So, I really dig stencils, and there wern't any for toys, and since I'm a toy with stencils I thought I'd show ya them...And maybe this thread will take off...

yeah, you caught me there, but I do/did my stencils for another reason: I make and sell t-shirts. So its easier to do them that way, and I decided why not use some of the stencils I have and use them for graff while I cook up some new ones...

think you need to cut do different stencils of the same image, but dont do the whole image for either one, then spray them one over the other. Or you could just do the basic outline for a base colour then use the propper stencil over the top (looks like what fate dont with the storm trooper).

for this one it 4 layers , one for the bomb, then line up the pink layer with the part cut out of the bomb, then the green for the clothes, then dark green for the camo, the the final one is all the lines.

this one is all one stencil, i spray the black the take off the stencil and fill in the outlines by hand, the stencil the lines over it. you could make two layers to make it neater.

ive got a MFDOOM stencil but i dont know why the pic from my phone wont send it to my email.

I printed the image i wanted to cut out and taped it to a piece of cardboard with some thick tape... then I cut the image out of the tape (not all the way through the cardboard yet) then I took cardboard with the cut out image out side and sprayed it with black paint... let it dry then brought it in and cut the rest of the image out of the cardboard.

the width of the black needs to be more consistent. for a stencil that is so simetrical its important that its all the same width. other than that its a clean cut job

fate, youre right though, there isnt much definition in the face but it was kind of what i was going for, it was supposed to be a shadow effect thing, and it turned out ok, so im happy with it for my first multilayer stencil :)

I get the basic concept of stencils.

But I have tried to do some facial ones of some friends and I just can&#39;t get it. (Don&#39;t worry, the facials are covered of our friends that are HOUNDREDS of MILES away, not that stupid).

Plus just for personal use, not for putting up everywhere.

You need an exacto knife, or something like it, cardboard for beginner, it&#39;s cheap and if you&#39;ve got old shitty records, you can get the cardboard from that.
If you&#39;ve ever had an art class, it&#39;s like relief printing.

I try the shading tricks with photoshop but I can never get them right **like the stencil revolution tutorial**...

Um, not necessarily. If the pictures have too much detail, that could be a problem. Use your eyes instead of the computer.

Yeah, well sometimes you get lucky and people tell you the right way to do it. If you use your eyes rather than a computer. You can take a mental picture if you see something and mix it with other ideas in your head and then put it on paper.

its two pieces of bristol board tape together, so its like a hinge (sp).it folds in half
theres two ways i carry large stencils.
1. a large art portfolio, i has a strap to carry it like a purse.
2. line a peice of card/bristolboard with wax paper and put that against the stencil and roll it up and put it in a postertube or garbage bag

also i spray the large ones with spray adhesive and let it dry a bit. then put it on the wall for clean lines.

stencils are easy everyone should be able to make tight ones.

not necissarliy doing anything to the photo, just turn it black and white print it out, tape it to the cardboard and cut it that way. you could do a real nice job on that stencil,a layer fot the hat, layer for the skin, an eye layer,and then the lines.

print the pic out 4 times.
cut out the whole hat- thats the hat layer
cut out the face and top of the body-skin layer
the eyes are up to u on how to do em
then spray the skin layer, line up the hat, spray it, then do you final lines over all that

you dont really need to worry about laminating it just cut it out and start using it .. the more you use it the more dried paint will acumulate and that will make it thick and stable more so then laminating it will

yeah, well. the scanner and the paper didnt help much and it only took 30 minutes to cut out, so i think its pretty damn good for a 30 minute stencil.

well it would stick longer because you can just take a wet rag and whipe it off.... you dont have to be a dick head....

to be honest you dont even need a printer it helps but you can just free hand something on paper and than just transfer it to cardboard or just use a posterboard which is what i perfer to use idk i hope that helped somewhat

yeah ... well i&#39;ll usually free hand a drawing on a piece of cardboard (cereal boxes are a nice size, but anything works) and then go over the drawing with a sharpie. cut out the lines w. a razor or exacto knife and thus you have a stencil. if you want multi colored stencils, the easiest was to do that is to cut out an outline on one piece of cardboard and then cut out the details on another piece.

when your doing more complex stencils (refer to the one of my face) remeber to make sure that everything is connected. so like for my eyes on the face stencil, i had to leave a gap in the glasses to keep it all on piece of cardboard.

it takes practice, but youll get the hang of it.... ill post more soon, i just need to get a camera.
