic side of graff and since then i been into it for real.

Mannn i used to be into graff (back in like 7th grade when I thought Crips and gangs were related to it)--and I just was mesmerized by the shit, so I tagged up my middle school with gang shit and eventually got caught--stopped for a year--then came 9th grade when I started seeing 106 shit scratched up in the HS' bathrooms--Looked into it--it was WND 106 (why not die, writers never die--they used to get up down here back in the 90's)--anyway I immersed myself in the shit, took a trip to NYC and checked up on FE and MOO throwing up in south west/south manhatten and also in queens--n it just took off from there.
I started talking to Huez one, Bace, SUMR, RND, BNC crew from Minneapolis, tried to get into contact with WND but still nothin--Just trying to learn up since there isnt shit for writers here to pass on the history
So in other words, still getting into it and trying to get others into it, gotta keep the scene alive cause graff cant fuckin die! :)

i really dont remember. it was probably at the end of the last summer when my older sister got into hip hop music.
i started listening to music then i got into it all and it was like a whole nother world. started paying attention to what was all around me, even though i never payed attention to it before. thought was pretty sweet.
i sketched random letters, and i came up with "chirip" which sounded like "trip" when you said it out loud. i wenth through MANY names before i came to the one i have now.
first time i wrote on a wall was when i found a black pilot in my dads garage. the whole school hated our principal and the mucic teacher, so i wrote "fuck ms [music teacher], and [principal] too" it got buffed the next day and the whole school was practically on lockdown.
couple months later we had "NWA" and "CRIPS" written on our school in blue, and thats when i started noticing other hip-hop groups life LFA and DOVK down here.

for me it was when i was 8 and my friends older brother was bombing "dtf" down to fuck or w/e. he bombed it all over my shitty little down. at the time it was the shit cuz i
always loved vandalism. but i also appreciated it for it's skill and dedication it took into making the shit look hot. as toyish as it may sound, if someone can tag better than you, they deserve your respect. that is if your a real writer and not some asshole buffer who hates. i started drawing at that time, now years later my drawing skills are tight as hell but my tagging's still a little toyish. i'll admit it. cuz it's about getting up not being down.

THen in 8th grade i would write on the bathroom walls, but after about a month of that stoped, and am now getting back in and actually more serious about it

Back in the day I used to see Graf on tranes and walls and everything, and back in my home town, there was this train station i passed everyday, and this one wall was just amazing. I was like "damn, people did this, this shit will be here for a while, and its really damn nice". And later i found out my friend was a writer, and he saw some of my sketches and it started from there.

I've always been into Art. Even at a very young age I could draw better than most people of my age. Recently though I've hit a artist's block; I needed something to fill the gap between Manga and what comes next. After playing "Getting Up" I decided that it was Graffiti.

ever since i was a kid loved art ,it's all I did in math class, probly why I'm kinda dumb in math today... but my parents used to bitch all the time about getting caught by trains at the crossings ..tehn mt brother and sister and I started noticing all the (pretty pictures) on the box cars
and we turned it into an art show ...then my parrents started getting caught by trains on purpose..weird I still do that to this day...but it never dawned on me i could do that too ,untill the first of this year..now I got stuff on trains and maybe some little kids are seeing it ...

I got started with the writing scene late..I mean i`ve always had artistic interest in life since I was a lil ***** and graffiti was always around me, so it was about ohhh..2002 I was a freshmen in High School the first writers I met were Misk1 *Pasadena California* and Hi-Lo1 *Pasadena*, I fell in love with how crazy the letters would be..so I got into it..stopped within 3 months..stayed away from for some years then I recently got back into in mid 04..laid off of it for a while..and got back into last year and I`m sticking with it..it was a love and hate situation for me but I`ve noticed my progress over the few months on the contrary of the previous years so there still hope for me in the game LOL..but yeah..those writers got me into graffiti..

