I want your opinions on something quickly&#33; I took an ap art class this year for high school and we are suppose to do an end of the year assignment. I have never painted before (just messed around on some plywood and a house wall, which turned out like shit). My teacher gave me the ok that I could do a graf peice on the ap studio art wall( aprox 8ft x 15 maybe longer). What do you guys think about this? I would write AP STUDIO or somthing to that nature.

I never tried different sized caps which could be a reason why my scribbles turned out like shit. I also didn&#39;t spend very much time doing them(30min). What do you guys think about me trying a huge peice for the first time? Oh yeah, i have only a few days to do this but i can stay after school.

car2n, i don&#39;t know if your gonna bite my head off for this, or take it as a challenge, but something about your sketches bothers me.
i know, don&#39;t criticize unless your better than who your talking to, but some people are looking for feedback.
it seems to me that in many of your sketches, the R in particular has certain distinct traits that i think could be improved upon.
the top is the widest part of the R(1)
then it gets really skinny(2)
then pretty wide, in the line from 3 to 5
and the bottom of the R(4) is medium width
i think it might look better if there was less variation in width
also, the line that ends where i inserted a 4, does not bend the same on both sides, it is similar to where i have drawn figure 6. i think it might be a stronger letter if these lines were closer to being parallel at all points and if the widths throughout the R were more consistant.
once again, i don&#39;t know if what you produced is exactly what you were going for, or if you are completely pleased with your work. i am merely adding this in the event that part of you was hoping for some kind of critique.
this isn&#39;t a diss, or a claim to be better than you.

one last observation, throughout this particular piece, the letters overlap in a natural fashion from left to right until you get to the N which breaks this pattern by overlapping the letter(actually number) to it&#39;s left. this further works to obscure the 2 since it is also overlapped by the R before it.

make ur letters the right size and keep that size throughout the letters

and stop adding random shit everywhere, make them work with your letters.

try work on thinner letters? then your thin arrows and addons wont look so out of place, and also, maybe you can work the addons and arrows out of the letters, rather than just randomly there.
study people like dare tws, for connections and all the amazing shit he does

and cantwo, for perfect letter consistency and width etc

ensoe&#39;s newer stuff too has that concept of thick and thin going on, but his is used consistently throughout his piece, rather than having one part of his letter bigger than any of the other letters in the piece.

i have spent months/days/hours cleaning the blackbook thread
and to no avail it ends up as full of useless comments as when i started the cleanup

why dont people just not talk in the thread&#33;?
blaming the mods isnt fair either

because when we clean up posts...example like from dna, glue, infer, mike jones, etc
guess what they do, they get all offened that their useless comments were deleted, and in turn go on a post whoring rampage. they will create 100x the amount of waste that was in the blackbook just because they think they were done wrong

so i understand your frustration, but you have to realize that there are usually reasons behind our non-actions

id also like to point out that one of the recent offenders is a mod (who also never posts any work)

it seems to me that in many of your sketches, the R in particular has certain distinct traits that i think could be improved upon.
the top is the widest part of the R(1)
then it gets really skinny(2)
then pretty wide, in the line from 3 to 5
and the bottom of the R(4) is medium width
i think it might look better if there was less variation in width
also, the line that ends where i inserted a 4, does not bend the same on both sides, it is similar to where i have drawn figure 6. i think it might be a stronger letter if these lines were closer to being parallel at all points and if the widths throughout the R were more consistant.
once again, i don&#39;t know if what you produced is exactly what you were going for, or if you are completely pleased with your work. i am merely adding this in the event that part of you was hoping for some kind of critique.
this isn&#39;t a diss, or a claim to be better than you.

one last observation, throughout this particular piece, the letters overlap in a natural fashion from left to right until you get to the N which breaks this pattern by overlapping the letter(actually number) to it&#39;s left. this further works to obscure the 2 since it is also overlapped by the R before it.

i think width variations takes more skill and looks better on peices then the people who just do peices where all there lines are the same size,, its just looks plain and not very artistic if you dont have width variation..car2ns is a good exampe of width variation, and it looks quite nice..image id he made most of his lines the same size, its probly wouldnt look as good, also.where you commented on how the bottom left of his R (4) was bent the wrong way, it think he wanted it to match the N not the CA ..

Pilot V-tech ball point pen (fine) or Pilot VBall [GRIP] those are the 2 perfect pens for outlineing sketches and everything youd need to do. :D
