Behind a CVS. But it wasnt in a dumpster. It was in side one of those huge blue metal crate looking thing that lots of people tag on. and a store or house might rent them when they are doing yard work. i dont know what thier called.

Take a big paper clip. Fold one side so its all the way out and straight. Then take pliers and fold the tip of it to make a right angle.

^Should look something like that.

Never mind. I misread your post. I thought you wanted to know how to make a tension wrench.

Imagine Life

Imagine life as a game in which you are juggling some five balls in the air. You name them: Work, Family, Health, Friends, Spirit. And you re keeping all of these in the air. You will soon understand that work is a rubber ball. If you drop it, it will bounce back. But the other four balls-family, health, friends and spirit are made of glass. If you drop one of these, they will be irrevocably scuffed , marked, nicked , damaged or even shattered . They will never be the same. You must understand that and strive for balance in your life.

Feel like I might find something when I go out, just went for a scout today and found a half full bottle of odour killer and about a tenth a bottle of a 2l bottle of muc-off. I know it's weak but it was only a scout and that was just what they left out in the open, just gotta hope they got some paint now.

Somewhat new to the the forums and its my first post but anyway. Went out today but I didnt find anything. A few weeks back I went to a few construction sites and found about 10 half empty cans of black and white. Today though I did see something I wanted to grab. I drove behind the Walmart near me and there was blue, yellow, and red bucket paint, there was about 10 buckets each color. I didnt have time to check them out to see if they were full but Im going back tomorrow.

hard to find good stuff but it's free so. also when they lock it you can get wire cutters at home depo and you can cut through locks. the locked ones have the best they also recycle old cans that don't get bought but they keep it secret like in employee only areas and they get rid of them fast

those who think dumpster diving is gross just need to man up, it's just another form of racking. I dumpster dive on an almost daily basis, i tag dumpsters, and at one shitty point in my life i lived in one. there is so much good stuff in them, it's unbelievable. Here's an incomplete list of things i have found in dumpsters/trash: paint, spraypaint, markers, bingo markers, paint markers, pizza, bagels, bread, donuts, knives, multitools, bike tubes/treads/chains/gears, brand new/used dvds, books, tapes, soda, beer, pot, stickers, candy, a bong, fabric, clothes, shoes/boots, wood, pens/pencils... i could go on and on. fact of the matter is that it's not as gross as people think, that is a common misconception. Do you honestly believe people are throwing out human shit? What do you think is in there, besides just old/wet remnants of other things that specific store commonly throws out? I've been eating out of dumpsters nearly every day since i was about 13 and i'm 19 now, never gotten sick once. I encourage everyone to dumpster dive, but what everyone should understand, as it has been said here before, is that it is a HIT AND MISS game. You could score a bunch of stuff or nothing. it depends on where and when. Also don't expect to find like brand new paint or stuff like that, things have to have a REASON to be in the trash, be it damaged, expired or they got a newer shipment of that product. Also, sometimes you find things that people (pedestrians/customers/homeless folks) throw out in dumpsters like drugs, perfectly good already-purchased products that they were unable to return and too lazy to find a use for it, ditched stolen products (which would be brand new) and etc. There are a LOT of different things you can find, in mediocre to pristine condition. As far as getting caught, it IS considered to be the companies property until the trash company picks it up, so typically they ARE in the right when they tell you to leave. In fact i know some kids that got fined and did some time for dumpstering too much stuff from a bitchy cops-calling clerk. It was considered theft. As long as you know what you're doing, don't FUCKING EVER MAKE A MESS unless you want to be kicked out, possibly trespassed, and cause that dumpster to be locked up and blown up. Most clerks are down with it, being that it keeps it out of landfills and gives use to it. Also there ARE ways to get into a locked dumpster, don't ever use a bolt cutter, it blows it up. Hit me up if you need any more advice, i know those big-green-treasurechests pretty well. peace and happy diving.

highly doubt that....i love playing whos the better theif

i used to be the king of thieves, what i would do is go to bunnings warehouse back in the day when the paint wasnt behind a cage. and put about 3 tins down my pants they would hold in place but when i walked out i had to suck my gut in so it wasnt noticable, then go to another cheap discount store and go in and out a few times never buying anything they were too busy serving other customers they didnt notice. also ive stolen a monitor from someones house when they werent there, was gonna steal their VCR and DVD as well but i couldnt carry it all. also got a huge pair of bolt cutters. haha its fun when u get away with it.

Dude,a cage is just another obstacle, not a fucking prison cell for paint. break it or have them open it for you.

And stealing shit from other peeps is fuckt in my humble opinion. Honor Among Thieves lil Mr. self proclaimed King of Thieves. We dont know their living situation,we dont know what they had to do to get their shit. A business doesnt matter so much though. They can afford that shit, they EXPECT people to steal from them.

