I got a couple random questions. Hope this is the right place, most of the shit on this thread seems to be about technique and style, but here it goes:

Some cans have a different amount of ounces than the familiar 12. It's mostly shit brands like Miracal and Color Place (10 oz.), but Krylon metallic silver has 11. Does the amount of ounces in a can say something about it's quality?

Also, can someone tell me what the origin of the suffix One is? So many people put this on the end of their name, since some of the earliest days of tagging it seams. I've seen people inside the hip hop culture use it outside of graffiti as well (for example KRS-One, although in his name its part of an acronym).

the silver drips looks like they&#39;re coming from the tag, tbh... it&#39;s well blurry, you need to go closer in and faster - your tags nice on paper but it&#39;s hard to read there.

alright i need help bad

i have my letter structure down and i can do minor hookups and simple backgrounds etc . I feel like i need to move on but my letters dont look like graff. Especially certain ones. So i need advice on how to make them look like graffiti and not just commercial lettering. If anyone wants to post examples of how to develop good letters that look like graff i promise i wont bite and i&#39;ll show u pics of what i do afterwards too just so u can make sure because i hate biters just as much as the next guy. if anyone can help then thanks a lot

Practice...just go look at graffiti and pictures on the net...look at what makes them look like graffiti...take that aspect of your drawings and work on it...just practice like mad man...if you&#39;ve REALLY got solid letter structure down, then adapting it to graffiti shouldn&#39;t be very difficult for you...

on your "t" make the ends of the top of the "t" go down instead of fliping them up

go into the 3d help thread and the what not to do as a toy thread they will both help with the 3d

dont use so many colors because your sketch isnt busy enough, i would take out the orange and try to make the 3d all one color instead of shading it for now.. just make it dark green or blue

make it better then post the new one and we will help u

alright. everyone always says start out simple. the way to sketch is to start simle with block letters, that way you can get letter widths and letter forms down. the picture above has lots of different widths in the letters. can i ask why people say to start out simple with even letter widths when at the same time people that have been doing it for a while don&#39;t do it much anymore?

is it that the same shapes within the letters are the same width? so vertical shapes are even in width and horizontal lines/shapes are the same?

People should start out with block letters. Not tech. to get letter widths down, but more to get letter shape down. With the proper letter shape down you canmove onto your own style. It is good to have proper width for the letters, but experimenting is key. The people that have been doing it for awhile DID start with block letters and their shapes down, and experimented. They know how the flow of a word goes and spins off that. They know what their doing.

My answer to your question would be, it&#39;s not nessecarilly that you start with block letters because you&#39;re gonna use them so much later, but more to just reign you in and get you to focus on your precision as well as the nuances of letters themselves. Look at the majority of first time posters.. There shit is everywhere and all ridiculous. The main fault being, they just busted out an emulation of what they percieved the graff style to be, but it&#39;s not even close to that easy. It really does take time and alot of concentration. By starting with block letters, your focusing on the fundamental structure of the letter. Master that and bit by bit, you can then begin to distort that letter, elongate, thin in parts, fatten in others, add extentions, only you&#39;ll have a more natural feel on where the distortions go because you&#39;ve grasped the basic form of the letter. Block letters are just laying down both a proper foundation and a proper understanding. People need to start simple because so many of them actually can&#39;t even do that well at first even though it sounds easy. Then they try and jump in the deep end of the pool without their water wings and scuba gear and they take the piss. And then everybody in the deep end&#39;s like "Hey that toy pissed in the pool&#33; Damnit you stupid toy&#33; Why didn&#39;t you stay in the shallow end&#33;"..............
