jw....i know this has probably been answered... but do you guys prime your canvas? i did a 10 layer stencil and the spraypaint started to have tiny holes on the surface.....

thats it cracking, cant really do much to prevent it.
you could try to put a finish on it.
its from all the layers of paint building up.

it can also be because of the different finishes used.... flat satin semi gloss and gloss..... they all breath different, so if you put a satin ontop of a gloss it crackles or cracks (how the original crackle finish was done)
but you can put gloss ontop of satin... you can go forward just not backwards..... this doesnt go for Montana, Belton, Monster... they&#39;re primarily gloss or semi gloss paints

many canvases come already primed. but if they aren&#39;t you probably should prime them....

you want crit? stick to acrylics, i think the style your dealing with just looks cheap and unskilled with the spray paint, youll get way better color and value with regular paint

if he likes the texture hes gettgin off say that second canvas he could invest in some cheap oils and use a knife, i dunno hw oto do that to well personally but my brother does it sometimes in his paintings and gets cool colors that look alot liek that second one

makes me think of canadian painter Lawren S. Harris from the "group of seven"

id go for the sky.. but not nessarly bubble clouds, just add some texture while keeping the atmospheric perspective.. you can use a humid rag to rub the paint if its not spray.. if so add paint and rub it off to your like.. or just paint them, but please not "bubble" clouds.. its too good to spoil

but its hard to do since you already did the foreground..
