ah im just starting out and i was wondering any techniques for tagging in areas with alot of poeple or cars passingon like factories and how i should carrie my paint to be least noticable thanks

well... unless you're plannin to do some amazing yoga, I'd suggest you keep the can in your hand, maybe slide it up your sleeve or keep it close to your body so it blends in. Move briskly through the street, puttin up wherever you see fit...

Sometimes I find if it get un-aligned like half way through if you stop it then play it again and skip back to where you were it's ok.

But that's probably no help if it skips from the start.

and does anyone else find it really hard to paint in the dark? i mean tagging isnt that hard in the dark but thros in the dark are really hard! also do u ever experince much trouble when out tagging? like when i go ill be out by myself in a fairly crazy town we got thing like t-unit and gangs that just walk around beating people up... what happens if i meet other painters while im out or run into some drunk partying kids or hobo's? what do u guys do about these things..

To be true, there aint much you can do about bumpin into gangs, just stay out of their sight. Tramps are slow so you can just walk away from them. I've never met other painters, but I've heard shit about my mates meetin other painters... It all depends on who you meet, you might get your paint robbed, or you might meet some safe guy...

I go out at 3-4am, cos I'm in the busiest area in the world, so I never normally bump into anyone at those times.

The only other artists I know are my mates from school etc... and Monkey and Sika who I met on here, When people say that you can meet other artists from walkin around with paint on you and shit like that, I think it's bollocks. I've never seen anyone like that (I dont know if it's different in America, but here you just get a bunch of chavs startin beef).

I've been to this website before, a graffiti one, and it had galleries of writers, all listed by their name. All I can remember is that it was a white background with and orange font and it had a pretty huge list of writers on it.

ok, i think i may be buying some spray caps in the near future here and i just had a question or two.

i understand the difference between fats and thins, but whats the difference between brands?
like how does an NY fat compair to a German fat? or an NY thin to a German outline?

and how does a standard cap compair to both thins and fats? id imagine itd be right in the middle...

and what would you guys suggest? Im thinking of getting a 25 pack of NY thins and a 25 of NY fats because their the cheapest and i think thats all i could possible need at my level. And im splitting them with a friend.

Spuck- German outlines are alot better than NY thins. I&#39;ve found ALOT of the thins to be faulty, but they&#39;re a good backup cap if the G outline isn&#39;t doing it for you (G outlines take a bit to get used to) Also the German fat is an excellant cap and much wider spray than the NY Fat but it doesn&#39;t work well on certain paints like Home Accents. Works fine with Wallmart brands tho. I tend to use the Ruso fatcaps more than anything else tho. German fats are good for very quick, large scale fillins and fat ass tags with flares. Hope that helped. Stock caps are allright if you&#39;re really good with can control, if you aren&#39;t I wouldn&#39;t use them.

thanks, that helps alot. I was trying to decide whether to just get some NY&#39;s or get a variety pack with NY&#39;s German&#39;s and some rusto fats. Knowing that theres a noticable difference between brands, ima get the variety pack and try to get a feel for which ones i like.

Maybe you just have no tact, but when someones simply giving advice without any hint off cockyness and you say "post some bombing flicks then since you know everything about bombing..." it sounds like you&#39;re being hard. NCI doesn&#39;t come on here with a big ego, and he never claimed he knew "everything about bombing". That&#39;s all I have to say about it.

Spuck- I think you made the right choice. Alot of caps behave differently, so a variety pack is a good buy. BS has a nice variety pack (the shippings a bit pricey tho) You got a chill spot tho right? :unsure:

You dont have to have a big rep or have mad ups to realise that you dont wanna bump into tramps at 3am. And I know what the people (gangs + kids) around my area are like and I wouldn&#39;t wanna bump into them in the day, let alone in the night. I dont claim to be a good writer, I dont paint much, but that&#39;s because I wanna get my throw the best it can be before I put it on the streets, so every day I&#39;m skethin and workin on my stuff. Sure I&#39;ll go out and chuck my handys around wid pens and paint, but there&#39;s not much skill to that, and I dont see the need to post pics of those because a) I&#39;m happy with my handy, I dont feel I need crits. B ) you lose track of where you&#39;ve put em up. I havn&#39;t painted much because every time I have I&#39;ve gone off the throw about a week later, thats why I&#39;m waiting till I get a nice throw down which I&#39;m happy to put up.

