I think what bore means to say, is that people associate famous characters all the time, but taking a direct copy of it without tweaking it or giving it your own meaning and taste to it, is pretty lame and a bite.
Take Obey for instance. He took the face of the wrestler Andre the Giant, and tweaked it himself in a way and made it famous. Now that face and style is his own, and it is very well known.
So maybe if pac-man was doing something that the artist created on their own to give meaning, then thats understandable. but just right off the bat making a copy of the character, gives no style, taste, perspective, or anything about that writer.

I posted it because I liked the variations on my original character I had come up with (japanese, mexican, french). It&#39;s not like I just made this shit up today and showed &#39;em off cause I thought I was hot. I&#39;ve worked on it for a while and I like the improvements I&#39;ve made at the moment.

But what about the faces are "preetty lame"? Do you not like the cultural insensitivity? The pen I drew with? The eyes? The hair? You just threw out an adjective without any helpful suggestions. It doesn&#39;t help me improve and it&#39;s just annoying.

Is it the picture quality? I&#39;m in college and don&#39;t have every day access to a digicam, but i DO have a built in camera on my computer, which I exploit on the daily. It&#39;s not the best quality, but it&#39;s better than the camera on my phone.

And I got my black book for free. I don&#39;t really think of it as anything really cool. I mean, it&#39;s just paper. I practice in it when I&#39;m in my room, just like I practice on notebook paper in class.

Sorry if that came off bitchy, dude. I had just been defeated at FIFA 07 by my noob roommate and I was frustrated, I guess. The point I wanna make is that advice would be more helpful if it went in depth with what didn&#39;t work and what could be improved.

Sorry, Lyric, I&#39;m not feeling that very much. I don&#39;t really have any suggestions, either, beyond not being so shaky with the pencil when you draw. And, if you don&#39;t use them right now (i&#39;m guessing you don&#39;t), get either mechanical or art pencils. They erase neater and look cleaner.

Is it the picture quality? I&#39;m in college and don&#39;t have every day access to a digicam, but i DO have a built in camera on my computer, which I exploit on the daily. It&#39;s not the best quality, but it&#39;s better than the camera on my phone.

And I got my black book for free. I don&#39;t really think of it as anything really cool. I mean, it&#39;s just paper. I practice in it when I&#39;m in my room, just like I practice on notebook paper in class. [/b][/quote]

Alright, I&#39;ve never gave a crit yet but here it goes.

First you&#39;re beaver needs depth, u know, shading and what not.
Second is the beaver shouldn&#39;t look like a person dressed up as a beaver, it should be a beaver regular size almost, like a fat body with short appendages.
Third, it should be posing in some way or doing something, give it some style and
shit, or more to the point, it should look evil, u know, red glowing eyes, sharp claws, whatever, and mind you the pose that it&#39;s doing should also give it some depth.

Finally you really only wanna do this if you wanna make this your signature character or somethin, or just keep some of this in mind for other characters. Seriously keep at it

when drawing characs, dont use graph paper. you need to have the freedom of regular blank white, to create the flow. start off simple, work on certain parts, likie eyes or mouth. something

Exaggerated proportions is what its all about. you do have to do it exxagerated though, to show you meant to make proportions wrong. usually you have to understand correct proportions before you can exaggerate em.

and yes, i see that it is shaded, im just saying a bit more deffinition might add effect.

the third one and the fith one are using exagerations and proportions the best together.

the last one deff needs some work. i would say proportion could be looked at for head/body ratio.
