what kind of security are we talking about... I read a topic that said that some 1 had to run for his life tring to tag a train... but what the fuck is so dangerous about tagging trains ?
well besides hobos, getting hit by train, electricution, cops, there absolutley nothing to worry about
jurass finish first

what if you trip and fall though... you could get a badass scrape on your knee, or even a hole in your pants
are we talking freights or commuters? because freight yards generaly dont have a whole lot of security, accept the occasional visit from bulls. but if your talking about commuters, whats a whole differant story
I think shampoo is talking about train yards, like freights and shit. not subways...

shit in montreal you have to hide in the subway to be able to tag it then leave from holes in the tunnels
ive been in the subway tunnel it was scary. the trains come fast and alot. as for getting electricuted thats only when a trains coming.

no you dont hae to do a lot of whats been said.
but this is definatly not the place to talk about that kind of shit.
most yards are owned by someone or another and usually they dont bother with toys hitting them but if they do see you painting they might issue the smnack down. there is tonnes of shit to worry about if you want to do it right.
if you dont know how to hit trains you definatly shouldnt be hitting them.

if its a subway track you can get electricuted as long as the track is active.
you dont have to worry about getting electricuted on a train track though.

its not the actual tracks. there are usually power rails either down the middle or on the side. some communters have them above, but thats only on older sysytems.
the first subway was in paris.
saskatoon is the capital of your moms
no that is a ladder. the tracks are under the train in the first pic. they look like normal tracks with a big piece of metal to the one side.
id be to shook to go into subway tunnels

if there isnt anything there besides tracks then i think their classified as 'trains' because the're self propelled

we dont got commuter trains here is seattle, we habe a monorail and that shit is soooo tight, its impossible to try and hit it without getting into a pair of cuffs.

yes, the 3rd rail has over 600 volts, or maybe its 750, not sure, but definately enough to fry you alive. its not acctualy on the tracks in the ny system (atleast the above ground trains, dont know if they are the same as the subway, im not from new york) but the 3rd rail is acctualy on the side and its elevated above the other tracks, and there is a paddle that sticks out from the side of the train that runs along it.

i've always wondered if you have rubber soles in your shoes would the third rail affect you?
rubber is not a conductor, so no. unless you trip and fall, or take a piss on the thrid rail, you should be fine.
Adamo
07-18-2004, 03:08 PM
There was a myth around that if your pissed on the third rail your piss would conduct electricity and fry you to death. They did an elaborate set-up to recreate this using a dummy with some elaborate piss system using real urine and it didn't work. There were things set up in the dummy to check the electrcity rates and shit. Even if you were to stand in a puddle with no shoes and piss on the 3rd rail you would survive.
yeah, it was on that show myth busters. its because the urine was going into droplets before it hit the rail this it never made full contact with the body. standing in a puddle with no shoes has nothing to do with it. had they had a steadty stream of urine (which they fixed in the end, and the dummy got electricuted) you would die or get seriously injured. and when you have to pee really bad, such as the myth were the guy had to pee in the station, obviously he had to go pretty bad, it would come out faster and in a more concentrated stream, not turning into droplets at the end and he would be electricuted.
if you dont belive me go piss on an electric fence and we will see who is right.
Adamo
07-18-2004, 03:18 PM
ahh i remember that now...ya it was the droplets that messed it up then they fixed it. My brain is in a haze right now soooo i forget alot of stuff. Myth Busters is a funny show....they showed how some guys escaped from Alcatraz a long time ago and its crazy shit.

