Well, if that's the case, then I do have a question for you guys...

Once I start using felt for my nibs, do I have to get the felt off of chalkboard erasers? Or can I get get a sheet or two from Michaels? Is there a big difference between the two? I'm planning on experimenting a lot more with the envelope moistener mops, so I want a lot of options to choose from.

Well....chalkboard eraser felt seems to work the best....i wouldnt use sheet felt....a good nib would be a sponge wish a sock wrapped over the top of it....:D ....if you need further instructions on that...IM me...Psyked123

Hm... I never thought to use sponge. The sock is to make sure it doesn't get torn to hell, right? I'll have to give that a try.

Also, my current t-shirt nib doesn't seem to flow too well. Maybe I rolled it up too tight, I was wondering if I should bother poking holes in it, or just make a new nib. I'll have to get a hold of some of that felt, though, I know it'll work better than the shirt. Thanks for the help, I'll post my results after I experiment a bit more. :D

yea i think, was it razor? i think so, came up with an idea to use a sponge wrapped up in a t shirt with a straw to get the ink into the nib. ingenious. if it wasn razor then kudos to whoever did make teh idea.

Take a sponge....cut a strip as wide as your thumb, and roll it up to find the perfect fit so it fits PRETTY snuggly into the opening...now, hold it in the rolled position....cut a piece of straw like 1 cm long...make a small hole in the center of the sponge....this will be the bottom of the nib....and make sure it doenst pierce into the other side....now stick the straw into that hole....then take some sock, a big circular piece....and place it on top of the nib (opposite side of straw) and cut it so the sock covers the whole top and sides of the sponge...but goes like 2 mm down past the sides of the sponge...now super glue/tape the sock like that....done! Now, put that in the nib opening of selected container, and leave it sticking out the top a little bit so you can actually write with it....then superglue it into the opening....done! :D

you can always find a use for it in a marker.
folded up for solid soft nibs,
or you can use 1-3 layers to replace mini mops/ bingo styled nibs.

Yeah, I remember reading somewhere that the circle tips sucked. They were all streaky and shit, like they didn't come with enough ink.

If your nib is comin all streaky and stuff,its probably cause your ink/paint isn't thick enough.Or your nib is possibly too thick.If so,try jabbing it with like,a pin or something

I think the nib's too thick, because I mixed some black oil paint and black drawing ink to thin it out. The mixture's fine, just none is coming out. I'll fix that at some point, I'm thinking about just getting off my ass and getting some felt. Or trying the sponge/sock/straw nib.

Let's say the mop I made is almost half the size of a pentel white, drips like a fucker, and the line width is one finger wide. :D What do you say, Razor? See that clear-ish part at the top? The piece that looks like an eyedropper? Rip that shit off. It pops off pretty easily, I just used the edge of a knife under the base. From here, either you can empty out the ink inside, or just use it. It's not too bad, though it is a little thin. Okay, once again I used a piece of t-shirt for the nib, but I didn't roll it up as tight as I had before.

I'm only asking because I can rack an unlimited supply of these from my job. I actually don't even need to rack them, they just give them to me cuz I use them for portions of my job. They get pissed if I DON'T have one on me. Are they worth trying to get extras of, or should I just stick with Pilots and home mades?

I have a few around the house. I will try them out. Can't hurt since they are free I guess. At work, they seem to leave clumps behind sometimes. I think I know that oily-sticky shit you're talking about.

And the Pentels seem to work real smooth on glass, metal and plastic and can get dripping if you hold it down for a second. But they are harder to come by. Only ordered by packs of 12, where as the Mean Streaks come in boxes of 24 I think.

Alright to make a ghetto fountain brush you need

Shoe Polish Mop (screw-top prefferably)
A Retractable Blush Applicator
Glue
Knife

Basically cut this open and take the brush out. Then glue it into your mop where the nib normally goes. You then need to cut it open to fill with ink and then seal it up with glue/electrical tape. That's basically it, it isn't too hard to figure out.

Should look like this when done.

i decided to use my otr paint marker that i haven't used in ages...but when i do a tag the line doesn't come out clean...it comes out clean on one end then fades to a white-ish color.....

Zig markers work great for refilling with INK, not PAINT, and white-out is probably way too thick to pass through the nib.

Honestly, the white zig markers aren't that bad, they're easily buffed but they're also very weather proof. If you cant afford decent inks or you cant make any, just use the stock paints in it.

So i went to the new staples they have here in my town and bought these today, left is a stamp moistener and the right is a window paint marker, someone wanna help me out and tell me how I can mod these (mainly the window paint one)

Empty out shit paint
Fill with ink
Place pump back in
Screw on top

The envelope moistener is pointless and sucks. They aren't really worth the time.

That will deffinatley screw off. Try using something with a lot of grip and turn as hard as you can. If turning it left doesn't work, try turning it right.

naw um..the only opening point for the marker is where i drew the circle, and its like welded on. if i break it off it'll take the pump with it, and it wont go back on...is there some secret method on how to fill and empty these?