I was always into art, and art class in junior high and high school. I would have to say i really got the fire when i moved to S.F, found myself homeless for like 8 months. Got into watching guys like twist, fresh out the art academy doing his thing, and others in the soma area, and mission. Those streets was the best class i ever attended. I use to live in a warehouse on the corner of sixth and natoma, on the backside of the warehouse i got to see GIANT do a beatiful bomb on or place. late night in the tunnel after the bart stopped running, throwing up on the walls of ocean beach, it was the best times. Out of all the time i was there it seemed like i never slept......Good times

My facination with graffiti started not with the endless bombed walls you may see in big cities such as NY or LA but with huge single throwies and unoticed aerosol tags on trains that passed on the tracks by my house. Ever since Ive been taggin places.
i was acctually introduced when i went downtown with my elementary school to go see a play. right then i loved it :] but only recently started to write

then i start to spray it on the wall

everyone reject me, they said "it was an unresponsible thing"

my close friends are

I got into it years back when I met this guy Mykro. Honestly, I looked up to the guy like a big brother... So I wanted to do the shit that he was doing. He taught me a lot about the hip-hop scene and graffiti. We used to hit up shows on a regular basis, and also hung out with a good friend who writes Metryk. A couple years back I moved away, and our friendship kinda fell apart... But I still have tons of respect for him.

and some dudes broke into the big lunchroom thing and bombed the canteen roller door
i heard someone talking about graffiti
i asked what graffiti was
they told me
"its when someone writes a word as messily as possible on a wall"
i thought it was hell cool
so i held that thought and some years later i became a tagger

was messing around in my art class at boarding school one day, i was twelve. i went outside after class and was spraying stuff in the snow.
few days later i tagged the outside wall of the gym at school, and just went from there.
i'm 18 now, been doing it six years.

Actually how I got in to it is since I was 8 there has been a sweet throwie next to my dads work building and I thought about the culture and stuff until I was about 12 then I got into it. If i has a digi camera I would post the throwie but it is blue and orange and real swirly and the writer put his name in the middle of the swirls but it is on a roof top and I have been meaning to go up there and see the writers name but never have got around to it to bad there is no scene in my city or I proably could find him and learn some techqniqs. ;)

This is kind of weird but me and m mom where driving hrough SF when I was about 14 or 15 and we stoped at a red light and I used to draw when I was in the car so I had a pad and some markers. I looked over to the side and I saw a throw up on a roll up door that I thought looked really cool so Itryed to copy it and when that came out preety good I started to tweak it a little day by day make it alittle different each time till I finally have come up with my own stlye it's vary simple but it gets the job done. I wish I could rember the name of the writer that I first tryed to copy his/her stlye cause I'd like to shake there hand.

I also got interested because of "Marc Ecko's Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure"
I'm still just, a complete and total toy. I have no idea what the hell to write and I'm just losing my mind trying to figure out something oringal without nicing someone else's work or name.

I just go into it because i though it looked awsome and wanted to be part of it. i started noticing graff around the 4/5th grade when KATCH was doing his thing on oahu. I saw that first mural and knew i wanted to do it. This was about the same time they started pressing that graffiti is a crime brainwash BS on us. I even had to write an essay on why graffiti is a crime. Im a junior in highschool now and i still love graff as much as i ever have.

I'm sorry man, I just had to lash out when I read your post. I don't really have anything good to say about that video game, and a big reason why I don't want this graffiti video game to exist is because graffiti needs to stay the way it is. Tag an ecko clothing factory and watch that shit get buffed.

wtf is that supposed to mean. You got into graff because you played a videogame on ps2 while real writers were out living the game.

Nah it's cool. You don't really approve of how the game does it? True, no government I know is so corrupt that they would have ops set up to kill off the very people who they are supposed to protect. And you prove a good point. All this game does is show is the Ecko Unltd. rhino and maybe a few false pot shots at graffiti. I don't know much about it seeing as I've never seen it from the other side of the fence, from a real graffiti artists point of view. I'm not going to be tagging buildings for a while.
I need to just chill out and think of a name to write with. Had something, but then realized I was partly Nicing from JA. So, give me a little while. I'm gonna just work on something. Be using Sharpie fine point Permanent Marker. I work at Home Depot, so these things were really cheap. They work just fine though. I'll try and get something in within a week. Later

Relax man. What I said meant nothing. Yeah. I'm just laying back playing a game while real graffiti writers are out there risking getting caught every time they do graffiti. I'm not exactly a star model for a graffiti artist. What's a dumb ass white boy like myself supposed to do? Lie about this shit? Tell you all it runs in the family? Nah. I told you all the truth. Don't matter now if all of you hate me. There's always a chance for anything... that's what I live by.
