ive owned a Mitsubishi 3000GT for four years. and the engine has crapped out on me three times so far. parts on Mitsubishi's are Really expensive.


i say go with the mustang. v8 if possible. 1998 and up. the parts to fix em up are pretty cheap, theres TONS of companies out there that make reliable/fast parts for mustangs.

True, because it's a used car you're going to need to repair it quite a bit. Kay's right, it's easiest to replace parts for the Ford Mustang. I just dislike them so much because my family has been buying from them for a long while now and to be brutally honest, they suck. The only thing the mustangs have going for them is the power. I can't deny they have power.

The mitsubishi eclipse was rated poorly and averaged lower than 50% for the overall driving, acceleration, comfort level, quietness etc.
They only thing it has going for it, is the steering, handling and braking, which averaged a 6/10, and fuel economy which averaged a 7/10.
This is for the eclipse RS manual btw. However, the GT manual and GT auto were rated an 8/10 for handling, and fuel economy was a 6/10.
Which is really only what it has going for it. Although when driving, rough roads can make your wheels patter.
Noise? Terrible. Even though the wind noise isn't apparent, your V6 engine is.
overall, Don't go with the mitsubishi if you plan on using it for everyday life.

Go with the pontiac, 6th generation and on will give you a decent minimum 200 hp if you go with the 3.8L V6.
Of course you realize that cost starts to matter when you're deciding coupe or sedan. And depending on your choice of either one, fuel economy starts to differ . And sadly there are no Grand prix manuals. They're automatic which really isn't that big of a deal, they just won't be as fun to drive :)
You gotta weigh the pros and cons, man...

yeah, the power is there and definately noticable in short distances, but theyre just not that fast seeing as theyre entirely made of steel. also, most built up jeeps have axle and diff setups with real low gear ratios

I'm pretty sure the Grand prix is only automatic, maybe the newer models are standard, but you're going to pay more. You're still in highschool aren't you? Or just getting into college/ university? You have debts to pay! Don't worry about kickass cars yet (unless you can afford it) Besides, your first car is for dings and scratches, etc.
The Nissan 300zx, is a sports/ high performance car, with great handling and performance. It scored 8 in both those areas...
It's a 222 Hp 3.0 litre V6 in all models except the turbocharged one.
The cons were, poor quality for passengers in the backseat (due to it being 2door), limited luggage space, bad fuel economy and quietness wasn't that great. It scored a 2/10.
This is normal when you look at sports cars though.
What exactly are you looking for? Something that looks nice and drives well?
What's acceptable to the driver is always going to differe between each driver, because whatever car you choose that needs to meet all your needs, may vary to another driver.
When looking for a car, you need to first establish what you're primarily using it for;
What kind of car do you NEED?
How much can you afford?
If it's used, DO YOUR RESEARCH.
That is the most important thing. Research research research!
You have to know what you want because buying a car is an expensive investment...well not really an investment, more like a money pit...
I can't keep giving you specs, you gotta do the research yourself. It will make buying the right car more satisfying for you.
I can only give you help,
Test drive as many cars as you can, so you can get a feel for what you're looking for.

The Nissan 300zx, is a sports/ high performance car, with great handling and performance. It scored 8 in both those areas...
It's a 222 Hp 3.0 litre V6 in all models except the turbocharged one.
The cons were, poor quality for passengers in the backseat (due to it being 2door), limited luggage space, bad fuel economy and quietness wasn't that great. It scored a 2/10.
This is normal when you look at sports cars though.

if you want a cheap fun car that you can race on the weekends, just get a early-mid 90'd model civic hatchback. you can get one of those things dirt cheap. spend the money you saved on the car and buy a better motor/ parts for the motor.

