I rarely paint anymore. I did freights for about half a year when I had super accces to them, but then I stated redirecting my attention to street art with more of a message. Now that I&#39;m a dad, I&#39;m just fuckin with the blackbook mostly and working on some comercial design ideas. Any work I put on the streets now just gets crossed out by gangs because of beef. :(
As far as being toy, there&#39;s different levels of that, just like there&#39;s different levels of writers, and I consider myself kinda inbetween toy and writer. Watch the Waster12 memorial video. That will humble anyone who thinks they&#39;re getting too big for there britches. Waster once told me he wasn&#39;t really that big....But look at the work he put in...It puts things into perspective. As far as my work on the street, let&#39;s take a trip down memory lane...

most ppl come up with their own name. one dude i kno simply put together a mix of his favorite letters. another used his initials. I used a name that meant something to me.

Right so here&#39;s the deal, for the past couple of weeks i just havent been able to sketch, not physically but mentally like i have all these ideas coming into my head but when it comes to drawing them i just cant do it. It&#39;s not as if i dont want to but i just cant, i mean i see people on this forum progressing and then there&#39;s me who cant seem to get past stage one.

Has anyone ever had this before if so what did you do?, any advice is welcome.

keep drawing, theres days when i cant draw either, then theres kids like ras and knews who sketch 24/7, thats all it comes down to, practice practice practice, even if the ideas in your head arent working on paper, go with something simpler, its all about getting in a good mindset, and making that pen or pencil hit the page

The name I am referring to is Sire. I tried to find someone more publicly renowned that established said name, but I did not come up with any results that answered my question. I do not want to have a name that has already been in use or could eventually bite me in the ass because I am biting. An answer to this would be mucho appreciated. The reason for myself believing it would convey an arrogant vibe is because as you prolly already know Sire is usually used in the context of describing a royal figure or anything of that nature. I love Krylon minis&#33; Perfect for quick throwies, karaks or tags. The Graffiti World book is different then th "graffiti Women" book next to it. Both books are fantastic. Freight train graffitit is a great book too.

Yup. I think they&#39;re lame, but I&#39;m a sucker for anything pocket sized. :lol: The tip is too small for me to get a good handy on with and the paint goes funny after being exposed to air which seems to be the case now that it&#39;s leaking, but the have them at the local Hobby Lobby... and they&#39;re small... so fuck it. :P

It&#39;s a book by Philly king Espo. It&#39;s got a real old school edge. The flicks are diverse and pretty good but the meat of the book is it actually tells the story of famous writers and crews and drops some real knowledge about the game. Read the chapter about Revs, Smith, Kadism, and Gkae and the chapter on beef. Good read.

Im a new toy and was wondering what everyones opinion would be for my first book. Id like something a bit thicker that i wont get finished reading in 2 hours but i also dont want to shell out 50 bucks. my pockets are tight.

o and also. what all is good to use in a blackbook? ive got a 6 pack of prisma markers. and an enourmous set of prisma colored pencils ( back from when i took private art lessons). are those good or would other things be better? ive noticed the prisma markers are hard to blend i think cus they are so dark and they bleed alot.

Prisma markers are the way to go. Sharpies for the poor man. As far as bleeding, some papers make them bleed worse than others. Also if you use a extra thin tipped paint pen to do the outline work, it will trap in the ink so it doesn&#39;t bleed out.

books- "Graffiti world" and "The art of getting over" are great...avoid "graffiti NYC" and "NYC/BCN"...they kinda suck.

So when you sketch you do your outline first then your fill? I&#39;ve always done it fill then outline...is one way better than the other or just personal preference?

i would suggest not writing any variation of an name that you wouldn&#39;t wanna write in the first place cuz i write baze but i also put things like bazer, bazek, bazed, bazes, bazerk, bazrk, bzrk. so just find another name.

I always thought the arrow was used to convey movement, like if the piece was 3d and there was arrows (and you were a lil tipsy) it would look like it was moving or something. Im not sure who started it or anything but I hope that helped.

press down on the cap and look for were the paint comes out. once you find were the paint comes out, aim it toward your eyes and press down on the cap. ;)

Wear the cap on sunny days and purchase a nozzle.

