does anyone know of any chain stores that sell markals?
i.e. lowes, home depot, etc, etc........
Just get a free sample from them. If they ask where you work, just say not applicable. I got a free quik stik from them

Which marker Would all you guys prefer.. Hardcore Markers OR Montana Markers??
both suck.
but honestly, i don't think it matters what marker. as long as your handie is good, no one cares if its buffable.
but to answer your question, homemades are best.but if you're gonna buy it, pilot jumbo marker, k71,streakers, or unipaints.

Which marker Would all you guys prefer.. Hardcore Markers OR Montana Markers??
I'd have to say the Hardcore Markers since the Montana Bombing markers are shit, at least when I've tried them they were shit. They were somewhat easy to buff and the colours where bleh'.
But with the Hardcore Markers I'm better off racking Zig Posterman Biggies that are basically the same shit ^-^

Today i tried out to make marker out of UHU stick... its fucking freaky awesome. I like it very much. And in, i made it too homemade... i just mix up 30% of rubbing alchohol and 70% of normal paint for walls. And for me its working great. You cant clean it, you cant just scratch it.

Shake it,maybe that will help.If not, your ink is probably too thick to pass thru.

08-06-2008, 04:36 PM
its cause you shouldnt be mixing rubbing alcohol with indoor paint... use thinner silly
alexhate
08-06-2008, 05:15 PM
indoor paint is most likely latex and if it is the thinner is water. and in that case water and acl. mix.
but 95% of paint is for walls and there is no normal paint so i have no idea what your talking about.

ohgawdxcarcrash
08-13-2008, 01:01 PM
there is a regulator in them, and the body isn't so squeezable. the drips aren't that good unless you make sure to press down so the regulator flows well and squeeze really hard. but KEEP the regulator in it because the mohair nib will go inward. best thing to do is poke holes in the nib.

try juicing it some more. if that doesn't work then put a nice dent in the body of the marker (bite it or gently hit it with a hammer) That will raise the internal pressure and make the paint flow more.
H3TT1NG3R
08-15-2008, 12:07 AM
not much, but all paitn pens do that, they clog if u write over acrylic, or over not compeltely dry paint, and shit liek taht, make sure u let ur shit dry liek 24 hours before u write over it wiht a deco. unless ur talkign abotu taggin with a deco, which is not smart, they are so small
Speedy
08-15-2008, 12:18 AM
I have big stuff to tag with. But what does it hurt to catch some smaller tags here and there? Sometimes smaller is better depending on where and what you're tagging. Thanks everyone. I'll try that stuff. Good idea with the denting too Vagrant. I would have never thought of that.

Nope. It clogs on EVERYTHING. I tried it on stickers. Nothing. Seems too thick. Shoeboxes. inside and out. wood. plastic. only thing I haven't tried it on is metal. I emptied it and filled it with custom black ink. It still doesn't flow right. The blue from before is still showing more than the black I just put in and I pumped the nib at least 100 times. I'm a lot happier with Painter's brand. Which is sad considered how much everyone brags up Decos.

The fabric decos that I have only work on fabric, and streaks if its on paper. and there is a difference, the paint in the regular deco's contain xylene, whereas the fabric decos dont

I shook the living hell out of it. Still nothing. And when I emptied it it wasn't chunky or anything. My Painter's are getting the same way. If you're talking about Speedball Painters markers, then I don't know what you are smoking.
http://www.misterart.com/grouppix/280x210/000/g31.jpg
Decocolor markers are WAY better than Painters.
Either you fucked up your deco somehow by letting it sit, writing on something stupid, letting it dry out, or not shaking it good before writing - which would mean when you tried writing you just got clear liquid and no paint - did that too much and then there was too much pigment in the marker for it to flow right.
I suggest you get a new deco and try it out.
And yeah, decos are mainly blackbook and slap markers. You could drop a mini tag somewhere with one, but they're not the best tools for tagging.
PS. Maybe your markers are just getting empty? Shit don't last forever.

Alright I haven't seen these talked about much in this thread, but I actually took the time to make one and it is so dope! It's an elmers glue bottle the 4oz one filled with blue acrylic. Great for writing on sidewalks and yeah they are super easy to make. All you do is get some pliers if it is an old bottle and open it or if the threads are not completely glued shut then you can use your hands. Clean out the glue and fill with straight acrylic, maybe like a litttttle bit of water but that's it. I used an exacto pen to clear out the glue in the cap for better flow and there you go. Screw the cap on and test on a sidewalk but it really works on anything. I will try and get pics soon. Writes on anything really so add something new to your inventory. Nerds.
ohgawdxcarcrash
08-16-2008, 07:35 PM
That would be a good idea cause it'll appear to be just glue. But I'd rather just rack a black kiwi and fill it up with some black ink, looks normal, and is much better.
letsg0skate
08-17-2008, 12:27 AM
Okay this is for writing on sidewalks, it looks completely different...the point of it is to write on things that a normal marker or mop could not.