I dont wanna be having the same convo with you in every thread... I realise now that I dont post much flics so I&#39;ll get around to takin pics of my stuff from now on. If there&#39;s some other reason you were pissed at me then say and try and sort it out.

Also if i fill it with normal paint should i add something to the paint to make it more perminent??

i got a question about caps. i mainly use rusto paints. either regular rusto or american accents..and the best cap i&#39;ve found so far for a fat line is the rusto fats. if the german caps are wider, then why do i have trouble so times using them on rusto? they always clog easy. and when i go bombing i wanna use the fattest cap i can.

Word. I got the same problem with them. It&#39;s a mess, but here&#39;s your answer. Stop using Rusto. If you really need the german fatcap, then you need to switch paint brands.

there are caps that go fatter than german fats...and if you find that it doesnt work well on rusto...then either switch paints like cezr said, or switch caps...

i used the stock caps that come on mtn hardcore yesterday on a krylon, and it worked fine.

cans make too much noise dont fit in my pocket and i only have crappy colour selection. and the cap fitted on perfect i just hads trouble getting it to click and locki on properly. and since over in AUS i can get fined just for having paint in my bag this is a way to get around it. now ill have a thing to tsag with all the time.

well if u ever want to go bombing or do more advanced stuff than tagging ur gonna have to get used to carrying spray cans, its also very obvious wen there is paint all over ur deoderant can.

Yeah so what if i gotta be using cans when i do a thro, when i do a thro i will go out at like 4am and only have cans in my bag for when i do the thro, with this i can just chuick the deodarant can in my bag and have it all them time and when i get a chance i can thro up a tag whenever i want, and also u cant see any paint on the deodarant can, when im not using it i oput a black cpap over it and put the lid on.

free paint markers and Im tryna do some slaps up.
I dont know if its cause thyre medium point and not fine point,

my expierence, and i use decocolors, are that you have to wait a good time for them to dry (if using inside, which you shouldn&#39;t) and its best to do a lighter fill color then outline. a.k.a. do lighter colors first.

There is a downfall to using prismas if you&#39;re planning to actually put them up. They&#39;ll ba a blank sticker in a month. Prismas fade. Only use them on blackbook stickers. Paintpens can stand up to the elements.

so much rain and stuff. if not then someone peels most of it away.

ps. dhl labels really get soggy quickly and stay srivveld up.

No doubt, I put one up and it faded like hell in 2 days. The ones in shaded spots last, but in this florida sun and heat it just destroys them. Right now Im tryna paint parker base with unibal pen outline.
The unibal pen stays good man, longer than sharpie or prisma.
I just cant get clean lines, i gues i hafta get the fine tip paint markers.

About clear coat, I tried that a while back and it turned the paper manilla lookin and nasty.
Anyone else have that problem with clear coat?
Im trying to find out about a really thin clear contact vinyl, if anyone knows where to get that thatd be the jammy.

looks like you&#39;ve been reading a little too many of mr.wiggles tutorials. loose all the arrows seriously. they look horrible. you really shouldnt use more than 2 arrows on a letter and evn that is pushing it. if you could use no arrows it would look much better.

There&#39;s an art shop somewhere in my city that sells Molotow paint, so I&#39;m guessing they&#39;d stock caps too.

Maybe get in contact with Molotow US or Montana US and see if there are any art shops in your area that stock their paint.

Maybe also say you don&#39;t have a credit card and if you can do a mail order with cash payment.

Ok... so took some advice and went back to pretty simple letters lost all of the addons... joined them all just because it&#39;s easier for me to do it that way instead of showing the overlap. Going to throw some 3d on it and colour it. just looking for some critiques before I do that. Some of the lines are screwed because I had to go over the entire thing agian because some parts didn&#39;t scan in because they were too light. but other than that I kind of like it.

Actually it wasn&#39;t from that site, it&#39;s a font that&#39;s on my pc called Reska Graf. And yes I used it as a base but I have to start somewhere right? I&#39;m not claiming to be good, that&#39;s why I&#39;m posting in the toy thread, because I know I&#39;m not... but I&#39;m trying to get better and that&#39;s why I ask for advice.
All of the other ones I posted I did freehand without looking off of anything and everyone said they have been crap. So i figured at least get a base down on a letter style that I like and others don&#39;t find so horrible then make changes to it to build my own style.
But thanks for the suggestion NOMX I&#39;ll try bumping the Z over and making it a bit larger it does look a bit lower than the rest. just a quick paint fix nothing special. basically you just needa remove thoe 2 lines you had and also when 3ding try to keep the lines goin in the same direction and angle. like i kept the 1st red line goin in the same direction and angle as the 3d line on the e and then the second red line i kept goin in the same direction and angle as the line 3d line below it on the z...hope that made any sense cause it made sense to me.

