Stencils should be about something origional to you. Alot of people miss that and just copy the same ideas that have been done a million other times. This is a prime example of that.

Any kid with an Xacto, some spray, and an internet connection to "borrow" other peoples recycled ideas can get people all fired up with prejudice ideas that probably have nothing to do with him in the first place. Yeah.... "Fuck the police"... Right on... Like anyone other than skaters and writers are gonna rally around that and see your genious. Although I highly doubt that you&#39;re an urban black male of age who actually has any reason to worry about the cops, you&#39;re gonna campaign against them, right up untill someone who REALLY doesn&#39;t like cops donkey punches you in the back of the head and takes your wallet. Then five-oh is your best friend.
And what impact does Kennedy and Monroe have on your life? It&#39;s just too textbook.
The "Fuck religion" stencil is comepletely misguided as well. Do you have a problem with organized religion practiced by flawed people or the teachings of Christ? Cuzz I&#39;m not a religious cat, but if I walked up to you on the street, you&#39;d want me to treat you in a manner based on the principles he taught. Respect, compassion, etc. If you&#39;re bleeding on a street corner and need help, you want help from "your brother" don&#39;t you? Believe in him or not, Christs teachings were pretty much flawless. Take Christs picture out of the stencil and put a greedy pig like Jerry Fallwell (He&#39;s an old tele evangelist) and at least you&#39;d look like you thought it out a bit, and half the population would probably agree.


Sorry kids, I know I&#39;m usually pretty nice and helpful, but I get bored with loud statements like this that just give writers a worse name. It makes it that much harder for a cat with an origional, personal statement to make, get any respect or understanding... <_<

And cezr, I want to start wheatpasting I think...or at least get some more knowhow. What kind of paper do you use for the big stuff like that? Poster board? Paper rolls? I have some cardstock and I printed off some stuff...would that work if i paste it up? Like, is the paper alright for that, and would inkjet ink fade or wash off? Most of the time you just free hand onto the paper what you want to post up with like a prisma right? I am clueless about this stuff, but I think it is really interesting and I want to learn more.

How I wheatpaste-

-Go to craftstore (I usually wait till Hobby Lobby has the occasional online cupon 40% off, cuzz some of this stuff can&#39;t be racked)
-Purchase large roll of Poster or banner paper, Sharpie Magnum (or better a Pilot and ink refill is cheaper in the long run) &#036;20 projector, pencils, and a can of clear acrylic Matte coating &#036;3-5.
- Put a large piece of the poster paper against a flat surface on a wall. Put chosen image under projector and trace it in pencil onto poster paper. If the image is in color, it&#39;s easier to run it through a program like photoshop or CHEAP---Kodak picture saver and turn it black and white also messing with the contrast. I use picture saver, cuzz all you have to do is press the "cartoon" button and it does it perfectly for you.
-Outline the trace with magnum. Mist over the image with matte coating. Do not point can directly at image. The ink will run.
- Cut image out.
roll it up and use a rubber band around it. (These little tips will save you time when you&#39;re putting the image up)

-Make paste by cooking flour, water, and a bit of sugar in a pot. It will take a little time to figure out the consistancy. Remember, it usually thickens after cooling. You want it runny enough to spray out of a water bottle with a squirt top. It&#39;s easier and more concealable.
- let cool, put in bottle

-get a paintbrush, handwidth wide and put it in a plastic shopping bag, shove it in your pants
-Put poster in your sweatshirt, wrap it around your body so it&#39;s not noticeable. Don&#39;t be afraid to wrinkle it all up in there, the wrinkles come out once paste is applied.
-find surface to apply image, if it&#39;s heaty, scope out the traffic flow for a few, time it well and when it&#39;s time, stay focused and quick, and have an escape route in mind.
-Spray surface with bottle of paste, apply image to well covered surface, apply second coat over poster to protect it.
-All finished, now run like a bitch, or just walk quick and avoid eye contact. :P

I don&#39;t know how inkjet printed images hold up, but I have posters up after nearly a year, still in good shape, and when you get the paste recipe right, people usually give up tearing it off after one little corner. :lol: Good luck. It&#39;s rewarding and it gets you noticed alot.

stickers are not sketchbooks kids. if you sketch alot, you will get better, and do things like making all your letters the same size and width, and if you do throwups, make them look good, dont bite other peoples letters.
also, you will have sketches to look at and then draw onto stickers and tweak slightly.

doing tags is a waste of a sticker unless its a name badge sticker, because those are so small, but i would still rather do a throw on them if i can make it look sick

its easier just to bring a marker when you put up stickers and do tags in between, which is good because then people dont think you only do stickers like alot of people do.

beastie your stencils look like you thought them out well as far as drawing them, but somewhere along the line you really fucked up
theyre both pretty messy. and i could barely tell that was mentock the mindtaker until i saw the other guy and realized your first one must also be from a tv show

also, stencils of things from tv shows are pretty played out, like celebrity stencils. theyre good for decorating your house, but pretty lame for anything else.


aces- take a break from living on the internet, and go paint or something at a chill spot that nobody will see, IE under a bridge or the back of tracksides.

learn graffiti, sketch more, quit looking to the internet for help. we cant make you good at it, you have to do it yourself.

I&#39;ve only done a couple stencils, but i dont really take em out with me when i go cuz theyre a bitch keep from getting everything stained, all i did was put them in a plastic liquor store bag and it got my whole fucking inside of my pack stained.

i use paint, stickers, and markers.....easy cleanup and transportation

i got the idea off another forum but it prolly got posted before use a binder for your stencils and glue some wax paper on the inside of the binder

I keep making a lot and then using em up fast. After I get a steady ammount made, I&#39;ll start sending them out. The 2 lime green ones and the big white on the left one are on vinyls, so those im saving for good spots.
The past month these guys have blown up. so many people see them around, kids from BS see them, someone went to SF and saw one, and lots of people been tellin me them and their friends see them everywhere.

I can&#39;t talk about the stickers, cause I don&#39;t do &#39;em.

As far as the stencils go... the clint eastwood one is okay. needs more detail, but for a one layer, it&#39;s good I suppose.

the bruce lee one... needs A LOT more detail (around the hand, his shoulders, etc) and it has too much underspray, especially on the top of his head.

definitly get trid of the d....u needa connect the end on it cause when i first saw it i thot it said viem. besides it doesnt really flow that well with the other letters. make that top part connect and try and round it out a little.

also, the middle of the M looks wierd, but good luck with that, cause i cant do good Ms either.
