ive been lookin at gettin a bike again. havent had one in almost 9 years. last one i had was an old school GT Interceptor. before that i had a mongoose. them BMX bikes look tight an all but my style changed. im into them cruiser bikes now. them chopper bikes look tight too.

any bike people in here?
someone point me in the right direction to find a bike that would be good for my size.. 6'1 230lbs

im big time into lowrider bikes, alot of kids in my neighborhood have them. and yea kay they are show bikes and the crates especially are uncomfortable for any kind of distance. i put together a chopper a year ago and its pretty comfy to ride and cruise around on. i also have a crate lowrider but thats my baby for shows. i ride my cruiser more than my car now. you're in northern cali so if you're anywhere near oakland go to the pedler or alameda bicycle they usually have a nice selection. also there used to be a sicck cambria bike shop in santa rosa that carried nice crates, choppers, cruisers, etc. check out www.streetlowrider.com they have parts pretty cheap.

back in the day I traded this kid a nick sac for this white on white mag gt preformer.

Two years later I saw it on ebay for 400 busted up. Turns out it was a Vintage 1985GT Preformer. The tire tread was busted and I had to get original white GT wheels for it, kmart just wasnt gonna do.

One night my moms kicked me out and tossed the bike out claimin it was junk.

Other than that it was the hottest bike in the hood, cides them three wheeled tricycles.

Another Mongoose had sick pegs this kid i beefed with climbed a balcony, to take it and toss into a canal. fuckin prick. :angry: :angry: :angry:

MM nice E-terror. Full steel frames will never go completely out. carbon frames tend to feel kind of dead (although a century ride w/ a steel frame can fuck up your wrists w/ out dampeners on your handle bars.)

yeah, i bought it from a friend of mine who painted it in a not so good way, didnt strip the frame down or remove the factory paint, just painted over it. i had quite the time removing all that paint. i started off just sanding it down which, after going through three sheets of paper, didnt get me very far. i went out and bought a can of paint stripper and it did an alright job but it made a huge fucking mess and didnt get rid of everything so i went back to sanding and got most of it off. it was raining outside and i started to see small spots of rust forming on the bare frame so i made the decision to prime what i had already gotten sanded down completely. for the primer i went for the somewhat cheap lowe's brand called Valspar. its actually pretty nice and seems to be getting the job done fairly well. the final color is gonna be Rusto oregano.

haha, and the taping off of the crank and chain is due to a lack of available tools. my biggest allen wrench wasent big enough to get the crank off and even if i were to get it off, i dont have a chain splitter to get the chain off the frame and then back on. so i just figured fuck it, ill tape the bitch up.

i might need to invest in theese however in order to get the whole job done seeing as i cant reach some spots with sandpaper.

cool enough, you gotta do with what you have sometimes. I used to do the same with previous reconditions. i've bought all the tools I needed since then. The small investment makes the process much easier and rewarding in the long run. However, if you plan on doing just one, then you're doing just fine.

i should buy a large set of allan wrenches anyways, seeing as the ones i have now are scattered throughout toolboxes and paintball gear bags. the chainsplitter i can probably just borrow from someone, it'll just take a little asking around.

this is my first time doing anything with a bicycle to be honest, but i do have a good amount of previous experience with various types of motorized vehicles like dirtbikes and quads and things.

The photo is indeed current. The whole bike is original excluding the missing front headlamp, the rubber, and it had a luggage rack on the front some 40 years ago. Shame that the back reflector and the head badge are cracked though.

24" frame with 26" rims my homie did the body werk I did the paint job candy rootbeer and candy orange there is some graffics going on I'll get closer pic basically just filled that space in front added that sheet metal fin below that(trying something diff) and sheet metal on the rear I primed it black then added grey on the high lighted areas and the graffix then layed the rootbeer down leaving the highlighted areas alone then put the orange over those areas all of it was experimental all that is left of the original bike is the frame bought all the parts and did you notice I got BMX petals on that? used to roll this shit hard down in SD but now I'm in CO and its to fukkin cold so it sits in a garage now.
