do you guys have any recomendations here, i was out painting yesterday and i got frostbite, and also just froze my ass off. like good gloves that i can wear under latex ones.
Live4TheWall

Well thats part of the problem, I would just recommend getting a pair of cotton gloves, or like work gloves that you dont care about and use them. Cause what happens is your hand in the latex glove sweats because it cant breath too well, and then the sweat makes your hand all moist and water pulls heat away from your hand like 2/3s faster than normal or something along those lines.
I would also recommend layers for the rest of you man, layers are good. Get some thermal underwear, and good socks. And dont forget to wear a hat, their always a good idea.

keep your paint warm and wear warm cloths is all i say
forget about the latex gloves, yeah just get some work gloves or something like that
you can get those black cotton gloves pretty cheap too, those work
i use stanfield thermal wear.. pants and longsleeve.. then a stanfield cotton sweater and a jacket.. keeps me realy warm.
the gloves thing.. wear your latex gloves underneather a paint of.. " mechanix gloves thats the company name.. you can pic up a pair at like a canadian tire or lordco are any other place that sells tools and car stuff.. there kelvar top with a leather palm.. so they keep your hands warm but you can also have that nice grip from the leather.. and if your having problems with your paint. toss some socks into the dryer for about 20 minets then put your cans in the warm socks..

Hey btw I don't use gloves to paint I use those pocket warmers and stuff b/c gloves sorta get in my way abit...thats always an option
PIECE~~~~>FLAW SIK FOE RV DR
Keep them against you body(paint), or any way they stay warm.
Pocket warmers?

put shortcuts in your armpits to keep them warm if you use those. ive used them in freezing weather and a ny fatcap and the can popped on the bottom. i got orange paint all over my shoes and i left an ulgy ass tag that looked like someone threw a bucket of paint at it. im not sure if it had somethin to do with the weather or the cap on a smal can..does anyone know?

I live in Northern Canada...about 1000 miles above Montana. Just wear warmer pants...snowpants if you're gonna be out as long as I am. Go to a snowboard shop and get some Pipe-Gloves...they're thin enough that you've got decent ability to feel, yet warm enough that your fingers won't be numb. Larger jackets have more space to hide cans and markers and shit. Also, don't worry too too much about keeping your cans warm...if you're using the shit brands with more aerosol than paint, the cold will lower the pressure...which certainly isn't a bad thing. That's my 2.869000001 Cents.
Yeah, Flash...that shit was COLD. I was gonna hit some trains and said "Fuck that..."

It doesn't get too cold in Maryland.
Ireland is cold all the time we get about 2 weeks of warmness in july and the rest of the time it pisses rain and is windy. I wish we could get some Global warming in dublin
here in ohio you could go paint in your t-shirt, then later in the day it would jump down 20 degrees, awesome weather.

here is a winter tip. do your first outline with your index finger but your fill in with your thumb. this allows your index finger to not be extremely cold so it may actually function to do outlines. try it.

In the winter I just stick to throwups and tags because of the weather.
I hate winter; we got our first snowfall a few days ago- global warming has becoming fucking terrifying.

-LAYERS! MANY MANY LAYERS
-wool socks
-JACK A BUNCH of hand warmer packets from wally world, and put them everywhere you want. I put one in each shoe and it honestly cooks my feet, it's awesome. To keep the cans warm, put a hand warmer in the bottom of a sock, then slide the can in after it, this way the heat raises up through the can (the hand warmers last more than 10 hours).
-can't tell you much on gloves. I've been SOL in the gloves department. I even live in the middle of Colorado, and I can't manage to figure out how to keep my hands warm. Usually everything on my body gets fried except my hands (hand warmer overload). It gets below freezing at night here.
JACK A BUNCH of hand warmers....can't tell you enough..
edit: Rack one of those gun-like handles with the trigger that click onto your can..
http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a310/IhaveAsuckySN/sprayhandle.jpg
THEY WILL SAVE YOUR HANDS. They wont fit if you have a tip with a donut base on it (orange dots, etc), so stick with rusto with rusto fats on em.

put on 2 FRESH pairs of socks on your feets...
sweat pants under jeans or even basket shorts under jeans are not an absolute necessity but it helps a lot.
The #1 ennemy in winter when you're outside is humidity...
if you wear 87 layers of wet clothes you're gonna get frostbites anyways!
Getting in and out of buildings is a no no, why?
when you get into a hot place you sweat... it makes your clothes wet, the you go outside this humidity chill the shit out of you!
as far as paint goes i dont know why you're still painting in iwnter since it is chemically impossible to get somethin straight in that weather but as a snowmobiler i know a few things about cold and clothing lol!

Most of Graff paint works well in the cold... but when i use krylon or rusto which is my main racked brand..
I Keep them close to my body, like in my jacket ect..
Sometimes Wrap each can in a pair of socks if its really cold.
If i have more cans then i wrap them in socks with a hot water bottle in my bag. those baby's deserve it.

