Post tips and tricks you have on making throwies. Where to shop(lift) the supplies from and what brands of parts to get.

A good brand of LED is the RadioShack generic brand of LED's in bulk.
As for battereies, I still can kind good cheap ones to get, any suggestions?

at first i was like wtf...

then i found out you're talking about LED throwies...

anyways the only thing i know for sure is that you can take a postal sticker, a led, a battery some tape and a liquid paper-like stuff that is silver colored and is electricity conductive so you basically just paint the circuit on the sticker, tape on the battery tape on the led and you're all set!


anybody got other tips on these bad boys?

take the led and the batterie and tape them togheter with double sided tape, rap it once. then put a magnet on the side of it and tape over it but not alot...and yea just throw it on something metal like a bus or some shit

theres no art involved in most graffiti, a bunch of stupidass teenagers with spraypaint drawing swastikas n scribbling on bus stops is considered graffiti but there aint ne art in that

I think that led throwies are just a fun thing to do.
Ive never done them myself but fuck it i would throw some at a bus.
But as far as the projection shit, those are some of the hottest hands out there right now, and i love seeing them all light up like that that.

It's too bad the newer forms of vandalism aren't getting there credit. Every artform evolves out of nature and neccesity. Alot of people aren't wowed by tags and throw ups anymore. In the effort to be seen over all the rest of the writings on the wall, people are trying new things, and that's cool. There's room for new and old school. I think alot of this shit is dope. I don't think the old school NY subway writers would have shy'ed away from the opportunity to use lasers to project there tag across an entire building if they had the technology back then. I think they would had a boner for it. I saw an LED "Resistor" tag that was pretty hot somewhere. I'd be all over that shit if I wasn't dead ass lazy. I think it's time we start buddying up with the technogeeks. They can help us wreck shit. B)

First off you guys are talking about 2 different things, LED "throwies" and the research lab projector thing.
The LEDs are cool cuz you can throw them onto a wall and they can stick or have a magnet to hold them, and they glow at night (duh)
And the projector thing is cool cuz you get your tag across the entire side of a skyscraper and the whole citý sees it.
However neither of these things are GRAFFITI.
In order to be graffiti you must be physically marking the surface in a permanent fashion. You can't vandalize something with light.

Vagrant pretty much summed it up for me. The throwies are kinda cool but It just seems like so much effort to actually make your name out of them when they're so temporary. And the research lab technology, although temporary, is pretty damn dope. In the few seconds or minutes that it stays up, thousands upon thousands of people see it. That few seconds gets a lot more recognition than most tags do that run for decades. Just because of the visibility.

I actually think that it's ridiculously soft man. Because it's like stickers. Now, a sticker done well is rad, no doubt. But there's certainly not the element of risk. You throw shit on a wall that you've prepared earlier. takes like, 5 seconds, right? But they don't even look that dope.
