i just used paint markers and faded the blue into the green and the green into the blue

Do them throughout the whole thing, like some Jordans. Although, I'd say do it all on one level, and work with the N. Maybe no overlapping too. And if you're redoing it, jack a Jordan colourway to use.

Yeah, the colourway of those Vs wouldn't be hard to do with your current painting. Here's the crack pattern on some IIIs though. True Blue scheme a year or two ago would get you some respect from Jordan heads, but with the recent re-release... (: I'd still recommend redoing the Z and G on the same level as the N.

Alts, can't say much other than your backgrounds/edges have some white spots. Washing with grey or brown first would help for multicolour BGs, or just wash with whatever the BG colour is on tonal BGs. That white/transparent fill on the A in the fifth picture is money.

Kaiser, your painting skill is on point. Letter structure itself isn't really up to par with the rest of the painting, do a few wordless canvasses next, that way they'll still be hangable/tradeable/salable in a few months when you're busting out steezier letters. Good work.

If you don't have the money for a canvas, go to Walmart, Target, Costco, BJs etc and go through their cardboard box bins inside the stores. Break the box down and cut off a panel; and there you go, perfectly good "canvas".

Decos are the best and easiest to come by. i really like when people paint there canvases before doing them.

Favorite tool for canvases would have to be a drip mop. Use that beforehand, let it dry, maybe run a couple of colors together. And there you go, already a nice background. Keep going for even cooler shit. Drip Mops are just amazing in general. haha.

if you want your paintings to have a more solid color base, paint the areas grey then the colors you want with layers, itll give it a better look

in general, see how your red looks a little blotchy, put some gray over it then paint it red and itll give it a solid tone.. its a nice piece but as for the hearts it could be more solid

oh that is supposed to be like that tho. its modeling paste, which hardens, cuz i kinda wanted the hearts to have a texture/relief. i wanted the hearts to have that kind of look but thx for the tip anyways ill try it out next time

loose the canvas board and get a real canvas. canvas boards are too rough for shit like graffiti to look good on. and also work on a piece for a little longer before you put it on a canvas. i see a lot of problems in this.

Here's some crits for you, Squint. It's my honest opinion, so you can take it however you want it.

1st Canvas: The way the man's head opens could (and IMO, should) be opened in a different way. If it's melting, then it should melt completely together, if you know what I mean? I like the expression on the lower half of his face though. and your shading's off. but you weren't diggin' that one, so I won't add salt to the wound. haha.
2nd: From a glance, the collage looks awesome. but when under scrutiny, there are a lot of problems.. The finger, for what you are going for, should be more rounded, cartoony. A few of the eyeballs look a little juvenile, too. Oh, and for your teeth, try drawing the gums first, because the teeth are structured by the gums, not vice versa. By drawing gums with your teeth, you'll set yourself up for better dental structure. My favorite parts of it though, are the expression of the face in the lower middle, and the robber face. it almost made me lul.
3rd: Space, a very commonly done spray-paint alternative thing. I never really got into it, but it looks really cool. So if you like it, go for it.
4th: Not diggin' the fish.. but I hate fish in general. haha. except Koi. I like how the rising sun came out, but the design of that fish kills the portrait.. the eyeball is hilarious in size. haha.

Overall, you did really well painting though. Good luck getting into an art school! I'm trying to put together shit for my portfolio too. I'm trying to get into the Art Institute in Hollywood. Have you checked out Fastweb.com or Scholarship.com to try and find scholarships? I need all the money I can get, so I thought I'd pass the info on to a fellow aspiring artist. ;]

crust basically touched everything i would have said. second the gums idea. gums are crucial when painting a detailed mouth. some of the characs in the second one do seem a little juvenile like the face with the ski mask or the the arab looking one in the bottom right corner. the part where the arm merges with the eyeball is throwing me off too. not liking the random arrow either. and overall i think theres too many thin lines in that canvas. this is just my personal opinion but when it comes to characs i believe less is more. the less lines you have to use to show detail the better i feel it comes out. little trick is to go back over certain areas of the line and double up with whatever marker you're using then let it thin its way out. its a pretty simple trick to learn and it adds a lot of depth to a 2 dimensional charac.

the space canvas is pretty sick but i feel theres too much overspray.

not really feeling the fish jsut because its too cartoony for my taste. i feel when making a darker sort of character like a carnivorous fish it shouldnt look like a cartoon...again just my opinion.

IM going into graphic design course witch requires me to have a porfolio of artwork. (Canvas, Digital art, and photography.) Since I only draw letters all day and dont really draw proper shit Ive just been pumping through Ideas that show variety in styles in my art, I don't know why a graphic design course needs me to do so much formal art but i have a interview to go to and they need to see a full proper sketch book and porfolio of my art. I've already gotten into the graphic design starters course that eventually leads to the course that im going to for the interview but I'm just stressing because I dont consider my art very good and idk if there gonna want to see proper art or just my style and process. Either way since I know no matter how the interview goes ill be getting into the course its just stressful not making art for your leisure and more or less to show off skill you dont really have...

weak i think the 2nd one is the strongest, even with the graffiti influence its probably still the most socially acceptable one that u did... the pastels i never like because u cant get a hard outline unless u mix in another medium and that always looks bad, my gf uses pastels and watercolor pencils, i tried it, i suck lol so props on the portfolio...

i wanted to post this somewhere to show that ironlak and mtn gold are even good for household items lol, so ill just do it here... this dresser was puke green and had chips and nicks all over it, i sanded it down cleaned it up and put 2 coats of brown lak on, and 2 coats of the other 3 colors in mtn with no primer and its been chip and flake free for months now...

um not really sure how to explain it differently. alright try making a pile of something like pebbles (pills if you got that many haha). look at how the pebbles at the bottom of the pile are closer to you than the ones at the top, so therefore when drawing them you would draw it so they overlap the ones above them a little bit...any better? now to make it a little more confusing.. it is a pile so the direction and location of the pebbles would be random meaning not all of the would follow this rule. some of the pebbles may overlap ones below them. it's really difficult to explain on a computer so your best bet would be to study piles of pills or whatever and try and recreate it on paper. sorry if this doesnt help at all.

The ekimo page isn't bad, you are on the right track. Start with this;
1. The spray cans are all different sizes, focus on making them the same size, or go way out there and stylize them.
2. the character is ok, but it looks a little 1 dimensional. The fold on the pants make it stand out, but the shoes and hoodie just look flat.
3. As for the Graff I like the colours and the outline. And its nice to see someone keeping the letters simple for once, but the K looks squished in there, maybe eliminate the top E extension and extend the top of the K instead?