But back on subject. I think this threads dope, definitely wanted to try this, will once I have time to,post my findings then.and Itchy, more props to you. Some people will talk mad shit, but if they havent had to sleep on the streets they dont fully grasp the mindstate. Ive only had to a few times and am extremely grateful, but I think it was an overall healthy experience for me.

Just jumping in. I don't post here much, but this is my kind of thread. smokeitup, you sound like a fucking 13y/o little baby. The "king of thieves" doesn't rack 3 cans of paint at time. If you were true champ you'd push out carts. But that's not important. What's important is that you're a spoiled little brat that thinks re-use is a bad idea. Personally, I've been living on the streets for a good while. (Internet is from the library, fools) The trash can has been my best friend for a long time. Food, tools, toys, and you'd be surprised how useful cardboard is. Don't knock it, 'til you need it. You never know where you might end up.

But ok, from one street urchin to another, Phillip McDougall, dumpsters are a really shitty place to sleep. Not because of health issues (it's called a cardboard dumpster, folx), but because they get emptied. I've found that it's never a good idea to sleep in, behind, or near a dumpster unless it's abandoned or it's you last option. Nothing like waking up to being crushed!

Sorry for the long silly post. I'm a drinker!

nah!

i knew a local homeless guy who would find slightly expired food, and old shipments of water and juices in the dumpsters. another mans trash IS in fact another man's treasure.
i worked at an arts and crafts store called michael's and they would have me stomp out of season merchandise so people couldn't loot it. shit made me sick. as to diving, i haven't tried it yet, but my mind's definitely open.

i got about 12 full buckets of assorted buckets paints. All different colors out of 1 dumpster last time and all i had to do was reach in, not jump in there n shit. if you got some time to kill or know good stores to look behind its amazing what you can find.

never dumpster dived before..I know a few that might turn up the goods but it just doesn't appeal to me but I have seen the results of doing it so i don't knock it.

Office Depot has some jam up dumpsters, too. I've scored lamps, dvd's, cd's, memory cards, office chairs, a printer, and a wireless mouse. A lot of times they cut the cord on electronics, but the other half of the cord is always in the dumpster and not hard to find. Just splice it and wrap it. Good to go.

they might sound like hobos, but in the end of the day. they might have gotten some good FREE stuff, that they didnt have before. So i can see how it's economical, and usefull. but i dont do it...

Any tips for diving at a construction site?

Phillip McDougall
12-26-2011, 05:38 PM
Go when there isn't anyone there. You're probably not going to find much beside empty cans of floor marking paint, lumber crayons, and inexpensive tools. All the expensive tools get locked up or go in their cars when they leave. Stay out of the dumpster at a construction site, you're most likely going to find nothing but trash. Dumpster dive behind places that you would imagine would have very little trash besides plastic and cardboard, and that's where you'll actually find things worth diving for.

i definately need to try this. never done it before but i have a question about dumpster diving. if i go into a store but too much of a baby to rack so,if i pick some spray paint of the shelves and throw them in the trash during the day would it be out in the dumpster later that night?at like a walmart or lowes

Probably not THAT night.... Well maybe. Depends on the size of the store. Unless the heard the cans rattling around in the bag.. You should try it, and post how that works out for you

Dumster diving can pay off, but it depends on location and luck. Best things I've found: unused shirts ( packaged!) and unused cologne. Homie once found a gold ring ( in the fricking thrash). So yeah, have some luck.

2mor, Is dumpster diving stealing?? If hobos do it it's legal, but if writers do it it ain't?? I don't think that dumpster diving is illegal in any sence of the term... Iv found some pretty cool shit in the dumpster; never found any cans or anything but, I have found some electronics and stuff. As euro said, it's all about luck.

hell ya, i agree. dumspter diving isnt a guranteed way to get you good shit, cept maybe smelling nasty and an infection or two. rack everything. and if you cant rack it at least try, if you fail... THEN you can shell out cash to pay for it.

one time the krogers by my house blew a circuit or something and their freezers broke. so they had to throw out all their frozen foods. im a vegan and i got 600 bucks worth of vegan meat substitutes for free. still frozen and just sitting in a big ass dumpster with nothing but frozen, still in the box, food. happy day.

dumpster diving is illegal

Yes, but it shouldn't be.

The person threw out whatever it was into a dumpster as trash.
That's, like, "I no longer want this. Here. Have it."

The only difference being is it's in a dumpster.

I've rescued many terrific items from dumpsters, but never food. If I came across edible food I would have no problem taking it home though.

some people may think this is stupid, but when my local graf store stopped sell the illadel inks and bleedthrough stuff i found 4 bottles of it in the trash with at least 20 of the bleedthrough addatives. they werent even in the trash, just in a box on the curb, luckily i was the first one to grab them.
