it was invented by david belle, a french guy who&#39;s father was in the vietnam war and came up with the concept to get from a to b as quickly as possible on foot.

and obviously to escape enemy soldiers.

david belle introduced it to his friends and seeing as they all lived in an inner city ghetto area they practised it all the time for fun.

this is parkour, which is basically getting from a to b as fast as possible as if you were being chased, you probably wouldnt be doing wallflips in a chase.

freerunning is the mixture of parkour, martial arts and gymnastic moves because people wanted to take it to another level and do more flashy stuff, as parkour is quite contained and defined.
