it has to be oil based bucket paint and u only use 2/3 bucket paint and 1/3 paint thinner. if u just put in the paint into ur marker/mop it will jst fuck up and dry inside ur marker and fuck up ur nibs. u need paint thinner so it stays liquidy and doesnt dry up... motor oil doesnt work, it will just fuck it up and it fades. fish oil and brake fluid are the way to go. get an eye dropper and drop like 3 drops of brake fluid into it.

EDIT
paint thinner makes a lot of inks thinner and drippier.
yo guys, I just made the sickest paint marker. I took some cloth and stuck it in the lid of a film canister and put spraypaint in the bottom of it, drippy and sick.

Not sure if this question has been asked but....best ink to refill a pilot with?? I'm guessing krink or grog but then again i only know about thoose plus hard to buff ink and plain old pilot ink. help
edit: can I take out the cotton or w/e it is from the canister to hold more? Or would that be a bad idea?
i just made a kiwi mop with bucket paint. does anybody know if acetate thinner will work the same as paint thinner? i use it to clean caps and it works fine. i was thinking that if i added too much it could eat through the plastic. i would just try it but i don't feel like fucking up a nice mop.

In my town the michael's has no security devices...you can get 25-50 markers at a time if you wear the right clothes...
I found that theyre paint markers were to thin...i like the elmers callig ones, they have nice thick, opaque paints in em.

Im havin a crack at makin a little drippy fucker, but ive got a problem. This is the first time ive tried making a marker/mop, so no beef. Ive emptied a Pritt Stick tube, and dripped hot candle wax in the bottom to fill up any holes. Filled it with my shit (not literally) and I cut up some dish washing sponge for the mop.
How tight does the mop need to be? (Or how loose in this case?) As when I try and write with it, it seems like the ink is having trouble getting through the mop. (This isnt a case of how thin my ink is either - its perfect) Whats the best way to get the mop in and attach it to the case with as little leakage as possible?
AoAssis
04-21-2006, 10:53 AM
for gravity mops the ink has to be almost the consistancy of water, like real ink, so if you have store bout ink then the only problem is the nib is to dense, the nib has to fit in there real tight, some felt tip erasers are more dense then others, like the one i use to have was super dense then i got a loose one from a friend, and in this case its a dish washing sponge well i dout ink is gana flow through that since the main objective is to soak up ink. and its probably to dense try and use a sock or something if you cant get your hands on some felt.

marsh or pilot ink.... dont use anything else
i took a mini mag light, and took out all of the flash lite parts, and cramed a piece of chalk board eraser in it, and it has a screw on bottom, for the batteries, and i filled it with ink there, it is sweet. also they are waterproof lights, so each part has a rubber o-rig seal, whitch is good so your ink cant leak out. and it has a sealed screw off cap...it all works great

I got a Pritt-Stick tube, dripped hot candle wax into the bottom to fill up any holes, put 2 little plastic BB's in to mix it up a bit, filled it with chrome paint, and superglued the sponge mop off the end of a kiwi shoe polish thing in the top.
I tried some felt before the sponge for the nib - but it didnt work too well for me, but I guess you could use whatever.
It writes dope, and its nice and compact - needs refilling quite often though as its only a small tube. Will post pics if you want.
A good thing to do with the Sharpie Paint Markers is take off the nib, fint the spongey filter and take that out....it makes for mad drips

This is not quite a marker in the sense it dont use ink, i was gonna make a new post for it but it didnt werk so...
Heres something for fatter more controled scribes, its a really good tool if you are bored enough to make it, i will get some pictures of some variations...i made one shaped like a T that hits 5 inches wide....HUGE fucking scribes, and since its in pen form you can write more, faster...
Materials:
Piece of wood to cut
Sandpaper – lower the grit deeper the scratches
Duct tape
Staple gun (optional)
1. Find or cut a wood block to the size of your liking. (Obviously you wanna be able to grip this s.o.b. so I would say about 5” high by 2” wide by .5” thick, play with these numbers a bit…it also will benefit you to round to edges of your block)
2.Cut your sand paper the same height and width as your block
3.Center block upright on the sand paper and fold the paper upwards on the block (the sand paper should go half way up, make sure the paper is nice and tight to the bottom)
4.fasten sand paper with a staple, repeat on other side
5.Wrap duct tape around stapled area to further fasten sand paper and create a comfortable handle.
6.Optional – repeat for top half with a different grit paper
any questions PM me...

grog as talked about previously is very strong..it leaves a much stronger mark than nero..
nero now doesnt have anilene so its not that strong..add some corio or grog (i dont know what american inks are good..garvey? dunn)
grog leaves a big black cloud around your tag also.

thanks for whoever answered my question about the OTR's. :) What do people use alcohol for? I know it thins the paint...but it is for water or oil-based paint?!?
it will work with both but i think it works better with oil.

