and to anyone going to the last guns up show...

Okay, so here is the deal: There was an incident at the Lawrence Knights of Columbus recently that involved a stabbing and a shooting, which ultimately led to all functions at the venue being cancelled due to the city of Lawrence. This presents a huge problem. However, we were able to secure the Roller Kingdom in Hudson, MA for the show on Friday. We are so sorry that this shit keeps happening, but once again it is out of our hands and it is due to a series of unfortunate events that we cannot control. So, we need everyone to spread the word to all their friends and anyone they know who was going to the show that it is still on this Friday February 2nd, but is now being held at the Roller Kingdom in Hudson, MA.

Once again we are really sorry to anyone who this inconveniences and we are just as upset as you are about the way this turned out, but we assure you that this show is STILL HAPPENING, all bands will be there, there will be NO MORE venue or date changes, it WILL be fun and Guns Up! will go out with a bang (no pun intended), we assure you. Thank you all for understanding the situation and bearing with us through all this. See you on Friday, in Hudson, NOT Lawrence ; )- Guns Up!

i just love the shit cause you become one of the guys on the floor to be hated.
just fucking horse kicking people during breakdowns and them in returning fliping out
Shit gets me excited.
Especially the fact that you can just say to them what do you expect at a fucking hardcore show..

- Someone said that to me the other day and all i could do was just fucking laugh.
Tough guy hardcore seriously just tares me apart inside.

posi hardcore is definetly fun shit. Dont get me wrong i love boston hardcore but thats what it seems to have come to on the eastcoast. everyone trying to be dicks. Noone really helping people up that fall. Hardcore seems to have become almost like gang warfare, fucking listen to the music and enjoy it.

philly shows are pretty rough, FSU runs shit and it's all about crowd killing. But i don't mind gettin knocked around a bit. it's really funny when all the new kids stand back behind like 20 people or stand on the stairs in the church.

and shit i am out of the loop, i had no idea guns up is breaking up. that sucks. i wish i could go to the show. but there's no way i can be in boston tomorrow. hope ya enjoy it. they always killed it down here

bigtakeover
02-01-2007, 08:43 PM
yeah hitting the crowd is only done in the north east, i used to act like that but im not too into it anymore, im sick of every person at new england shows trying to act harder than everyone else. and like gome tron said before, what the fuck do people expect its hardcore, dancing happens, if you cant take it go home, and if youre from an area where people are known to get hurt at shows then its nothing new to you. i donw think down on "slam dancing" at all, i just hate dicks who fight over moshing , dancing or whatever you want to call it.

That was kinda like the Earth Crisis Reunion. When Tyrant was on, Courage Crew was crowd killing alot, that shit was just ridiculous.

On another note, Tyrant is horrible.

slam dancing is just moshing, douchebag. i know it was used to refer to the type of dancing that was done in the late 70s, but it still means the same thing and that kid was refering to modern moshing as slam dancing, and we all understood what he meant. now go comb through my posts for typos as well. maybe you can feel better and smarter about that too.

I don't give a fuck if people wanna think of any form of moshing as slam dancing. they're still wrong. I don't need to do shit to make myself feel better or smarter than you. It's a known fact.

but srsly, anyone who says slam dancing is anything other than what people did at hardcore shows back in the day is a fucking tard.

Your point is?

Aside from the fact that my weight is mostly from muscle mass not fatty mass, that has nothing to do with the discussion at hand. If I was mostly fat...fuck, I probably wouldn't be able to stand, and I'd need a dude holding a wide-load sign behind me wherever I went, but that's not the case, so you lose.

You guys should check out my band Forewarned (http://www.myspace.com/forewarnedhardcore)
We haven't been playing together very long, and we did the recordings ourselves, so it doesn't sound perfect. We play because we love hardcore, and we have fun playing with bands we love.

If you like it awesome, add us on there, if not that's cool too, at least you'll have checked us out

hahahaha. hang loose, braaah. hahah

but seriously, outlive was such a great album. i'm not really into all this is or their demo, but goddamn i love outlive. one of my favorite albums in hardcore. not just cause it's guns up, but some of the songs on there are just great.

That'd be weird, I doubt they want anyone painting while theres a show going on...especially in a hot, closed-in room packed with people. Ya know?

a family that eastcoast hardcore had.
Guns up, have heart, harder the fight guys are all family and it sucks to see part
of that family go.
But i have to say, i dont think it attracts a bad crowd, it just attracts people that are
more into the music and are part of the eastcoast hardcore family.