If you&#39;re out writing on stuff it&#39;s best to use a Pilot, most stationary shops sell them. For practising your tag at home you&#39;re better off with a cheaper, smaller chisel tip marker, which a stationary shop should sell. I think C3ZR said that wallmart have cheap chisel tips but I&#39;m not too sure on that cause I don&#39;t live in the US.

I think you&#39;re referring to paint pens. Stationary shops as well maybe or industrial type shops cause I think they&#39;re used for marking steel and stuff.

I can&#39;t help on the 3d.

Like where I am there&#39;s a couple of graffshops that sell ink and one stationary shop that sells pilot ink and the OTR ink is the cheapest per mL but it&#39;s still pretty expensive and I can&#39;t rack from either places.

whenever people start out with block letters and shit, everyone always says to keep at it and eventually you&#39;ll progress into your own style. well whenever i try to add some extensions or something, guys tell me it sucks and that i should just stick to simples.

the top one has more, but both have been said about not having any flow or anything at all that&#39;s good.

so what can i do to give a piece more flow? extensions have been on every part of a letter and some i&#39;ve seen are said to be amazing and some juat suck.

you should take in to consideration the style of lettering you choose and the flow. for example the bottom one would look alot nicer if the letters were closer together and capital letters, if you start with capitals keep them all the way threw the word. secondly take the green shit away and just use the red forcefeild around the letters it would make the blue stand out alot more

Hey Obseen, how&#39;s graffspot goin? I like the format over there, but I don&#39;t get much feedback from those cats.

PS- I&#39;m starting to grow a fondness of sharpies for blackbook work. They usually are darker than the cap claims, but if you know what ink you&#39;re laying down, it&#39;s a pretty quality fill.

Here&#39;s a tip.- If you want outlines that aren&#39;t thick and don&#39;t bleed, use a extra fine tip paint marker, like a deco. It&#39;s thin and it traps colors from bleeding over. ;)

ok, i was painting throws for the first time the other day and i was having trouble with my black krylon which i was outlining with cuz its high pressured and it was coming out too fast and i was dripping. Im not good enough to move my hand as fast as needed to cope with that yet. SO, i was thinking of depressurizing it a lil by letting out some gas...

i just wanna know, how many seconds worth of gas do y&#39;all think i should let out to make the pressure signifigantly less, but not to little to use...

I was talking to two of my best freinds that go way back with me about bombers and tags in the train arches where we was sitting. My freinds said they well wanted to get into graffiti and it just so happened now was my chance to show em some shit. I showed em some of my pics of my bombings and my tag with a marker on the wall. I&#39;ve organised to take em to the center of town at the art shop to stock up on paint with me. The problem is they now think that we are gonna be a crew, i don&#39;t really see the point in crews and i never have so can someone tell me what they think i should do? Should i go with it and make my first crew or just laugh and say no?

Krylon is kinda wattery in the first place. use rustoleum *Thicker paint but its higher pressure but with the right caps (german thins, etc) it shouldent be to much of a problem for you*

ive been in your shoes. krylon is kinda high pressure with its stock caps. *Once again.... with a German thin it sprays pretty fucking good* i dont know why beginners hype up krylon to be the best.. its ok... just not as ppl make it seem. maybe 5 years ago or so Before krylon started to water down its paint.

theres no way around it. your gonna have to move your hand faster. just practice. your can control is gonna suck for the first 6 or so months. after u practice u should have the BASIC shit down *no drips. ok lines* then after that your gonna have to practice More to get that down better AND to get everything else down.

letting out pressure dont really work. spraypaint makes its own pressure. *ever notice when u add spraypaint to a pump system marker pressure builds inside it?*

bottom line. practice. theres no shortcuts.

when you&#39;re starting out, for a tag, just use plain like printing letters, and just like write each letter of your tag out a million times each, and as you write em just tweak the letters a bit, a flair here a little bend there, and just keep doing it. eventually you&#39;ll find a style that you like, and you can fit the letters into that style and there you have it, a genuine graffiti style tag&#33; :ph34r:
