Recently i bough a 4 pack of montana markers. the Montana Mini, Montana 30mm Pocket, Montana Large, and Montana XL in navy blue, white, navy blue, and white. if u can give me any information on them like if there refillable, if they are easily buffed, if the chalkboard erasers can be used as nibs, etc. anything u can think of will be appreciated! thanks

aight, chek it, montanas are easily buffable cause its water paint, it'll just come off with water. to refill it, you need to turn the top clockwise. and next time, don't buy montanas, they're too soft so some inks will melt your marker, otrs are better.

My personal favorite is the pilot supercolor(black) its a great size, and the ink is great. Weatherproof and all the shit. For small tags, i use oil based paint markers i rack at the local hobby lobby. I believe most pilots are refillable.

motana markers suck in my opinion when you pump them its like the markeris peeing, the ink is really opaque and colourful but thats about the only good thing to say about it they are very easy to buff and arent really worth the price i have some montana xtra large markers they are sick on glass and give u sucha nice big tag but can get buffed sooo easily but wtv it will stay up there for like 3 or 4 days soo thats good! honestly get an otr hardtobuff they never fail ora pilot its a classic!

Hmm. I gonn buy some shit at montana online store and need you guys opinions.

Whats the best OTR or PILOT i should buy?.. hands down

hmm i think they sold out on the otr hard to buff( thinking of getting flowpen)

next choice thinking of getting pilot jumbo cheaper too...

well if you want ink thats harder to buff and that u can get drips with go for the hard to buff alittle more pricery but thats how things roll get a pilot jumbo at any staples or grand and toy.

then go on the streets and have a mary old time

i cant go out no where far or in certain areas....because of my mom and my fuken PO, and i literally dont have anything to write with except with a pencil, pen, highlighter, and almost outta ink sharpie(like four of em), and i dont even have my blackbook no more, !!! so im hitting a normal linepaper notebook, and im DIEING!!! JUS TO DO A LITTLE TAG WITH A OTR or MOP!!! IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK!!!!! T_T

im soo desperate im actually looking for objects that are not already tagged on.... except the walls. SAVE ME AND SEND ME SOME CHARITY XD...

the ink sucks, fades quick by weathering, easily buffable, the nibs are rounded.....
I do like the 30mm size however....

I owned a white mini, and I never tried to refill it. I would always just refill my flow pen. I tagged a carport in my friend's apartments with the mini about a year ago, and even through rain and weather that thing is still bright as ever. At least that is my isolated experience with it. I haven't owned another montana, so maybe it was just that one marker that was like that. I like the crazy drips you get from a OTR flowie, and the ink doesn't fade for a long time. I don't study up much on home made mops and all that, so I won't comment there, but I will say those markers you have will do at least semi-pemenant damage.

Thanks for the tip about the Montana's aCId II nz. I have a marker that is flourescent orange marker made by some people based in Japan. It has the same pump system as montana, drips and all. I took your advice and gave that bitch a tight spin clockwise, and sure enough, it opened right up. I have some left over OTR.484 dirty flow ink that's gonna refill that shit when it runs out too! That should make an interesting color (muted orange). I work more with canz, but damn there's just somethin' about markers. peace.

ther are refillable but i doubt u could mix the right paint solution
better of refilling with ink after the nib is very rinsed out

Montana paint is water based but that doesnt mean that it comes off with water. i marked a piece of painted steel in my house with a navy blue Montana 15mm paint pump marker and a OTR hard-to-buff. let the paint and ink dry for a day and wet both marks with plain water and tried to rub em off with my finger. didn't work even when I tried rubbin them harder.

the only shitty thing with Montana markers paint is that it takes a while to dry on smooth surfaces. that means if you just wrote with it and there is a heavy rain before the the paint dries, the rain most likely will wash it away.

Peace.

