So Im curious as to whether or not anyone here has done some investing.
All it takes is an online trading account (like 20 dollars a trade), Some money to begin with and hopefully some good advice.
Right now I'm invested in two companies, Jura energy corporation and as of yesterday Mega Uranium Ltd.
Anyone looking to make their money grow should definately consider investing in my opinion.. even a couple of thousand dollars is enough and can be turned into a lot more, with no work required.
In my opinion ( and a lot of people who know way more about this than i do) Uranium is going to be the next big thing. In the last couple of years its price has gone from 5 dollars to over 90.. with the biggest pullback being 48 cents. Surprisingly many Uranium mining companies are still drastically undervalued even at todays prices. That means that as Uranium continues to rise (mainly due to the upcoming end of cheap oil) Uranium's going to go through the roof.
I'll try and scan some good articles on the subject later.
Lets hear your opinions and thoughts.

yeah dude anywhere..
all you gotta do is signup for an online trading account.. which i highly recommend so you dont pay the ridiculous stock broker fees.
i think all of the major banks have online trading accounts you can sign up for.
or etrade.ca is another.

If u want a good field to go into try real estate investment. Its what i currently do now. You dont have to have a real estate license to do it either, but your credit better be pretty good or you'll get set back almost a year. And Like AA said if you dont know much dont do it, or you'll screw yourself for LIFE...

I'm not much of an invester but I've had an 457k retirement plan that I have been contributing 500 bucks a month for the last 8 years and have well over one and a half mill just sitting there... this is how a high school only grad gets to buy a ferrari when he turns 40 in five ,(gasp),years...
the secret is to not fuck with it,and yes that uranium stuff is a hot ticket,so I hear...
my plan when I started the 457k was to be able to retire at 45 and so far it's working in my favor...
I have a regular 8 to 430 job making 15 bucks an hour.
and to supplement this modest income started mowing lawns after work and on the weekends...initial investment was 500 bucks ,that has evolved into a full scale landscaping ,design, installation and maintenance company that earns an average of 5k a month profit...with no advertising and no web site, all of my contacts are made only by word of mouth...and I'm not that great of a salesperson...
the biggest investment one can make for themselvs is developing the discipline to save rather than splurge while they are young

uranium is mined for use in nuclear power stations....
I think we need to punish certain companies by boycotting them and their producxts. Exxon is a perfect example. The Valdeez oil spill was never aid for by the company, even though the captain of the tanker was drunk. Halliburton's made millions from no-bid government contracts in Iraq.
We should invest in what we both find economically satisfying and socially acceptable, like Wachovia, Google, Yahoo, and CVS. I think Zealot is the supreme capitalist with his hate of Islam and love of the stock market. It's not a bad thing though (the latter I mean). Er'rybody needs to make some change right?
Also, we should all pool some money together, and buy Rustoleum's stock out, change the marketing campaign, and demand full color selection at every Rusto provider.

Yeah My Dad and stepmom are all about investing. Rich fuckers. I havnt gotten to that point yet, But yeah saving while your young is awesome advice because I have next to no bills, I dont have a car as of now, so I literally have nothing to spend my money on. I dont have a job anymore but when I did I was putting little over half my paycheck into an account in wachovia I've had since I was really little, its got like a 12% intrest rate too, some stupid offer they had back when it was still Core States. Bet they regret that now, but yeah its up to a little over 16 grand (I also had 4 thousand put in when my great grandmother died). I dont really plan on touching it at all, just kinda adding to it randomly. Just being smart with money makes so much of a difference. I've also got a CD with like 2 grand from a car accident I was in a couple years back.
Being a minimalist probably helps alot too. haha.

save first then buy...walk in with a thousand bucks
to find an investment firm is easy as looking in the phone book or
google the word investment...
the reason I say save first is because the discipline it takes
to save money will prepare your mind for investing...
open a small savings account that requires a 25 dollar minimum to open,(if that's all you can scrounge)and add to it when you can...instead of buying a carton of cigarettes,(fifty bucks)drop by the old bank and make a deposit (bum smoke when you can),instead of buying that new cd with only one good track, buy the track you like off of rhapsody for 89 cents and take the other 14 bucks to the bank...
stealing is wack

Mold really all you need is an online trading account that you can sign up for through major banks or go to www.etrade.com.
Or you can find a brokerage.. but they are more expensive.
Im working on putting together a model portfolio for you guys that will be based on say 1000 to 4000 dollars of initial investment. and more info's coming. Start saving!

Little update for you all..
Most of the stock market is way dow right now which means there are some good deals to be found.
Mega Uranium is slightly down right now from where I bought it but seems to be recoverinig exceptionally well compared to the rest of the market.

Pinetree Capital the other company I am invested in is also recovering extremely well.

Anyhow nows the time too buy as there are a lot of great solid companies that won't be affected by the upcoming recession that are undervalued at the moment.

zealot.. it seems like youre a common sense style investor.. uranium is something thats being used a lot by the US government right now, with the war and all, so of course uranium mining operations stand to make a bit of cash.
yo man you should PM me next time you get on.. i used to do quite a bit of trading a few years back and ive been considering getting back in the game.. and networking goes hand in hand with any sort of serious entry into this game.
do you trade with an online firm or what? when i was into it i had both an online firm i traded with and one that was local.. really the only reason i used the local firm was because one of the partners was a very talented trader.. and liked to go out for drinks. ;)

i definitely would do some research before you invest in solar energy. personally.. i wouldnt go anywhere near it. if you think that 'clean shit' is something people are going to be into sometime soon.. look into ALL the alternatives.. not just solar. i think you are probably on the right train of thought, but different technologies are going to blossom more so, and faster, than solar. ;)
