I hope this will clear up some questions about paint brands. All paints will drip but some are more watery then others and will most likely drip with a begginer, Also I'd like to add its not the paint its the painter, you could have 100 cans a montana and your peice will still turn out like shit if you cant use it properly.

Rusto- High Pressure, Good begginer paint. (comes in mega cans)
Colour Place- Decent paint, Drips alot. Dollar cans cant go wrong good for the very first starters. The white is basicly water unless your on a primed wall
Tremclad- Kinda like rusto, High pressure, wont drip if you move at a good speed. (comes in mega cans)
Painter's touch-Very good colour selection, great paint if you got can controll. works with most caps but ive had alot explode all over my arms/face. (rusto brand)

Ironlak- Smells like plastic, they say its low pressure but i feel its more liek medium but its still easy to control, very thick paint. clogs caps liek a bitch
Montana Gold- Very low pressure, gloss shine, works with the mtn cap system very well, very light pressure valve.
Montana hardcore- I belive its gloss, High pressure. Easy to controll valve, the lines are always bigger with this brand conpared to gold for obvious reasons
Sabotaz 80-Smells like shit, works well in cold weather. Pretty thin paint mediium pressure
Montana 94 This shits way to easy to use, every writer should fuck around with this shit atleast once, It smells like bubblegum and the cap system is like a feather. I really like painting with this because its easy to use. Its a bit more expensive then most brands but at 7.50 can in canada they got some funky colours. Its a matte finish.

people keep telling me to do simps, and work on bars.

im not retarded, i can draw simple block letter, no style, etc. i can round the edges, make them simple bubble letter... no style.

what should i do to try to develop style, every time i post a pic, people just tell me to do simps. and its geting boring, and frustrating.

i want to start haveing fun, but everytime i try... i suck.

this is gonna sound dick but the reason you suck is becuase your not sketching eniugj, no matterwhat people tell yousketching is one of the mos important things you can do, your gonna fuck up alot of skethes before you sketh somethin you like, once youve pratically skethed yourself silly, make sure your shit is stilll legible once its intricate, then use paint, you can still have fun just take your time, where do you live, observe others styles around you, people that are good, im not sayiing bite there shit but by walking around ansd checking out other peoples styles you will soon grow knowledgeble on the style of your so alled area and then from there you can tweak your own style and put your own uniue twist into your own shit, go with the flow, to something stylistic but not sloppy, it is fuckin hard, your gonna fuckin hate 85 percent of your sketches a garuntee you until you do some good shit its just a part of the game, but dont give up start slow for example, make every single letter in your name a keyboard font ans add things to the letters to not change the shape but just add something that looks appealing you know but WITHOUT changing the letter shape, keep practicing stuff like that and eventually youll get it

oh yeah, and make your shit look like you wouldnt want to fuck with it you know, dont make it all soft make it look like pissed off, its graffiti were all pissed off to some extent right, lol jp:rolleyes: but seriously, uh yeah do simples but its more about skething, also if your having trouble painting i suggest a few things, first, using aerosal is way different from any other form of painting, you paint holding the can a good distance form the wall not lose to the wall thats how drips happen, i really shouldnt be telling you thins i should say figure it the fuck out yourself, but wtf i like helping people, also never think you an jsut take your time with a can, BRISK movements make clean lines, also dont let your hand shake when moving the can, you need to have a strong grip, you cant be weak. thats all the real advice i can give now, the secret to getting clean lines iis not always in the first blow, but applying layers to the surface until you get a line consistecy you like, alright thats all igot for tonight, hope that helped man, good luck to ya, peace

And I agree with Weak. When you find the name, you find it. You know you've found it. And yeah, expect tons of name changes just to find it. Don't worry too much about it though, just work with a name you like and get the basics of letters down and you'll find it eventually.

Ive used belton, its more of a low pressure paint. If your gonna do some straights or a piece it will work best for that. its high pressure enough to bomb though

Practice on your pieces using bars, 3d and its vanishing points, shadows are a must, also incorporate YOUR style.

