has anyone heard of jiffy artline marker? my friend has every colour possible he got them from his dad his dad got them from work, there are for marking numbers or something on automotive blocks and engines, stuff like that, well anyways these markers are amazing they work on plastic, metal, wood, there great, they come in your basic blue,red,black,white,yellow, and i think thats about it, the tip is a bit bigger than a sharpie, so there kinda small, but man there permanent, i did a tag just down my street on a mailbox, and that was a year ago, its still there and clear as day, anyways if anyone in canada, or anywhere, knows where to buy them online or in stores, thatd be dope

Heres my chapstick marker I made. I sealed it from the bottom so the ink wouldnt leak out cause it did when i tested it with water.

I heated the chapsticks bottom and sealed the seam of the marker with its own plastic using the nail. Jailhouse style. I Tested it with water and its good and sealed. Im going to wax the inside a little just incase cause I dont want to fuck up my clothes. It still looks nasty so im going to sand off the extra plastic parts. I hate markers with like tape on them they look like shit.

HINT: Make sure you have the chapstick turned all the way down, cause i only had mine halfway down and now i cant put too much ink in it :( And dont melt throught the plastic and dont make it weak Use the plastic from the extra rim/lip part and make it flush

i used a montana marker, and i hit an electrical box with it. and two weeks later my friend went up to it with a snow/ice chunk from the road, and wiped it, just joking, and surprisingly the shit wiped off...... i didnt want the tag to be half-buffed, so he wiped the whole thing off.. haha.... thats the last time i use montana markers.......just wanted to share this horrible experience

I cant tell if its Purple or blueish. Its alright thoug. Worth trying for the simplicity. Also how does this ashes thing work? Can I just burn some paper cause I dont smoke. Im going to light a peice of paper on fire and drop it in the jar. No wait that shit might explode. Oh well im going to try it outside I guess. Thanks.

To extract sharpie ink put a small ammout of alchol in a lidded jar and open the sharpies up and put the cartriges in the jar to soak out and seal it

i made a quick mark out of a 350 ml water bottle just before i went like two days a go i just used two ink refills and roll a strip of felt and glued it in left i micro hole in the middle of the felt so ink came out drippy worked like a charm

unscrew the top and make sure the pump inside is pushed down properly and make sure it aint cracked. cant think of any other reason why they&#39;d leak

Alright I just finished and tested me chapstick marker. I like the way it writes, its smooth. I dont like the way the ink is. Its too light like water color. I know I added to much alchol when I made it so dont add too much alchol people. I then put some ashes from a index card into it but I didnt notice anything. Im going to get a picture if possible.
Them shits were scooby snacks.

Is it any way i can make it more permanent?

yea im loving this recipie but i have the same problem

I made the niceest blue ever I put one dead purple sharpie cartrige and one fresh blue cartrige and its looking great
Only thing i can say is add very little alchol cause it diloutes the mixture making it less perminate

I need to find something that wont fuck the colors up but makes it stain more and make it thick cause burnt paper doesnt

yo i jsut thought of a new home made mop, though i havent thought it all out yet ill give the general idea.

1. get a mm&#39;s mini tube, eat all the chocolate or dump it (id eat it)
2. get a marble and ink of choice
3. get piece of eraser felt, cut it to fit when u put it in.
4. drop marble in and add ink about 3/4&#39;s of the way
5. put in felt nib. here is where i run into a prolem, i duno how to make it so you can close the marker cuz its sealable yet be able to get the nib out when you wanna use it.

what ive come up wiht is keep a glove on u when you use it and put it on and pull tne nib out so it wil write, then stick a needle in through the nib so it acts as a form of stabalization for the nib so it wont go back in the tube.

hopfully someone will come up wiht an improvement for this idea. it took like ten seconds out my day to think of this. im not big on home made mops as ive only used a kiwi mop.

iv done it before, but with a rolled up peice of a sock for the nib, what i did was cut the part of the top that has the cover and edges around it off, and used a film canister for the cap

get a bottle with a sports cap get rid of whatever is inside it and put some ball bearings or a marble for a mixer and mix some ink and paint together and some golden syrup its no good for big stuff but its the drippest stuff ive used but its makes a real mess when your using it so wear a mask or somethin so it dunt get in your eyes

i am making a marker out of a bingo dobber and i have a couple questions:

1. Do I need to put anything on the outside of the dobber such as duct tape or anything (i read about it earlier in the thread but it never really got into detail about the bingo dobber)

2. And when i&#39;m making the ink.. how much of each of these is the best to make a good ink? i&#39;m using krylon flourescent orange ink, brake fluid, and paint thinner.

you shoule put electrical tape around the outside of the nib and also around the base of the area that cap goes on to make sure there is a tight seal just in case it leakse and also to make sure the cap stays on.....as for the ink, you might want to check out the ink recepy thread, making ink is usualy trail and error

idn if anyone answered you or not, but those markers are really only good for books and stickers. personally, i use twin tip zig archivals on stickers because you get good outlines and good coverage, but you cant write over paint with them well because it smudges. so, it may or may not be worth it. theyre real good for sticker art.

