View Full Version : South East Uk Graf

OK, im from Surrey, and where I live, there aint nowhere nearby to improve can skills. To be honest, I have very little can skills as there aint anywhere I can practice. I've done a few good sketches and one large one on me wall in my room (two A1 pieces of paper, landscape, side by side). The problem is that i cant find anywhere that i can get to that is gonna be quiet enough for long enough, cos I kinda got a thing for wildstyle, and there's only one person who is really into graf enough to come wit me n look out / vice versa. If anyone knows of anywhere that i can practice n get some downtime wit a can, please tell me. Oh the other slight problem is the fact that I only got one other person wit me, so it needs to be a DEAD QUIET place, it dont matter if no one sees it, cos first pieces will be crap probably.

i live in london but im pretty familiar wid surrey ends wot part off surrey u from ?

08-24-2004, 08:17 PM
im not from the UK, but i know if u have any train tracks or abandoned buildings around, those places are always good...i live in philadelphia, and when i was a toy (i think i still am, not sure), i practiced in an abandoned mental hospital called byberry, and it was good cuz other writers would practice there and i could meet graffiti artists n sstart crews and such...but u should just find an abandoned building/buildings somewhere around u and usually, no1 will bug u there, unless they have security/cops :)

08-24-2004, 08:19 PM
the best places to go are, washes, undergruond tunnels, train yards, highway underpasses.... go places only taggers go...theres a reason they say graffiti is "underground" cause thats where you can find it look around and be creative dont be afriad to make your own yards if you find a wash somewhere or something or somewhere theres a wall that many people dont go to go there... or go to one at night theres less risk of being busted....

08-24-2004, 08:21 PM
Im near Redhill, u know it? Seriously, Im definitely still a toy, I got good designs but aint really done a piece on a wall b4, never found the right ppl. It sucks. I'll put up an URL in a day or two with a few of my blackbook pieces n if u all wanna rate them, plz do. And... this is gonna make me sound stupid... wats a wash?

08-24-2004, 08:24 PM
i read about an abandoned hospital somewhere in redhill, that may be a good place to start :D

08-24-2004, 08:37 PM
Cheers man, nice 2 know that i aint gonna get dissed jus cos im new. Im workin on the basic website now so in a few mins i shud ave it up, but its takin ages cos can only upload one pic at a time. Dont expect nothin fancy, i only know basic HTML!

08-24-2004, 08:38 PM
whuts a wash...lol... you must be english... its like aaa... lets see... gotta be english combatible.... its a drainage ditch for when it rains ya know thier concretehave big walls....great for painting....

08-24-2004, 08:40 PM
ah u mean like a giant storm drain? we dont really have those here, not that i know of anyways. the only place i seen one was on Grease!

08-24-2004, 08:43 PM

08-24-2004, 08:44 PM

08-24-2004, 08:53 PM
/\/\/\/\ true...and youll get your name up and get known....

08-24-2004, 08:55 PM
Ir0ny, did u watch NY-LON on tv earlier?! Cos they said thing bout bein dead tomoz on that! Ok ppl if u wanna look at my toyish sketches, go to Silvar3 (http://www.freewebs.com/silvar3). I have named each SilvarX with X bein a number. Please rate them and say something here sayin "SilvarX is crap" or wateva. Thanks ppl. Oh and freewebs.com is great for a free website (duh!) to host ur pics, only is u can be arsed to make a site. If not maybe i cud make a quick page for you, and u can send me ur pics via email then i'll put them up for u and send you the URL!

08-24-2004, 11:03 PM
your peices are way to complicated why are you even trying wild styles if you know you are toy. do simple straight letters and preactice your bombs and handstlyes.. amd throw those in the trash.

08-24-2004, 11:08 PM
...dont ever call yourself a toy again, ur really good man...i suggest getting a good bubble type style where you just write it, and hit stuff with that first, and as you get more experienced with bombing, then start doing your wild styles...your work on paper is amazing for a starter :D

08-24-2004, 11:18 PM
damn if your a toy i must be like a......i dont know but thats better than anything that i could come up with i stick with bubble and block letters

08-24-2004, 11:27 PM
you are a toy but you got the basics down...so i all have to say is keep it simple.

08-25-2004, 07:07 AM
holy shit there well nice, well i live in sanderstead thats about 15 mins car journey away from redhill, Im going to paint a legal wall tomoz in north london, dunno if ya wanna come?? How old are you aswell ???

08-25-2004, 07:42 AM
yer if you can pull off painting them then you will get some credit

08-25-2004, 09:04 AM

08-25-2004, 12:02 PM
Thanks monkey bt i dunno if can make it tomoz. If not then shout me next time ur goin yeah? Thanks everyone 4 ratin it, appreciate it. I find it really hard to do bubble n simple stuff cos every time i do, by the time i get to the second half of the second letter, wildstyle creeps in!

08-25-2004, 12:09 PM
just draw regular bubble letters, not even graffiti style, then tweak them to make them look better, but still simple :)

08-25-2004, 12:32 PM
cheers man. oh and monkey, im 18, y?

08-25-2004, 01:02 PM

12-27-2005, 05:55 PM
feelin you about the lack of spots, i've got the same problem. i live in like a fuckin little town in belgium. just go out (at daytime if you want) and just search for spots that could be usefull, you'll definetly find somehing, or you can go at night to other citys to paint with your bike or car or whuteva, that's what i do, its a pain in the ass, but hey. you say you got 1 writer with you; i'm always on my own; that's how sad it is down here. but i like i said, I always go on solo missions at night, somtimez to other citys to bomb bridges and hit up busstops with T-ups and tags

hope I was a little helpfull :)

12-27-2005, 06:03 PM
it dont matter what sort of wall you do it on, just go out late at night, use a different word if its guna be shit, and do it! will be just as fun as graff, and you wouldnt see it as practise either!

12-27-2005, 10:18 PM
Its ite for me, im new to it all...but theres a bridge right near me, underground thing that i can practice on, its like 5 mins from my house.

12-27-2005, 10:19 PM
Thats in salford by the way, fuggin manchester.

12-28-2005, 07:50 AM

12-29-2005, 10:11 PM
I'm from south east england, london to be exact and there may be loads of places here but ppl who graff the london scene have the violent and territorial sides to contend with so consider yourself lucky.but i agree you should get known cos then u might meet another writer who will show u some plots you could practise in.

I'm in Newport, South Wales, and then I'm in Bristol sometimes too, comuting back and forward, there qabout 45mins apart, but in Newport it's hard to do Illegals there ain't many places to bomb at all, but in Bristol there's bare bomb spots to go out and hit up...

11-23-2009, 05:10 AM
im from just outside liverpool and its pretty good here, thers a shop in the city centre that sells supplies and has a studio to rip up, for 2 per day, you cant argue, going later on today so i'll up some pics when im done. thers alot of dead industrial sites too, so if u get a blag letter of consent from the company that used to be there (just incase you do get questioned by the police), you can do it in broad daylight. gotta have a set of balls to do that tho. lol

11-27-2009, 07:30 AM
im from surrey, theres legal spots in guildford, leatherhead and byfleet, and its easy enough to get on the train to london and paint one of the halls of fame there

05-01-2012, 12:12 PM
just keep searching honestly, once you find that heaven spot you'll be set for a while!