Has anyone tried mixing clear nail polish in? I've heard about putting a layer over your piece when it's done, but has anyone tried it in their marker?

doyou have any idea how long/ how much nail polish that would take
and it could still be buffed
it would just take longer
actually i was thinking about that a long time ago nail polish would be hard to take off on a smooth plastic surface
imagine mixing it with some shit with fish oil and brake oil for example
and nail polish remover so it actually drys

People put brake fluid in all the time; it makes it harder to buff.

You dont need alchohol to thin acrylic it water based, alchohol more specifcally ethanol will thin some paint but it doesnt do it very well. white spirit thins paint alot better.

so far acetone thinner hasn't messed up my kiwi mop. i asked about it earlier but nobody responded, so i tried it and it works fine. i just stuck to the 2/3 paint and 1/3 thinner and it works fine.

my current fav (just cuz its so easy todo... dont have much place to make a mess noawadays) is modding my old flow pens...
-remove the pumpvalve
-take out the nib
-replace nib by glueing a piece if chalkboard eraser (fold in half) in place
-its great for paint based inks and really easy to refill. if u mix your ink/paint right it drips pretty nicely... oh and u might want to add a marble for mixin purposes

take the top off of your pilot
unscrew the nib and the thing that holds it in place
pour more ink into it until it is super full
then it drips and is messy and more opaque

1.take your two streakers and open them up.you should take out two solid paint sticks.
2.take a small razor and try and cut down the center.
3.stick both of them back together.
4.stick them in the tube
5.freeze for a while
6.take it out and heat up for a second so they bond to each other.
7.tear shit up

hell no, you only need a SMALL ammunt of break fluid, otherwise it wont dry. that what the break fluid does, it makes the ink/paint sit there for a longer time still wet so it has more time to seep in and stain shit, that and its mildly corrosive, but not really.

SEARCH!!!!!!! i dont know why im telling you, but
1) earaser nip, sponge
2) homemade
^^ I never thought of usin a sponge before. Ill try that. Thanks 4 the idea :)

my homemades are made from the tryed and tru deo stick and a big ol glue stick. for nibs i got a hold of some THICK and thin pieces of felt and cut them to size w/ a razor. i personaly like the glu stick i made a seal so it doesn't leak and its just way cleaner than a deo stick.(fill w/ krink silva, marsh or garvs.)

to kiks or whoever, you can get pilots at some sam's club stores, but not most.
you can order them real cheap on the sams club website and i think you can order to store pickup, but im not sure.
with my pilot (black) i refill it with otr h2b purple mix and i never clean it out first.
i just flood it and then drain any leakage in the cap back into the ink bottle.
on the sams club web site i tried gettin one for pickup, but to do that u have to order like a computer or sumthin

make the nib however big you want it. make it suit YOUR personal needs.
there is no cookie-cutter answer for that question.
and good inks can be found on the bombing science store, the art primo store (costs more but they have garvey), or in some office supply stores. stamp pad ink is pretty much the most permanent liquid ink you can buy in most office supply stores.

will all of the inks on bombingscience work for any marker? i tried to use ink for like fountain pens but it comes out way to quickly.

is using a sponge just as good as felt?, thats for a home-made.. i cant get felt around here...
BRAINE

sponge would probly flow faster and drip more. like the kiwi nib is a sponge and a pilot nib is dense felt-like material. i think. i have only made a few homemades and all with types of felt.
This is the store-bought ink that you can buy at officedepot and other places, it works good with no additives for the average toy.

you may want to add things to make it stain and whatnot, but its what the OGs used when they didnt have ink recipes on the internerd.

my friend got some of that but it wouldnt dry for like 3 days but its till tight with a little brake fluid in it and its super easily racked from the longs drugs in my town more than half the cameras are fake
ya those are kinda cool i guess, i just add thinner, and salt, and it dries quicker
does any one know how to make an ultra wide not have streaks cus mine doesnt write with the whole nib but sort of wit the sides
and i filled it with garvey
^^^^^^like the deoderant shaped 1's???
yea
one and a half inch nibs

the longer ink takes to dry the better, sometimes. i have never really used it, but i have heard alot about it. just use lighter fluid to make inks dry faster. the kind that evaporates really fast. plus helps it stain

What about those water based markers? They got a long round tube, and you just pop it off, take out the ink tube, pour in your ink, replace the top, let the fresh ink flow into the tip, and go. But the only problem is that the ink drips out of the cap, how do I stop that? Plus that tip will drip if you hold it with the tip facing down. Should I just throw it away, and make a film container one or what?

yea kewi mops are by far the best because of there availibility world wide u can get them in doller stores.. i found that the ones used fer fixing buffs in white shoes is the best because of the roundtip.. just punk that shit, bring it home, pop of the plastic piece holding the nib in, inside the nib is a thin rubber stoper that allows only one drop of paint out @ a time so rip that out and replace it with a strip off an sos pad, poor out the white chalky liquid, and fill with tremclade aluminum bucket paint.. no need for thinner with that stuff it's already drippy... u might wanna add a marble or ball bearing fer mixing purposes
how is the fountain brush, i dont get exactly what it is, does it leave consistant lines, and does it drip or what?? :D
