I'm impressed that this generation still likes jazz.
I listen to lots of jazz and blues while arting.
I basically listen to a lot of different music but try and stay away from mainstream.
Top 40 is for toys.
Gesus had a cool remix of old jazz he made a while back that hits my playlist at home.

Jazz is good stuff... I like to see people who can still appreciate the genre. I'm a fan for sure. Django Reinhart is the man!
I've always been more of a fan of blues though, blues is one of my favourite genres out there, especially old Delta blues stuff, doesn't get better than that!

No idea. But jazz is the bomb.
Check out Chick Corea, Stan Getz, Glen Miller, The Weather Report, Dave Brubeck and all the classics of course. Miles, Coltrane, Monk, ect.
And I love that Stones Throw is using a lot of Blue Note classics to make new hip hop tracks. I just got Peanut Butter Wolfs jazz breaks record and I am definitely throwin that shit on next time I DJ.

I have some old jazz records in my stash-o-wax. I dont listen to jazz, but I like using jazz samples in my music. I find alot of kids my age who claim to listen to jazz are hella pretentious and just claim shit to seem cultured. I appreciate jazz, but I dont enjoy it, sorry.

i play music so i just kinda got into it, i went to school for it and i do work on guitars for a living. i write it, i don't just listen to it, for me it really is like hiphop for most of you, and i feel you kao, especially recently, just letting everyone know my connection
dude! Le Scrawl is badass. they're from germany, and two of the guys are doctors. and ones a historian. but they make sweet ska/grindcore/jazz/vampire-metal/punk
and for jazz, Jaco Pastorius, Stanley Clarke, Billy Cobham, Coltrane, Herbie Hancock. the greats.
acid jazz, mushroom jazz, guru jazz. ha. jazz can get pretty experimental.
i feel like im allowed to tell people about jazz. i play some pretty mean jazz drums. and yeah, sick samples.

Yes! Chet Baker was awesome. I have "Live in Tokyo '88," and it kills me every time I listen to it. For an old druggie on his last legs, that cat could blow! Holy crap. His stuff with Gerry Mulligan is fantastic.
Can't believe that guy died by falling out of a window. What a way to go...

Chris Botti plays trumpet, but his music is like progressive easy listening shit, not straight up jazz but real relaxing pretty much all the songs in this album have good bass.
The music is in m4a format though, just giving you a heads up.

Go to free.napster.com and you can listen to complete albums for free.
Here are some jazz must-haves:
Miles Davis Kind of Blue (generally thought of as the greatest jazz album of all time...Abstract, when you're listening to this, keep in mind that these guys were making up practically every note as they went, having no real idea of what they were going to play next. Total improvisation.)
Miles Davis Milestones
Charles Mingus Mingus Ah Um
Dave Brubeck Time Out
Anything Chet Baker did with Gerry Mulligan
Early Herbie Hancock stuff, like from before he was with the Headhunters
Blossom Dearie Once Upon A Summertime
I know I'm skipping a lot.
Church, I'll check that album out. Thanks for the tip.
