well, im currently sketching the dead fly. I'm thinking its going to end up as a pretty clean line rendering, I can add various colored splatters to the background, under the body of the fly to act as blood/guts when I make the sticker.

ive used poster board which is like 2 bucks for a real big piece but im not a big stencil guy

yeah poster board is the way to go because its thicker and it wont fold or bend as easy when you paint with it
and paper is too light and will move if when you spray it if you dont hold it down

Buy a "8 1/2 x 11" sticker sheet from a office supply/craft store.
Throw it in a printer.
Print the image on it, cut out, bang you have a sticker that isnt square.

I get ya, the only thing i could think of would be head over to a graphic arts studio and get em' to do it for ya. My dad worked at one for a couple of years, they print em' and cut em'. (like a place that does decals for commercial trucks and shit)

So you'd take your design there, without your fucking name on it lol, get em' to do it up for you and then tag em' before usage. Would cost a bit though... dunno how much exactly.

Its worth the $30 (CAN). Really nicely put together, lots of pictures, most of the text is in foot notes and the occasional quote or comment. It's also all of his three books in one which is a good deal.

@vagrant, how did flies turn into your thing?

Nice slaps. The rectangle ones are solid, and look good. Clean. The cutout karaks are a very good start. Perhaps you could add some color.

As for my flies, I dunno. I started off with my Fly On The Wall stencil, and then decided to try doing some handdrawn flies, since then I don't have to worry about spraypainting (I don't have a decent area to mass produce stenciled stickers. The best place was on my stoop but I live in a 4-plex apartment and painting graff stickers outside isn't too smart, not to mention the weather had a big part in deciding when I could make stickers)
I guess it just kinda snowballed from there.
The ironic thing is: I absolutely despise flies in real life. If I see a fly buzzing around, I will drop whatever I'm doing, grab a flyswatter, and hunt that fucker down until its dead. Fucking annoying little bastards.

What kinda markers are you using? they seem kinda weak.
Might need to come up with a new throw for the stickies, open letters dont translate well with them.

a simple way to layer would be like a guys head kind of outlined and filled in white for the back layer than the details of his face in black for the first layer. so like 2 stencils. you can do more stencils for more complex peices

A quote to put things in perspective...

Work on paper until your stuff is good, then slowly let it flow over to other mediums.
I know what it feels like just starting out, you want to rush into shit and that but if you take a break and get good then come back to it... everything just works. You will be more successful.

I started graff when i was 14-15, then I stopped. I stuck to paper, and just didnt worry about graff. Now starting again at 17 I'm advancing faster, my sketches are better accepted and I feel better about my own work.

You just gotta take some time to get good at "art" then let that influence your path into graff. Maybe not as long a time as i did, but still take a few steps back.

Atleast thats my view.

Cut off the blue "priority mail" at the top...you're not using that space, so just cut it off.

^ some people like to leave the Priority Mail header on the top. Its like the "Hello My Name Is" banner on those stickers. If you're only going to use the middle white part on that sticker, why not cut that off as well?
Usually they incorporate the banner into their design though, whereas with these its just ugly and probably should be cut off.

Hahaha! I love that Vagrant. The flies are awesome. Only think is that it looks almost if his whole back end is in the toilet. Like he looks to submerged into the toilet. Also I think if you need to get a silver sakura marker and add some lines just to differentiate the wings from the toilet

Rast- I think you need to work on your stuff first. It seems a bit to simple. Also I'd remove the curl on the end of your r in your tag it seems like it says "Roast" The character isn't bad it just needs a little work. (and it def. does not look like pikachu)
Leski- I actually like the middle one the best. I think rather than giving him a hoodie you should try giving him a space helmet and like a jetpack. I think that would be sick.

@Ark. Robots look better with squares and rectangles with rounded off edges. Stickers look better when flush with the direction of the surface.
ie, squared to a doors edges when placed on a door.
