Yay Or Nay?

I've seen a rep. system on other forums. It's made to seperate the good posters from the bad. Users can control other members rep. by giving positive or negative rep. depending on the post. Downsides can be controlled aswell. For example;

Only members who have above a certain post count/join date can give rep.
You can only give three rep. a day.

It seems to have worked on the other forums. Good members stand out while the ones who constantly have bad post's have made others aware of that. It's just a suggestion, but I think it could work. I'll let you as a forum decide, but again, it has a way of showing who contributes and who doesnt.

bs is a graffiti website, and therefore there is a ton of beef on this site.
this system wouldn't work here because people just take stuff very personal and dont take into consideration what other people put to this forum, if they hate them.
this might work if their wasnt so many members as well because the mods could help with it, but they have enough to do already

yea but even good posters who have their comments misunderstood at times wouldnt get that much bad rep. just a few from jerks who dont understand, but in general they would already have alot of good rep and that would probly be cool.
and new users who get too much bad rep too fast, or even vets that get too much could get suspended or something automatically.

I agree with this idea. A rep system would be good. All the posters trying to start a beef with others would soon be taken off for a little while, and the more they try, the more time they get suspended and then finally kicked off the site.

ya, the idea is great and totaly needed on BS, but all those ass holes that are getting bad reps will get all pissy bomb the place with new topics hourly and then they will down everyone else.

i dont think this site has enough maturity to use it correctly; you would have to get a fucking contract to get people to follow it. i mean we have the report button but fuck a clown if the mods actuly listen to any complaints (sorry mods but i havent seen your asses do shit about bad members correct me if im wrong.)

but good idea i vote we work it out somehow.

I agree with this because so many people have beef and some people are complete toys and just have a shit load of posts and they don't really know what they are talking about

the mods review all topics before they are actually put on the board and they would realize that one person is trying to make a shit load of posts

Taking the other side of the idea, how will it work? I'm all for using such a system, but how can people be rated with it, aside from posting? Unless that's the way you all want to try it. Then I'll just post once and a while and watch this place fall like many other Forums.

If a post is good and helpful/contructive the poster can gain rep. Mods could hand it out to keep it undercontrol, and once you get above a certain rep. status you can give some.

plus people probably wont be able to abuse it if you get the system where you have to have 10 + rep/or have been here for five months to rep someone

I think 12 oz has a rep system.. personally I think it would be a good/fun idea.. but; A - is BS mature enough to do something like this, and B - what good would it do? There was already a poll on getting rid of the post counter.. what use would a rep system have?

if there is one, there shud be a 100-200 post count minimum to prevent fags from creating accounts and repping up themselves, and also prevents new fags from repping down everyone they see