Speaking for myself (cuz I'm sure it's not the same for us all) I think it's the subconscious thoughts about my life that ultimately causes me to get that urge to write on walls. I mean sure there's the adrenaline and risk that's a perk and then the possibility of maybe doin somethin great that might effect someone elses ideals about their own life. maybe gettin up and being an eye opener for someone in some inexplicable, abstract way but mainly when I write I think bout my life and about how what I'm doin is calming me down. It's an outlet so I don't go crazy. You focus directly on the art itself and forget everything else that's wrong but it's the wrong that drives you to do the art

They get respect because they have been in the game a long time and have put in the work.

I have to say that before getting throws down you should be learning solid simple keyboard letters you get more respect from writers for a solid simple than a poorly executed piece.

As for your question about extensions, without seeing your work, maybe your extensions don't flow and compliment the shapes of the letters, extensions need to look natural and flow with the piece and mold it together as an overall piece.

well like me n alts said, if ur already that experienced with bars u can take the bars in the letter and cut them up, know where to make extensions, strech them out... it takes experience though man... i bet those guys have emptied thousands of cans... ive emptied probably close to a thousand and im nowhere near that level... it takes years man ur not gonna get good over a 3 month or even a 3 year period unless u really spend that time sketching and goin out to chill spots and practicing

A lot of these writers who are big nowadays have been writing since the early 90s, they lterally have thousands of pieces under their belts and can compose their pieces without bars because their understanding of their own style and letters means they can just execute the letters plain on the wall freestyle. All of Revoks pieces are freestyles at the wall, not from sketches, as are most top writers.

Revoks pieces are generally very big and also he paints them quick as hell. For instance CanTwo always freestyles his pieces, you get to a stage where you can just execute that shit and you have put in so much work that you can basically do what you like. Look at writers like Jurne they are constantly pushing things, you have the transcend crew ouija/poesia etc who are completely abstracting things, Natrl as well, then you have crews like WST who write and pieces are solid foundation of letters and bar work.

There is so much variation it is hard to keep track sometimes

Check out revoks stuff form the early 90s you will see solid letter foundations, this is why when you seen pieces like the simple mean street killers that he and rime done the simple letters have so much style

Bars are the best way to begin composing and learnign your letter structure, it is all about that simple foundation and building on it

everytime i go to do a second outline around a throwup, i get maaad drips, nd last time this happened i was doin the outline with ironlak, is there a technique to doin the second outline so it doesnt drip as bad?

u can always cut back over ur last outline with whatever color u outline ur letters in... and us a german 3 or ny fatcap on germans for controllable lines

too much paint + too much pressure = drips
Ironlak has a variable pressure valve,so be careful while u spray so you don't get too much pressure. Choose the right cap to limit the thickness and diameter of paint applied and don't go too slow. Practice nice fluid and quick movements, making sure to follow through to avoid making the ends of your lines too thick.

keep it simple and quick, practise practise practise, get yourself a couple of notepads and just write, don't bother with just your tag write everything and anything because you can learn from other letters, I used to make the mistake of just practising my name when it is better to just write any old shit.

Yo man I feel you. Just PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE. Even if you think your doing shit cause lets face it....Everyone at one point was shitty unless you were born graff king or whatever. Just stick with it man. Cause once you get throught this you'll start noticiing your progession.

Progression is something that your going to have to realize take alot of time man.....A LOT OF time and patients and practice. Fill free to post some pics and get some crits in here. Sometimes hearing or in this case reading other ppls opinions can help you out a little.

I can rack marker's, paint markers etc with the cup trick but otherwise how would i rack paint? I would take the risk by tucking my shirt into my pants with a belt securing it and inserting it from there. but a little more less riskier way to rack paint?

I used to write a word that started with V, and it was hard as fuck to make it look good in a piece. Think of this: if you make the bottom too round or out, it's a U; if you make it too close together, it looks like a squished U; if you round out the sides, it's a heart. It is damn hard to make a V flow really nice.