Haha. First of all, it's a genre of music, not a specific kind of person. It used to be a subgenre of punk, shit like Minor Threat, Bad Brains, Black Flag, Descendents, etc. Nowadays it's alot more than just music, and people take it more seriously. I'm not gonna rant on about what hardcore is though

Back then they had no self-esteem, so they were just a damn eye-sore. Now they all shaved their heads and bought a hoods shirt and some flatbrims and think they are hard shit cause they look like that. Shit's WACK.
Haha, I used to love seeing them freak out when they got hit.
what the fuck guys...

hardcore has always had a fashion that went along with it. you could tell who the hardcore kids were 25 years ago too. they had the shaved heads, boots, chains, tight levis...

late 80's saw the dunks, jerseys, crew cuts, bleached hair, etc

now its the dunks, flat bills, jerseys, camo shorts, etc

its not like now all of the sudden hardcore became a fasion, and all the sudden you can tell who listens to hardcore. it hasnt turned into a kind of person. theres always been a stereotypical fashion to go along with it. Just because that stereotypical fashion has evolved over time doesnt mean that the idea of a fashion itself is a new phenomenon. get over it and stop saying that hardcore has turned into a fashion, when there has been a fashion ever since its creation. there has always be poseurs, and there will always been poseurs. the fashion doesnt matter, buts its just fucking stupid as to say that hardcore has suddenly developed into a "kind of person" when there has always been a stereotypical "kind of person" since its creation. Just because that fashion has changed over time, doenst mean its a new phenomenon. just think about it, and stop

yeah seriously, fashion has always had a part in hardcore the same way its had a part in punk rock. just now it involves expensive jeans and A&F polo shirts. i mean im still wearing band t shirts and jeans, and hoodies, but fashion has a huge part in hardcore.

Props for elcs you said it right.

I puke on people, living solely on nyquil and donuts.

It's funny how in the beginning the image of punk was to be different from everyone else. Over time that small group or following grows. Then you got 10 million people who are trying to be different, but all look exactly the same.

It's time to get innovative. And I agree stereotypes are lame yo.

around here at shows people care more about the scene than fashion. the REAL scene here is totally real people, not so much the tough guy shit, even though there's a couple people with a little of that mentality. bands have said that even though the nashville hardcore scene doesnt have a ton of people, it's got more heart and real people than most of the others in america right now.

what's bad though, is that it's at an all time low. good shows draw an average of 30 people, but if it's a really good show, they bring anywhere from 60-130 people. bands still love to come back, though, because even though it's not a huge turnout, they get great reactions here.

i think it's dumb to go to shows just to dance. i mean, if you're really into what's being played at the moment, go ahead, but if you just dance to show people that you can dance like 90% of the scene kids out there, just don't get in the pit. i almost never "dance", but when i do, it's not really dancing, it's just me letting out some stress during a really good band. most i've ever gone off at a show was during ceremony and i ended up with raw knuckles from punching the walls and bruises galore. didn't feel any of it until the next day, but i was expecting it.

i've noticed that what's going on in my life really affects how i act at shows. when i've been under a lot of stress and had a ton of bottled up anger, i tend to snap when seeing a heavy/pissed off band that i know. a kid i knew got in a wreck and died when i was at school one day, and i went to a show after finding out, and just felt so out of place and couldn't feel the music whatsoever. no reaction at all, i just stood there. didn't really even focus on the band, even though it was a band i had been waiting to see for a while. other shows i go to while i'm worried or something, it's the same thing.

and also, most of the time, 2-stepping is a horrible, dumb as shit way to show off your "dancing" skillz to the elders at the show. please don't do it whenever a 2-step beat is played by a band you've never heard in your life, and don't even like.

The straight-edge movement is a great lifestyle choice. I don't claim it though, of course I'm drug-free, I just don't feel the need to let everyone else know because it's not a big deal to me, at all. I do have a lot of respect for the older heads in the scene who have been edge for ages that are ACTUALLY doing it for themselves though, or basically anyone who does it for themselves.

Oh, and meatsnacks, I agree with you about people who are on your ass about using drugs, that's fuckin' pathetic. That's almost as weird to me as being pro-life, who are you to tell someone what to do/what to believe in? Man, shut the fuck up. I'm sure you put yourself into different labels. People use labels to describe themselves. They use them because they like feeling a form of unifications with others within that classification. Dude who smoke a lot of pot looooovvveeee calling themselves stoners and love to hang out with other stoners, yet will talk mad shit on us for calling ourselves straight edge.

