He has a point.
My dabbers are amazing but the nibs dont last forever.
I take a new, empty one and take the nib off and put it on my current using body.
Just change the nib.
Unless, ofcourse, you are talking about shaving it down or something for more flow.
Then be more specific, please. :)

I have a great paint recipe but I am greedy and like to use it for myself.
As far as nibs go, you can stuff a sock in whatever you want to use. Use the toe end of the sock..
Check the ink thread for paint recipes or whatever.

Ok so i just put some new ink im my marker (2/3 black rusto and 1/3 mineral spirits) and its coming through the nib fine but there is a spot RIGHT in the middle of the nib there its not coming through, ive been sitting here pumpoing this thing for about 30 min. now and its still not working like i want it to, wats going on??!?!?

Code_sucht
08-20-2007, 05:26 PM
I wont bother going back to look at the pics but if it is a pump marker like many others I use, it is possible the nib had something clogging it in that one spot.
Just change the nib.
I went back and looked and if you are referring to the window painter marker with the pump system (assuming is has one) you might be better off changing the nib because it is possible that if the paint is white, it somehow got on that spot on the nib and dried, thus resulting in that one spot being clogged and your ink is not flowing through.
So... Change the nib.
MUSEone
08-20-2007, 05:36 PM
impossible, i soaked the nib in hot watter before i even put the ink in today. lol

Oh and get on aim
idk if this has been mentioned before but if you take acrylic paint and water it down slightly you can put it in a visine bottle and then put 2 slits in the dropper with an exacto and then use that as a marker to write on anything, you can write drippy or not, on rough or smove surfaces, its very durrable, and depending upon how thick the acrylic is and what you write on it can be impossible to buff (off pavement for example). you can get some sick effects too if you just play with it
sir.one
08-21-2007, 12:35 AM
or just put it in a ketchup bottle, or glue bottle? im a tiny bit confused what you mean. do you have flix or a set by step.

irak719
08-21-2007, 12:52 AM
^^^^^^^ur what in a water bottle?
its about the same as using a glue bottle, its just a little smaller and easier to controll, the dropper you cna pull off to fill. when you put it back on you need to take an exacto knife and stick it in the dropper whole to make slits that way the paint will flow. i can post pics tomorrow, or later tonight.

yeah you can, but you have to be quick and your paint should be thick. erelmer's glue bottle's are second best to the modified visine bottles. if your still unsure of what i'm talking about ask me a question.
sable, by nib do you mean like the same kind of nip on otr's and so on? so wouldn't that just be like a mop, are you still using acrylic?
smooth_nuts
08-21-2007, 05:21 AM
you lie elmers wood glue bottles are the best
yean, they are hella sick because you get the caligraphy nib, but if its watered down more i like visine bottles the best. if i had filled an elmers wood glue bottle with straight up acrylic it would be just a s sick though, but totaly different.

Lol I was just playing with one of those pink highlighter sharpies up there^ and was thinking it would make a decent marker. But I found good idea..I was downstairs and I have dry erase marker that come in half and you can see the liquid inside cuz theyre transparent, I just emptied out the dry erase liquid and filled it with ink. It works good as hell, it's not that drippy (not into drips) and it's secretive.
Heh, exactly. I emptied it out, filled it with ink and stuffed a nib in place of the one that came with it. Pretty thick lines, and I can fit it fine in my pocket. Best part is, if I ever get searched, they'll just find the highlighter. XD

I like to use the nib that came with it..more clean. How'd you empty yours out? Just take the nib out and fill with ink? Im probably gunna make a couple filled with ink just for signs and stuff. Or maybe really thin paint since normal paint might not go through.
Well, on the bottom is this little white plastic thing, I just pulled that off with a pair of pliers, dumped out the ink thing, then filled it up. The white thing is pretty much waterproof, so it won't leak. ^^

What every other pilot nib is made of...
Compressed fabric particles I am guessing.
Similar to fiberglass, in a sense. Fibers locked together
If you look at a molotow 611 nib for example, you can see the fibers..
Just about all nibs are like this. Someone go work for the company and tell us how they do it..

The Difference between DED Outdoorsman is it is more fade proof, I have read.
DED Indoorsman ink stains harder, alot harder.
Chief, what ink?
And on mops, if you are using dabbers like bingo dabbers, I wouldnt take out the pump system. If you use krink, if it is made right, it will flow right through when you push it hard enough against the wall, squeeze a little bit, and write.
The pump system helps to prevent leaking. Definately leave it in with INK.

the ink in the pentel marathons. taking the pump from bingos is almost poitnless because you barely have to push to get them flowing. it makes more sense on kiwis.

you can also dump the ink from them and use it as darkener, and its always really good to mix with leather dye, and you can also refill them.