Many trainyards *boxcar trainyards* are automated *at least in my city they are*. Simply meaning it's a guy behind a screen with a joystick moving the trains back and forth. It's very rare to see any form of security out there outside of normal work hours.
When it comes to weekends, it's a paradise. Usually on saturday I can go out for 5-6 hours straight and paint box cars without even the slightest fear of being caught.
Most important thing about being in the train yard though is to correctly step onto and off of a train, especially if it starts moving.
To step onto a moving train *which I dont recommend!*, there is a step rung below the ladder, step onto this using which ever foot is closest to it. When doing this also hold onto the side of the ladder. Use the momentum of the moving train to pull yourself up lifting your other leg sysmotaniously *sp*. It's important to do it this way or there is a very good chance to sprain or break your ankle.
NEVER EVER step onto the wheel, regardless if the train is moving or not. Many trains are automated and no one is going to be there to hear your screams if the wheel cuts your foot off!
Now that the safety shit is done with, graff supplies especially on the weekends, lots of paint doesn't hurt. I've taken whole duffel bags of paint out there. Have a good amount of Fat Caps. I'm very favored toward german fats, if you're doing full cars top down you might need pink dots.
Biggest thing though is learning how to climb cars. I've never had the police ever know how to climb a car, which makes escape easy.
"awesome"ONE
02-09-2005, 07:41 PM
Alright Thanks alot man for explainin, do you have any tips on climbing by any chance? if not that's okay.
MrCzar
02-09-2005, 08:55 PM
Step ONLY on the designated latters and catwalks when passing across the car. It can depend jumping from boxcar top to boxcar top depending on the track spacing. Stay out of going inside box cars because the lock from the outside. Once you're in and the doors are shut thats it. If you need more height to get top down painting bring a small step stool. Some people are able to do splits between the cars if the track lengths are short enough between, usually they are. Just be sure to keep all feet, limbs, etc away from the wheels and rails as much as possiable.
http://picserver.org/view_image.php/I0UX2S5J30T9/128/p.gif
Sometimes when bringing a step stool is impractical you can climb onto the boxcar by pulling yourself up onto the door and moving around that way. Be careful not to fall, especially fall in a fashion that would leave your legs on the tracks.

To safely step off the train, get onto the ladder with your back facing against the train. Turn your body slightly opposite direction that the train is moving. Take your right or left foot *which ever foot is on the outside of the ladder*, step that foot onto the ground. While this foot is on the ground sysmotaniously *sp* step your other foot and arm on the ladder off. In a sense it is almost as if you are jumping off, but you're not. Practice on a train that isn't moving first.
It's extremely important that when getting off you step off in the opposite direction that the train is moving otherwise the momentium of the train will break/sprank/etc your foot that steps down first.
Never jump straight off horzontially! The momentium of the train will throw you across the track. If you are unlucky, there is a still string of cars there on the other side of the track and you will make contact with them in a painful way.

im scared as fuck when anything involving HV (high voltage) is involved. I dont go near train track, open up CRT monitors, TVs or washing machines, fuck around pipes. All those can get you electrocuted, trust me. Unless you really know what you're doing i suggest NEVER going near the tracks. Go paint on walls or something, don't risk getting your ass killed by electricity or getting hit by a train.
bumsuckfun
02-13-2005, 12:33 PM
just a note, high voltage isn't too much of a problem around freight trains, only metro/subways, etc. possibly monorails... aka, trains that get their power from the tracks as apposed to from an engine. also, some subways, etc. in europe don't even use 3rd rails, they get their power from lines up above, in which a metal rod sticks up from the traincar to the powerlines and gets power as it moves.

there is a train yard about a 1/2 mile away from my place it is super chill but you get your ocasonal crackhead pack of dogs or cops. my advice is carry a knife or a small club and if you see a cop hide on top of a train it alwas works for me just climb up quickly and dont make any noise. trains fucking rock!!

heres a fun little fact.
if u get a long piece of metal and lay it over both tracks near a place where a street intersects with the tracks then the ding ding ding thing will go off and the striped arm will come down and block the traffic when theres no train.
i used to do it just to piss people off when i was little. i was an asshole.

most frieght yards dont have security, altho employees may chase u, becuz they are operated by bussinesses that use frieghts. unfortunately, many of the yards round here r just the boxcars that they use 2 transfer wutever like 100 ft wich rarely leave the yard...
its really fun 2 hit a train that stops (freights stop frequently), unless it starts moving inwich u will either have 2 ride it or leave ur work unfinished, also that way u know it will be seen rather than stay in a junkyard for decades

no, if you wanted to blow up a train you'd simpy leave your bomb in a bag on the train while its in service, much easier. train security exists primarily against vandals and the last i knew security staff at yards in pompy weren't armed.

I was was standing around waiting for the metro (train) and I looked suspicious with a hoodie and all that (I didnt tag anything) and some dude walked up to me and looked around and I looked at what he was holding it was a clipboard and it had some sort of 'Montreal police' paper on it so... double check guys cause there are undercovers out there int he metro.
Just my 10 cents, I dont think this even counts for what you guys are even doing, like bombing the trains.. the dude thought I was just tagging the side or wtv..

i met a hobo onece and he was pretty nice.. i should have offered him some mc donalds.
but anyways, you can go safely to a small yard during the evening, just kinda look around and make sure you dont see anyone and everything should be fine. and look around periodically.

cops hide in trainyards and trackside bushes with tazers and shit. true story. don't believe me? walk the tracks a couple times before you start painting, without being seen.
PeeInTheShower
11-04-2008, 09:20 AM
why? because you think it's not true? it happened to one of my homeboys. cop straight up jumped out of the bushes after he was done with his first outline...tackled him and said "don't try to be a hero and run, you'll get fucked up". it's because dumbass writers blow up the tracks by using main roads to walk onto the tracks... go through a neighborhood the borders the trackside... much easier and less heated.

