i got two stanton str8 60s for 200 canadian..... i know they're not great. but i can't afford much.
i don't even know what mixer this is.... it's a stanton and very basic. and they're just hooked up to my shitty panasonic stereo. i'll upgrade some time in the future.... some time.

I dont mind CDJ's I guess. But I mean, why not have a wax turntable in your setup? I think only rockin CD tables is kinda whack. DJs were meant to rock crates, but keepin up with technology isnt terrible either. Im rockin Stantons for now until the money situation changes. And I was just about to buy a new CD player and was looking as Vestax. Anyone worked with it?
It fits the budget and Ive used it and it works pretty simply. I dunno, dont have much experience with CDJs. CDXs looks awesome but its a little over my spending limit.
*edit. Just picked up a Madlib and Bad Brains record yesterday. Cant wait to throw that shit on at my next gig.

was looking as Vestax. Anyone worked with it?
Vestex are good decks imo. Alot of torque behind the platter, only thing is they have feature's you don't really need..... i.e ultra pitch and reverse etc.
If you're budgets round that sort of cash, you're best off with some nice 1210's or 1200's ....

Nah, I meant for CD players. Yeah, if I was lookin for a wax turntable and was willin to spend that much, Id def do Technics.
Ill probably pick one up after I get a job actually. But CD players I mean. Whaddya guys reccomend? (got like 300 to spend)

naw man have u fucked with the CDX's?
i have um and i used to be ALL agaist cd players untill i fucked with that, the effects on it are just off the fucking chain, not to mention it actually have a 12inch on there thats adustable just liek a normal player but the effects on it alone are worth the cash, then mix that with my Kaospad2 (if u fucked with the first version then u know how much they probably put into the second generation) and all the effects on my numark DXM06Mixer that channles out bass, mids, or highs....completely cutting them off, then the vocorder, fliters, echos, sonars, flanger, plaser.... and your on a WHOLE diffrent ballgame taking droping records and takes to remixing it to the relm of production with out any workstations or anything of that nature
its great being able to do that shit with just dj equipment alone....

Yup Yup. Well, I ain't really against MP3's / CD decks, its just my vinyl collection is too big to just give up on......

plus theres nothing like the pops and cracks the tiny inperfections on records that just gives it that love sound.... thats the only thing i have about cd decks.... i gotta have them crackles and hisses and pops.... that sound puts em to sleep

Does anyone know of some type of program that will remove the voices/singing so all I am left with is the instruments and stuff. Also a good mixing program? I dont have any decks, so a mixing program I can use without decks. Right know I am working with audacity(ghetto) just making simple beats, what I want to make is some darkwave and simple mixes until I can upgrade.thanks

you cant usually clearly just take out vocals from a beat....you can take out certain levels so you might loose a frequency of the drums or melody etc....well as far as i can think anyway......
GeSuS_KRiST
08-19-2007, 02:10 AM
i think there actually is such a program that does that but ive never come across it fanny has spoke if it... but ive never seen or heard on personal, i know i can like u say filter the shit outof it, my mixer kills like i said bass mids and highs and with that i can fliter out to a certin extent then just gove right over it and try to drouwnd it out with ym own beat... but thats for gettin vocals
the kids gonna wanna fuck with filterinout alot of the highs and the mids and aplifying the lows to attempto kill vocals, but why would u wanna do a think liek that, u should jack vocals not instros, unless your trying to to mash up then u should strickly be working with instros and samples and recreating
toxus
08-19-2007, 08:01 AM
Yeah. You can't really cut vocals without the music sounding a mess..........

08-19-2007, 12:35 PM
Yea, I want to take out some of the vocals, then mix them with other music like mash ups. thats what I was trying to say. I dont want to steal the beats of other producers. Is there any computer program that will let me create my own beats or will I have to have some sort of equipment to do so?

yeah your just starting out so fruityloops is the way to go.... equipment is VERY expensive
as for mash up they use instromentals man then mix it...

if you get with downloading the full version, go for it man.
just remember - about a year after you get it a message comes
up saying that you have like 30 days to re-register online to keep
it as a full version...just set your computer a year back and that
usually works.
(and please mess with the properties of your instruments or get
soundkits or something...dont leave that generic flstudio sound)