a gutted hatchback with an LS motor is a very fun little car that is likely to take a few people at the races


or if you really want some power in it, try and find a GSR motor and slap a turbo on it. GSR turbo hatchback aint nothin ta fuck with

atom- intake exhaust and a header would let the engine breath better, and give you that growl...but thats about all...besides helping ANY future modifications....oh yea and maybe a few more mpg, but once you do those things, you'll prolly be drivin the car harder....so it wont matter about the gas mileage

now if you wanna get serious with that car and make some power with it on a budget you can keep the auto tranny, and get an h22 longblock out of a prelude, or....you can go ahead and get the full swap, and then convert to manual....but thats not worth it

you'd be better off finding a similar accord with more miles on it and a manual tranny, then use the extra money from your nice accord with 65k on it towards your motor and shit...

if you want a manual
but no one in your family can drive one
look into getting a tiptronic or sportronic transmission
with a tiptronic you can switch when the car shifts gears on the tachometer
its hard to explain kind of
and with a sportronic it can be both
but in the manual mode you just click the gear selector to one side and thats how you shift up and down or switch it back to automatic and its auto
but those kinds of transmissions are mainly on newer cars
so if you can go for that

soon im buying a 1.8vti engine with integra gearbox....then im doing a transplant into a Ford Escort RS turbo 1989 model....Then I will upgrading the suspension, brakes tyres wheels etc....then will add the normal induction and new exhaust systems....have the engine polished and i might even do a rebuild of certain parts of the engine......then will upgrade certain engines parts such as the manifold to cope with the a turbo....then i will buy a bolt on turbo kit.....then hopefully will have a fast escort :P It all shouldn't work out more than about 6,000 pounds when i looked and did my research and it will be a very nice project car......

Also thats looks like the front end of a Ford Sierra Cosworth but yep near enough the same engine as the Escort Cosworth....I actually think the Escort Cossy is much nicer and worth he extra money shame they are like 15K for a fairly decent one.....but then again they never seem to go down in value :)

a vtec is a lot more powerful than a ford zetec though....it might be an easier transplant to put a zetec in, but the vtec will have a much greater power output per litre.....i mean the standard rs turbo 1.6 is like 165bhp.....the 1.8 vtec has about 180bhp standard so once turbo'd its running at around 280bhp......its going to be more of a straight line/drag car than a get around car....im also going to try and convert it to be a RWD car so it could be used for track car if needed......forgot to say i said to my mate if he raises 25K i will get my left ball cut out and he will swap me it for a Ford Escort Cosworth....i would honestly loose a testicle for that car....love em.....

i mean the standard rs turbo 1.6 is like 165bhp.....the 1.8 vtec has about 180bhp standard so once turbo'd its running at around 280bhp

im also going to try and convert it to be a RWD car so it could be used for track car if needed.good luck with this, I went to school for automotive repair, that is a lot more work than you think, plus it is alot of custom parts you have to get made which will make this already expensive idea even more expensive.
I have heard of people converting Crxs fwd system over to a Crvs AWD system since the crv is based off the same platform that the crx is, still alot of custom parts tho

and your not gonna get a 100 horse increase with a bolt on turbo(I dont care what the add says) your gonna have to get a whole new bottom end to stand the added pressure, get a new straighter less restrictive exhause(not too wide tho because hondas and any other 4cl need backpressure) including removing the cat(s), youll need bigger injectors or else your AFM will be too lean, what else, umm, probably new half shafts isnce the stock ones are not ment for that power. Actually I could pretty much keep going but I dont feel like typing that much.

2nd car-1996 nissan maxima GLE(befor I got rid of it it was sitting on 19s, had 3 diamond audit d3 12's powered by a diamond audio d3 amp, jenson 7in flip up dvd player, tweeters, and totaly blacked out)

3rd car-1992 nissan 240sx with sr20engine and driveline swap(also swapped out the 4 lug hub with the 5 lug hub off of an s14 swapping wheels also)

But sadly I have nothing anymore

Eibach springs, SLP loudmouth pre axle dump, SLP chip, Ram air intake, LS6 fuel rails, comp cam.... i kid lol its still stock ;) though im willing to bet its stock 305HP and 346ftlbs would give you more of a run for your money than you think. Its beat turbo'd 350Z's before. i had 3 cars on him by 130 and there were turns involved.

And with intake and exhaust and a tune id put money on it.

0-60 average is 5.4 seconds, and i can launch it better than average. Whats yours?