In my opinion, it doesn&#39;t matter what you write, as long as you&#39;ve got ill handyrock. 3 letters, or 300, it&#39;s gotta look good, but some might disagree.. Noxer is a legend, but I think that dudes handys are trash. (nice throwies tho).
Side project- make getting the best handstyle you can develope your side project.... not a super long name for gimmick.

2) I&#39;ve seen video&#39;s of people doin tags with spray paint but I was wondering if there was any advantages over a markers...

I got any empty molotow and the thing shit itself even just with a few practice tags on a piece of cardboard but so far I&#39;ve had no problems with my OTR HTB, it won&#39;t drip unless you have the nib pushed in hard the whole way through the tag.

I think markers and paint have their own ups and downs.

Markers are easier to carry, like it&#39;s not a big deal to have one on you at all times. Sometimes they can be cheapers, depending on cost of ink/paint etc etc.

Paint can be used for flairs like alive said, better for getting your name up bigger. Can be messier than markers.

I dunno what the deal with "territory" is, but I was wondering if a writer can have a particular "territory" that you want to stay away from to avoid any problems? Also I&#39;m sure there is come connection with graff and gangs. Is there any way to tell if a piece is gang affiliated?

well its not like school. theres no "grading rubric." so its a matter of opinion. in my opinion? fuck yes you do. superlongtagnameguytwentyfive would be fuck hard to pull off and bomb with. i couldnt rock that shit.

shithead onerzzzz, Yeah, it&#39;s a cap off a deoderant can, lynx to be exact. Doesn&#39;t seem to matter what the cap is from they all seem to spray roughly the same skinny size. I still reckon the stock cap on the exports is the best.

Aces, yeah I know, but this thread was kinda dead so I thought I&#39;d throw something random in and be cool. I actually paid for pretty much all of that, sad eh? Except for like 6 of those cans they&#39;re all worth about 2USD. Most of those sharpies aren&#39;t real, they&#39;re rip off ones that suck. I "acquired" the woodcrafts cause they were overpriced as fuck. Except for like 3 of those OTR markers they&#39;re all these free ones I got off my girlfriend for free, they used to have liquid chalk in them but it&#39;s basically an OTR marker. Graff world book was free. Yeah, loooong post.

nice to see some good old exports n duluxs. i just moved from austraila a while ago and i miss the old exports. a few silver exports with a lynx cap thats been needled into a fat cap and a few black duluxs with skinny caps. all you need for a night of bombin.

I&#39;m assuming one just heats up a needle and stick it in the hole...

Oh and did you ever have any problem with the silver/chrome &#39;sucking&#39; up the paint you put on top of it?

youv gotta take a needle or maybe a thumb tac but the thumb tac might fuck it up. then you just stick the needle in the hole and maybe move it around a little. even if the hole is widened just a little too much it could fuck it up completely. it takes alot of practice and it easily ruined. probably not good for anything but fills.

and yes the silver/chrome does sometimes mess up the outline so just try n use a thin coat for the fill. plus i think quick fills sometimes look even better.

Quick question for yall...
So I&#39;m pretty new to writing, but I&#39;ve been into art for a while. A lot of my art is geometrically influenced and a lot of times I used graph paper to help with symmetry ect. I&#39;ve gotten some of my better letters using graph paper imo, but they are definatly different than anything i&#39;ve seen up on here. More angular I guess. Do yall think I should just use unlined paper since obviously I&#39;m not going to have any sort of lines ect when I finally get out on the streets?

here&#39;s a question...a friend of mine gave me a can of spray paint, and the cap broke off so there&#39;s a little piece of it stuck in there...I tried taking it out with a needle, didn&#39;t work, just paint everywhere. I also tried putting a couple drops off goof-off all purpose remover in there and let it sit...nothing. Does anyone know how I can get it out of there. Its an unused can of metallic blue so I don&#39;t wanna waste it or throw it out.