It's not a matter that we're too weak to do it on our own. A lot of people chose to abstain from drugs and whatnot before finding hardcore, and when they got into punk, they found straight edge and decided it works for them, so they roll with it. Big fucking deal.

Straight edge is far from being an "army". There are no leaders, there's no other tied in ideologies other than those of abstinence from mind altering substances and addiction, etc. No one tells us what to do. Whether we chose to call ourselves that, or even if it never existed, we would still do what we do, cause it's what we believe. Label or not.

This may be a hard concept for you to understand, but some people think differently than you. Just because they feel the need to claim edge doesnt mean that they are wrong for feeling that way. Some people feel the need to claim edge, and some dont. I'm edge. Who fucking cares? Take it from me...or dont, but comming from a person on the inside, straight edge isnt at all how you made it out to be.

Does somebody who follows a religion have an army to put words in their mouths? Does somebody of a certain political party an army to put words in their mouths? You know...it is possible to think for yourself and still have those views be part of a larger mindset.

It really isn't, but i'm not gonna get into this arguement again, as i've fallen into it on several occasions. I'm just gonna say that PV was a joke label put onto some bands from a certain scene like Crossed Out, Lack of Interest, Man is the Bastard, Neanderthal, No Comment, etc etc. It wasn't based on sound. It was a joke. nothing more. The genre of it all would actually just be hardcore, fast and intense hardcore at that, but still just hardcore.

yeah, my old pop punk band played a show with them in Charlotte NC last year with Thieves And Assassins, in a car-repair shop. It was fun as shit, and ADGF ruled. Bummer they broke up.

PV isn't actually a genre.
sorry mister picky
It really isn't, but i'm not gonna get into this arguement again, as i've fallen into it on several occasions. I'm just gonna say that PV was a joke label put onto some bands from a certain scene like Crossed Out, Lack of Interest, Man is the Bastard, Neanderthal, No Comment, etc etc. It wasn't based on sound. It was a joke. nothing more. The genre of it all would actually just be hardcore, fast and intense hardcore at that, but still just hardcore.

look it up.
hmmmm ...
there is sence ... but ... I don't know ... those guys call their selfs PV bands !!! so ... you have to believe them ... :D :P ;)

i love hardcore. but fuck your district ws es wtv animosity shit...some hardcore has a good message but realistically it has no musical value anymore. very few groups elaborate and attempt to develop the genre into something more than what it is. and yes. fuck fashioncore, theres nothing more fake less sincere, than someone who dresses up like everyone else and dont think for themselves. but maybe something to consider is the fact that most hardcore kids look very similar too, just because they dress more appropriate in terms of what one might call proper society doesnt mean that your ideas of voicing opinions and "not being a carbon copy of the guy standing next to you" arent being unconciously emulated at your hardcore shows. so please, i think we should all open our mind up to different groups, unite for whatever ideals we believe in, but not limit ourselves to knee-jurk violence just because one person may like a band that you dont, however absurd he may seem. keep it real.

and for the record SB 805 hxc punx wtv the fuck you want it to be ...its our home...

yeah, id say im hardcore, but i dont like to say it, it sounds so sterotypical...theres a bunch of us around here, but some either act like theyre "hard" fucks, or theyre just plain emos that just wear the pants for the girls (which ive done before sadly i admit), haha...anyways, yeah, most people around here are like gangsters or at least the ones that dress like it...anyways, i knew theyre were hardcore kids doing this other places, cause sometimes we act like were gangster (not me :D , haha)...but its good to have the proof...i should probably answer that ska post too, haha...my second favorite music, haha :D

do you guys have a hardcore influence in you graff (characters with plugs, etc)?? i like to, because it sets me apart from the "homies" haha...it also got me almost FUCKED by some gang O.A.K....yay for gang violence against me!!!

That cd is so sexxxxy
I seen them live back in the day once, when i never heard of them. Now i know almost all the songs.
are you kidding me? the new comeback kid album is the worst shit ive ever heard in my life. they have fucking Linkin Park style vocals. Its disgusting and an insult to their previous work. I LOVE Wake The Dead and Turn It Around, but this new shit...its fucking TERRIBLE.

Turn It Around is such a great album in my opinion, and I still love it, but I wasn't too crazy about Wake the Dead. I haven't heard their new cd yet though, but i've heard nothing but bad news about it.