11-06-2008, 10:57 AM
haha yo kid unless you live in the middle of no where and the cops have nothing better to do that'll never happen. i've painted in all hours of the day early morning, mid afternoon, 2 in the morning. i dont like painting in the dark its more low pro but you cant see worth shit and then the next day you catch it rollin and you missed something. like buddy said earlyer, if you get inbetween the cars in the day time thats a nice spot. but then you cant really take a good picture. and dont listen to you ipod, i know i used too yes it was a mistake. you cant hear workers creeping, always be aware of whats going on and try to limit the times you go in the yard drunk because you just fuck shit up you wish you never did the next day.ha aaaa shit

idk where any of you live... but if someone calls the boys by me, 1st of all, they probobly wont show up, 2nd...if they want to, they will have a damn hard time finding me..do you know how many entrances and ins there are in a yard? ill see a cop looong b4 they see me
cops around here have way better shit to be doing with their time then chilling in bushes waiting for writers
as far as the ipod thing goes, thats some of the stupidest shit you can possibly do
you need to be listening for all types of shit when your doing freights....ocoming trains, bums, security, cops, crazy fucks, crazy animals
im a paranoid dude, ill hear all types of shit when im painting and more then 50% of the time i hear somthing, its actually somthing, and god knows what the fuck would happen if i was getting my bomb on listening to music, do that at a chill spot where you dont have to worry about shit comming up on you

1. you would be lucky if you ever see a hobo, these people live their whole lives without being seen. They will not "shank you" or rape you, or cut off your hand for the "frisco". if anything they would probably be concerned with you lookin shady creepin around in their area
2. dont be so nieve....all yards with any amount of activity has some kind of security.....trains are fuckin expensive, and loaded with everything from food, to plasma tvs, to cars. They are gonna protect that shit......... you thinking they arent there just makes the police's job easier

Don't get too close to the engines, seeing as that if there is someone there, they are going to be nearby there. Check to see how active the yard is, the one I have near me the trains stop for an hour and start back up, and with 12 lines, it can get pretty active. If you have a lot of lines, just paint the outside cars, don't get mixed up with the lines, once trains start moving it could be a while before they leave, and if the watchmen start coming down your line, you're in hot water. Check to see if there are any cans around, shows how active your yard is and can give you a sense of how much the people keep an eye out for writers. Keep a mental note of what cars are hissing and which ones are bumping. Stay away from bumping cars! Moving trains can be quiet too, don't let them decive you. Keep your head on a swivel. On either sides of the tracks there should be tire tracks from where the yard watch goes up and down the lines, keep in mind that route in relation to your escape route. They also can go down the train lines (happened to me the other night) so keep your eyes and ears clear.

That has to be the worst idea I've heard in a while. Those people have been working with the same people for years, not only will you get caught but you will face even more time for impersonating their employees, not to mention suspicion, trespassing, destruction of private property and so on.

okay so i found a nice layup, ive been checking out and hit just a few tags, still checking the place out.
its real small, usually only like 3 lines of trains.
on sundays theres like nobody there, the trains just sit there and i go and cant hear anyone doing anything, but then i went one sunday and i see this csx rolling up and some workers like put it in the layup, so idk if they still work on sundays and if its always that chill or what?
im kinda freaked about painting trains when theres people just a few trains away

Heres my one cent,(Im poor)read or skip over it,the only times Ive painted trains in Toronto were pretty chill except for one time few years ago I was in my old hood, went to a train yard, around 12 lines,I actually walked past some rail workers doing repairs on the tracks over the fence then snuck through a hole about 150 meters away from them.
I did a throw or two but my paint ran out so I decided to hitch a short joy ride, but after running up to a train and hiding in some small burrow-like opening beside a dirt road rail wokers came by with trucks and on foot,(this was around 3 pm)and a few checked the trains with one guy checking parts a few feet next to me but luckily the burrow was deep and I was still small(and toy).
Then I had hitchhiked my first train and almost fell to my death as I realized that the train was starting to go awfully fast by slipping on snow almost falling off 80 meter bridge over the Humber, and walked back to the bus stop and took various TTC services home.
Basically this is the story of my first train ride not painting so...