actually at scrap/junkyards you should find some. they&#39;re pretty easy to come across just lying around. and if you want a streaker (markal) you can always order them free, or do as I did. I noticed that on the school bus they had one in case of some kind of accident or they needed to be towed or some shit. It was right there strapped up against the wall along with a first aid kit and some accident Procedures administered by the district. I just had a buddy make a distraction while I yanked out the plastic bag with the paint stick and documents, then I nudged him and told him to hurry up. it worked great, until I used it all up....

seems pretty simple to make.

just take the ball out with a screwdriver,
then using a sock or similar item, create a nib and a tail which trails from the nob into the marker which soaks up the ink (so it doesnt leak everywhere).

i heard decocolor ultrafines are really good, they have a nearly identical nib to sharpie ultrafine, but i have never used one.

today or racked a couple of kiwi mops and 2 of them had a triangle nib and were hard to open and the shoe polish inside of them was hard to get out of the bottle after i washed it 20 times and the mop had a strange shape and the nib had a hole in the middle
is this kind of mop any good?

for a pilot to be drippy, you would have to take in mind that the cotton inside sucks up all the ink, thats also why its a preferred marker by writers, as it doesnt drip and leak when not using it.
to make it drip,removing SOME cotton inside would mean more ink in less cotton, so more concentrated and in theory more drippy. you could risk over filling the cotton inside but it would leak out if it was too much as its not a pump valve system like OTR/MTN.

basically my suggestion is dont try to make it drippy unless youre willing to sacrifice the fact that a pilot never leaks.
pour too much into it and it drips and leaks.
the thing with the cotton should work..ive never tried but if you think about it, it makes sense. just remember to put something at the bottom of the pen to push the cotton up (if you take some cotton out).

epoxied it into place about 1/2 an inch from the top.

yea, montana and posterman (same thing, different ink and price) both have 50mm which i think is like 3 inches or something comparable. also, the ultra wide markers they have on crappy graff store sites like i think Art Pr imo has them, theyre junk though.

idn, it flows good so far, its the first real metallic marker i have really bought with a big nib, i just hope it doesnt get wrecked like prisma silver and golds. they get ruined so fast. crappy flow and valving.

an easy mini mop i made today:
take a chapstick
empty it of everything including the turning pole thing
make it water proof (i personally like using blue tack and melting wax into it)
get a permentent maker(sharpie, marsalot, whatevers around)
get the ink cartridge (felt dipped in ink rolled in plastic)
cut just enough of the cartridge so it fits in the marker plus a cm or two
cut the plastic that sticks out of the chapstic so there is just felt left
fill the felt with your choice of ink and bomb&#33;

i like it because its better than using a chalkboard ersaser. butits lines are all like a paint brush and not defined, but its finr for dumpsters and whatever and its tiny too

yeah adding alcohol doesnt make it more perm at all itll make it more diluted
and shoe polish aint ink and its unperm so that wont help either

my marker was sideways and dried out the nib and wen i cleaned out the kiwi container i found these chunky pieces of god knows what... i think it was either hardend paint or foam...

just chunks of paint... you gotta use em up quicker, or rinse em off when you come back, and its good as new, keep the cap on....

I found something like the liquid glue stick ones but it&#39;s one of the write on your car window glass paint stuff that you can scrape off or whatever. Works really well. Has a nice pump on it.

And I&#39;m working on a prototype for a better chapstick pen. It&#39;s like the chapstick marker but there&#39;s no chapstick container. You know those single flower holders? Well... I folded up some felt fabric, taped it up so it fit snug into the area and taped it up. Just gunna cut a small hole to fill it up. I&#39;ll get some pictures up of it here in a minute.

i think you can pop the back of that thing off with some pliers
take the ink thing out and fill it wih etch or use it as a testor to see how your homade inks look or a surface and shit

or just not fuck with it and get a real marker

i have two montana 30 mm mini markers but i dont know what to put inside of them
ive tried putting some inverted spray paint in them but when i pumped it it like didnt go through the nib but went through the spaces between where the nib is inserted

i made this chapstick marker and i dont know how to make the nib better.. all that is in there is one of those ink tampon things inside shit markers i threw that in there and added some pilot ink let me know what you think will work better

Just put a thin paint inside, with a felt nib.

I did. i got felt nibs. do u think putting a loose one in might work. loose as in it stays in, but it doen&#39;t take a lot of effort to put in. i heard sumone say having a thin hole in middle of felt helps.

It&#39;s not needed, drips enough as it is, plus you can squeeze the bottle for more drips.
You should put a few drops of crazy glue between the nib and neck of the bottle.

mine don&#39;t drip at all unless i push on it pretty hard to make the nib crumple and stuff. i got this waterproof india ink that i put in the markers today, i tried them, the tic tac makes huge lines, but only drips when pushed on hard. shampoo bottle has no drips. and u can&#39;t squeeze a tic tac bottle, it&#39;ll break. the shampoo is made of thick plastic.

So last night went to the store and bought a kiwi, it works reall well to I used some otr paint bright green added a little yellow into it and a little of the blue otr flow ink it made a awsome color and orks good. Plus side is I can really control the drip well....