Overall I think Montana Markers are average. Becuase of the waterbased paint or whatever, it does make the consistency kind of weird therefore making it easily scraped or buffed off. I have heard though that they are refillable and that on some surfaces they can last a longer time. However OTR markers are definatly more permanent.

i rhink ive posted on this thread many a time but wtv i dont really enjoy montana markers the paint is bad id rather just go steal a posterman or a terra cota or zig woodcraft but im not that into colours or anything i usta rock otr hard to buffs alot but that shits way to pricet and can be bufed! so fuck that although the ultra wide montana body is sick i ushually just empty that marker and put pilot ink in it its so hard to buff and just a solid black that weather cant break down

talking of markers, all you really need is simple: just one fucking black jumbo pilot + ink. period. but if you wanna be like, a writer deluxe, you need X number of marking devices: 1 Pentel (thin lines, refillable), Pilot or OTR hard2buff (medium lines, refillable), shoe polish (fat lines, mad refillable!). thats it ! you know what, you won't be a better writer cuz you got all those fency markers you know...well, i act like i know but i got a whole bunch :) lately, i got that fresh n99 marsh applicator (wasnt my best buy, cuz the pentel can be as good...but not as fresh...) but you know, i might be a classy writer i guess !!haha

I have both otr paint and ink markers,
I currently own 1 montana 15mm and one 30mm (both paint).

Compared to the OTR(paint) they are truley amazing.
the paint flow is so nice, and even and come out without streaks everytime.
The Otr i find it leaves alot of streaks and when pumped the paint tends to go
out of the side of the nib instead of into it.

I have no comparison for the Otr ink to the montana ink.

But i can say that the otr hardtobuff is a very well made marker,
and is deffiently one of the nicest i have ever used.
(with a good ink)i like a hard to buff and garvey mix myself but you may want to change it up.I've heard flowpens are pretty good to, altough i have no personal experiences with them unfortunatley.

Me personally, will never buy another OTR paint marker as i have only had bad expreiences with them (but alot of people quite like them.).

I say go with the montana nice colors, good flow, A WAYYY better Size selection (15mm,30mm,50mm) and in my opinion an overall better marker.

Ps. You may want to try the 15mm Zig woodcraft (or postermann which are avalible in a wider varity of colors but are still the same marker although michaels rarley has them <_< )markers at michaels
the color selection isnt so good, but if your just looking for a black red white or dark blue your fine.
(also if you take out the paint in it and fill it with montana marker paint (or OTR)
it will be i find a very good (and excesable marker becuase sometimes getting stuff off the internet isnt always easy in all situations.

*cough*goforthemontana*cough*

hope this helped.

cL1.
02-01-2007, 10:11 AM
^^ you cant mix krink on montana markers stupid, that shit'll make your nibs dry like shit.

Montana markers carry 1 of the easiest inks to buff, their water based man.
they are refillable
but even though i dont like OTR markers eather, i'd still choose flowpens over montanas.
but the montana 30mm is fucken as shit.

Between paint, Montana and OTR are almost identical. It's justa matter of preference. Ink, however, nothing beats an OTR, unless you made a sick homemade, and even then, OTRs are smooth.

montana markers and otr markers (so are molotow marwell and all the other crap) is like a honda civic... the body is good... doesnt look bad, function pretty well but GOD DAMN what's inside suck! you need to put something else in it because the stock engin just doesnt cut it! i mean common water based paint... the pigments are good and stuff but its a joke to buff... flowpen ink isnt fade resistant and hard to buff is easier to buff than sharpie ink...

so get a marker body (the empties) a bunch of replacement nibs and try anything you get your hand on in it!

yup they do, ink marker, not bad for insides if you mix it with the right stuff.
but you do know all these otr, mtn, montana markers are all pretty much the same marker with roughly the same ink in em.

no probs. i was in germany over the summer and visited the montana shop. id only ever buy a pre-made marker with colour ink in it for insides. if you want a black mop/marker your better off making yourself one and filling it with grog, nero d'inferno, etc.

montanas are amazing in my opinion real good:)

harry

OTRs are good for toys in my opinion. when you first start off tagging with markers, you can't start coming up with crazy inks and shit, you need something so you can understand markers and shit alot better. then you can start adding variations mods and all that. dont go too crazy, take it simple and work from there.

Anybody who says that otr drips just dont know what's up!

kiwi mops/bongo dabbers/squeezers is where it'S at
