use deco colours for the fill and an extra fine tip sharpie for the outline. You also gotta move the markers quickley because the paint tends to bleed.

Dollard store paint on a dollard store hat
cheap and nice colors
you can use the paint to refill paint markers ( the acrylic base one of course )

08-01-2004, 12:03 PM
Depending on the fabric, if you`re having a problem with bleeding or covering, just lay down a base of white out or whatever you call that shit. That white fluid crap. Then go over it, strictly with paint markers and clear coat gives it some more shine. When you use felt tip water based shit, it gets soaking into the fabric and comes out lookin geto.

the infamous one
08-01-2004, 12:22 PM
fo sheezy  does the same principal work on t shirts???

odd_laws_broke
08-01-2004, 12:28 PM
I don`t usually deal with t-shirts being that they piss me off, all I know is that if you lay a lot of paint or white out down, you shit will become crusty and crack and flake. might be better to use some sort of method with felt. i`ve seen nice shit done with paint markers as well tho, i just don`t have the patience.

Oh shit. I just laughed so hard at that.

I use Painty paint-pens for everything, from my blackbook to stickers to a hat. Works out good, but the fumes are maaadd plentiful. Do it in a closed room for an hour and you'll be sleepin good that night.

blow pens would work good cuz u can control the flow, but sumtimes it spits out instead of spraying when you blow hard

if you dont want it to come off just getthat glossy shit from like home depot and just spray it lightly over it its gotta be the clear stuff tho

don't stress it, since you actually posted something relevent to the topic.

that's a pretty nice hat man. how well does the color hold up? does it flake or chip?

Swavey
09-16-2007, 10:24 PM
Thanks man, Im glad you like it.

Looks as good as it did the day I made it for the guy. If you look close in that pic, there is a white outline around the piece itself. that wasnt there in the final product, painting around it and blending the white into the hat makes the colors not fade into the white. Im a hip hop dancer, and so are all the people I make hats for, so they sweat in them a lot. So stoping fading was a must. Only the first hat I ever made faded, cause I didnt use the right technique, every one since then has lasted just fine.

This one was a bit older

hey swavey why not just white paint down to begin with instead of worrying bout messin up ur peice?? thats what i'd do.

Heh, that would be the smart thing to do!! Only reason I can think of for doin it this way is so the colored paint can fully soak into the fabric... If it in on top of white it may fade faster? I dont know... Iv always ment to lay a white "primer" layer, but never got around to it

airbrush or bust

otrfatcap
09-24-2007, 10:46 PM
no airbrush or bust crap lol, i do both it goes both ways....but yea swavey, i have a bad problem of just sayin fuck it i wont use primer, but it helps so much, i'll get about halfway into it, when i use a certain color and it fucks the whole thing up (in my eyes)...

i know someones got some flicks...

1: get a white trucker hat
2: paint over the white front part with white (or whatever color, looks best w/ white)
3: get paint pens
4: sketch w/ a light color like yellow

that's the basics of it