Winter is horrible, it's like 10 degrees here with windchill factors an shit. I can't wait for fuckin spring, cause there's no way I'm wandering around for 3 or 4 miles hitting up buildings.
But as for the topic, what I found was easy to do was (if you're fuckin old enough to drive like me) hold a can or two up to your heater inside and turn it on high. Then run out like the goddamn dickens and spit your fill and outline. Hop in, drive really fast making sure to hit a squad car on the way back to the safehouse.

here in finland it's -20 C atm, but we're still painting, and no problems. just remember to wear warm clothes & gloves. i use leather gloves, some use cotton gloves under gardening gloves... those latex gloves suck on wintertime. and shake your cans well, you have to shake them all the time to keep them from freezing... and some cans don't cover as well as they do on warmer conditions, but otherwise, paint like it's summer. but don't use latex or paint frozen walls. ;)

While you drive to the spot just put your cans in a bag/box in the footwells and put the heater on high that way the cans get warm...
Once you'Re there get a lunchbox or something that can fit all your cans in and throw the cans in... a pocket warmer can help also...
The point is a insulated lunchbox keep stuff cold OR hot... so basicallly you are extending the time your cans stay hot!

I disagree with the statement about high winds = mostly mist... Painted during hurricane "termoli" in italy 2003... my piece, as well as crew mates was crisp... like I said above... muscle through it... experience is the best thing you can bring with you when you go painting... reading about it online will only get you so far (not very far). yo no word of a lie , what i use to keep my paint from not getting to cold are these things my mom buys for her mits in the winter ,its these fucked up lil tiny heating pads i think they are called " hot-paws" or some shyt like that they go inside ur boots or mits to kep ur toes and fingers warm ,lol i have two inside pockets in my jacket , so i put like two "ho-paws" in each pocket , mmmm keeps my a lil tosty and the paint warm ,but i really only use mini cans called " just enough" in the winter ,cuz they are smaller and i can keep like 4 cans in my jacket ,lol i duno thats just what i do ,

this has brobably been said but for piecing in the winter bring a small cooler, like one meant for a six pack, fill a bottle up with hot water and put five more cans in keeps them nice and warm so no low pressure.
i was rockin my pilot last winter and after one letter the nib froze and i was more scraping it on a doorway lol. mops are way better in winter time.

Ahhh Also try to hit up places with less wind... I know that here in laval there aren't so many really tall buildings in certain areas, just a bunch of empty lots and fields and shit so there's lots of wind that makes shit alot colder but when I go to downtown montreal there's tons of buildings and shit and the wind isn't strong at all, and it's alot easier.
Sooo just saying in winter it's a better idea to hit up really urban areas with lots of buildings... I might be wrong this is just my experience.

if its so cold your paint stops working (due to aerosol molicules moving slowly due to the low temperature)
put in a scarf in your bag, fresh of the radiator, and check in a few of those handwarmers, crack em and stick em in.. then boil when you need to use again.
but doesn't get that cold down here. ;)

Edmonton is fucking cold right now its been down to -30 c with wind chill this past week.
Thermal underwear.
A scarf or pull on neck and lower face warmer.
Hoodie + jacket or bigger hoodie.
Hat or other head warming device. Hood over top.
Gloves, buy mechanic winter gloves if its really fucking cold out. They cost a bit but you get warmth and dexterity.
And you'll live.
Jeans are not a good idea, not during the winter.

Keeps your feet dry which keeps them warmer.
Got mad snowfalls out here right now.

Painting when it's snowing is the best- Wear a big ass jacket with pockets on the inside for paint and no one thinks anything of it. No one will think shit if you're wearing gloves either, it's winter. .....Beltons work well on icy walls too. Better than krylon anyway...

cause u focus your brain away from being cold to doing the shit and not getting caught. if u dont think about being cold u wont be but if ur walkin around thats all u can think about really. just like when people say time flys fast when ur having fun, when ur doin shit your not thinking about what time it is but when you not doin anything, your focusing on the time which makes it seem like it goes slow

I drive in my car when I go out painting... I keep the paint next to the cooling system and I just put in it on hot so the paint is nice and warm (also the cans ;))...
Then I put on my bike gloves (warm ;))...
and that is that...
i went out last night. it was around 15 below. just gotta keep the can in your pocket. only thing you can really do are tags and throw ups though cause you gotta keep the can warm. only upside about it is there is NO ONE outside or even wanting to look outside haha! Northern Minnesota. goddamn.

My advice for keppin your writing hand warm. get a pair of leather thin gloves. mainly for can grip. inside that glove wear a small cotton pair of gloves for insulation. keeps your hands relativly warm and clear of paint. i myself am gonna be doing some experimenting with finger tip insulation.

supposedly BEAT paint works perfectly in any weather winter or summer...
can anyone confirm/deny?
please
there are only like 2 months where it doesn't snow here and a lot of the safest times to get up is when the weather is horrible and nobody wants to leave their house
i normally just fuck with rusto for free or at a dollar per can, but i think after this summer is over i'm going to start paying for expensive paint for the sake of getting up when it's freezing out

It's easier to hear people coming when they crunch the snow, so that's cool.