The k-42's are like tide to go or fabric deco markers, but metal. I got a paint marker from markal that looks exactly like the k-70, but with a bullet tip.
They just look like decos to me, but with krink writen on them... o-o

I don't smoke shit. I'm just saying from personal experience, Painters have worked a lot better for me. And as much as I use my neon painters they probably are getting low. The Deco didn't work from the beginning though.
He said that it was a fabric deco.
and he's wondering why its shit -.-
When the hell did I say it was a fabric Deco? Learn to read the names when you read posts. Someone suggested that it might be a fabric Deco. I never said it was. It isn't.

there is no threads on the tides to go, so you can just cut them as small as you want. and the nibs are like half the size of the k70's, i swap the tide nib out with a woodcraft nib,

Ink, Gk, and GJ all work in it. Just make sure its at a decent consistency and after you use it, always clean the tip of it. And even if you're not using it, just shake it so it won't separate and get all sucked in.

talking to them would only give them a better look at your face, whats in your pockets/jacket/etc. i talk to the employee's that are putting things on shelves. i pretend im a tourist and dont know much english. they rarely ever suspect tourist. just keep talking about some foreign country, while she's trying to get away from you just shove something in your pocket or sleeve, and then ask for directions and talk to her as you exit the store.

A little art store...
There are always 2 employees working...
They mostly talk with each other and don`t care about anything..
And it will soon be september = schools starts...
So it is always full and the two are already stressed to the core

08-24-2008, 11:34 PM
if it is cotton filled like a sharpi or pilot, you can refiil it with new cotton and ink.
i have just squirted my ink into a prisma style marker cotton and it worked fine.
ohgawdxcarcrash
08-24-2008, 11:39 PM
if you're just going to put cotton as the nib, it'll leak. it'll be worthless after all the ink leaks out or gets used up. you'd be better off refilling a sharpie because its detachable and the felt inside the marker will absorb the ink, without having to replace the nib and having it leak all over the place. unless your highlighter has detachable parts, it's not meant to be refilled.
Dont worry dude, were just not as "hardcore" as they are....

Word.
And on the Markal thing, heres how i did it...
1.)take markal(s) and tear off paper.
2.)get JUMBO glue stick, not jumbo as in long, jumbo as in wide, thick, w.e u canna call it...like a scrawl pen.
3.) clean glue and all glue residue out, screw it back down to the bottom.
4.)cut out the spindle inside.
5.)split the streaks, push together, (not to hard) and put them down in the glue stick.
6.)get a lighter and hold it around the glue stick for a few minutes LIGHTLY melting up the markals inside.
7.)make sure that they are all the way down at the bottom, and hold it down there for a while to.
8.)cut excess markal off tha top, cap it. but keep ur extra cause u can use it for later if u need it.
This can be done using just one markal to if ud like. i prefer it cause i can screw it up or down like the sharpie, sanford and sakura streaks.

Yeah 2 (the white ones) are made of foam..
The other one is a mohair nib ..
(finally found them...)
But it sucks because I have to buy this Dunlop 65 lemon shit
for my guitar and it is expensive ( around $6) and it lasts
very long :/..
I think I`m going to pour it into another bottle and use the
bottle of the dunlop 65 for a mop

Doin good. Urself?
I had a seisure for the first time last night, nastey. I felt like i was tossed into a pool of large vibrating icecubes. I went to the hospital thise morning to get some blood inside me and they said they might have given me lukemia from the donor. shitted on my parade but i just got the result im clean.
I miss all the markals i had. i had a box of 200 assorted i stole from a steel workers when i delevered paper. fun.
I managed to create three from the little stubbs you never end up using. ressurection for the win.
Ive had enough of feeling rubbish.

shit man, hope you're all right and feeling better.
=]
Damn, thanks a bunch man. I'll definately have to try that.
props 2 u.

dude those markers are super easy to rack (michaels) but they are super pussy to a buff. pretty much come off with a wet rag. plus they can't b refillable. so i usually just take the nibs of them and use them on my other markers.

You can refill them. You just gotta unscrew them clockwise instead of counterclockwise. You have to put some muscle into it though cuz it has a little bit of loctite on the threads.
