that is indeed what it has become. there is nothing punk rock about today's 'hardcore' i went to a crime in stereo show last night and almost got my nose broken during international superheroes of hardcore by some idiot who decides to start beatdown dancing during a thrash part. it was totally uncalled for. im not whining because i got hit. ive been hit many of times, some were even worse, and ive done a bit of hitting myself, but they were at least at appropriate times and accidental. the last good show that's come in a good while was this is hell a couple weeks ago. i don't know about anymore good ones till blacklisted. even then, i'm pissed that trap them dropped off that tour. nashville hardcore is NOTHING like it used to be. it's hard for bands to draw a good crowd now unless they have cr00sh br34kd0wns, and that basically gives us a bad image, making it so less good bands will want to come. nashville used to be a favorite city to hit on any tour for any band. now it just sucks.

Honestly, i don't see much of a difference between comeback kid and carry on, their styles are so similar, the big diffs are between like, DBD, Madball, shit like that, and the new stuff like too pure to die(who is respectable, from DsM) bleeding through, idk, all this breakdowny metal core is kinda lame. My favorite stuff is the fast posi kinda stuff from cbk, mliw, down to nothing, set it straight. man keepin it real.
oh and have heart, final fight, MLIW, ruiner, etc. its all good.

dude MLIW was one of hardcore's best. i will seriously have the utmost respect for their music for as long as i live. so good. the instrumental aspects on top of the lyrical aspects are fucking gold. it's just crazy that a hardcore band could reach that level. so many others try to imitate their style, but hardly anyone comes close, and even if they do, it's usually with only one song or something. MLIW put out so many good songs it's ridiculous. in my opinion, Witness is flawless and one of the best hardcore albums around. My Love My Way is also crazy good too, but their last album was lacking. i guess it's kinda hard to follow up an album like witness.

Modern Life arent' really metalcore, they're melodic hardcore, kinda like life long tragedy or have heart's new stuff. Its punkier than it is metal, by far, hell, mliw don't even have breakdowns.

Thats when you get into the difference between emo and scene.
Fuck scene, that shits weak. Emo isn't really a look or anything, its just, in my opinion, a key item in good music. Emotion is what makes you feel music.
Which is why theres good bands of just about every genre, and probably a dozen that suck for each good one.

I call myself a hardcore kid, because I go to shows and have fun, I listen to hardcore amongst other genres of music, and because i identify with the original mentality of modern hardcore. that is to be the best, no matter what. to be the best you can be.
hardcore isn't a way to be a rebel, it's a way for kids that want to achieve things that the mainstream doesn't quite get, for kids who feel certain things to come together and reach their goals, and make a mark doing it.
People who hate on kids because of stupid things like being suburban are the poison of our culture. it doesn't matter who you are as long as you're real, and you don't hate.
and remember, everyone starts somewhere,
in 6th grade my favorite band was good charlotte, now my favorite bands are champion and crime in stereo. so give em a chance.
