Maybe its just me, but I don't really think black flag DK or any westcost 1890s hardcore has any real reflection on the hardcore of today. i think most of it sounds like New York hardcore agnostic front style stuff

Black flag was good for their time and jello Biafra seemed to write lyrics more aimed to the government and the youth of America I.e police truck and jock-o-Rama ana d nyhc is awesome and agnostic front is good but other bands that sort of died in mid 90s like cro mags and subzero were really good.

Basically hardcore music is what started being scene. Hardcore music started out like this (http://www.myspace.com/divebombin), music for friends about hanging out and being straight edge and stuff.
Progressively got harder and harder like this (http://youtube.com/watch?v=8m5C9tcLgSA), which is what most people that listen to hardcore today listen to.
And over time now it's like this (http://youtube.com/watch?v=AWggPLXeOkU). Which is what most scene kids listen to, it's progressed even harder then that, which some people listen to (I still do) like grindcore and really heavy shit.

Hardcore kids generally just like going to shows and dancing (moshing/whatever the fuck you want to call it) while scene kids just like listening to the music (all though some do dance), and being scene is based more on fashion, hairstyles, and tattoos. It's like being hardcore, just one level up on how hard the music is, and taking care of your looks while you're at it.

ceremony's breakdowns are pretty unique due to their style. fucking ill though. saw them for the third time on monday, and they have NEVER even somewhat disappointed. love them. guns up's the kind of band where you'd think "oh, here comes another generic hardcore breakdown", but then it comes and you realize they're pretty well-written.

so yeah. i know what you're saying. as long as the whole song isn't a breakdown with a couple words and fast parts thrown in, i'm willing to give it a listen.

I've been a strong part of the "hardcore" and straight edge community for 6-8yrs running.

Let me tell ya something hardcore isn't ever gonna be worth shit.

Atleast not my scene.. All it is are 15-20yr olds pushing there weight around. And the style of music lost its creativity in a vast ammount. Takes large amounts of effort to find a band worth listening too.

Grew up on street punk like lower class brats and cheapsex but still most influencial band out for me was shai hulud with their original singer. His hatred for peoples careless mindsets was amazingggg.

I just wish my scene was like 4yrs ago. Where it was kids tryna rep there hood. Or act like a "thug" I grew up fighting for a gang because my self loathing and nearly died because of it.

Then I see 16yr old kids walking round with brass knuckles and knives but there from rich neighbourhoods. Me and my crew of mates just laughed once when we hosted a show in an abandoned building in our home turf and a lot of the local skaters come and kicked the fuck outta one dude for spitting at a chick and every "hxc" kid ran for the hills.

I have no hate for the music infact I love it I play for a hate band called cheapshot. But frankly its not the music culture I grew up knowing its the next rap culture. Underground. Progress. Turns pop and useless.
