i started wrighting aple for a bit, untill these smart ass fagots in my class started going on about how i couldnt spell, so i changed it to apel (pronounced ey-pel).

and strut (which is a tag me and some of my friends do)is well as i said before just a suttle reflection on what our mentalaty is. also my gf used to call me the struta for a bit. coz aparently i strut.

It's all good and nice to have a name with a little bit of significance, but it should be the second to LAST thing you're worried about when choosing a name. In the end, nobody knows or cares what your name is, they care about how it looks on a wall, and that's what should matter to you.

HOW TO SELECT A NAME (the millionth time I've posted this....)

#1- Stop worrying about what you want to write and start filling spirals up with alphabets and any random word you see. After you've filled up you 10th spiral, big fuckin deal... keep working the letters over, because what you think looks good after 3 days of practicing handyrock will look the turd in a week and flat out embarrassing in a month. Impatience to get up is the foundation of toys. Work on making something that looks fresh or you aren't doing yourself any good.

#2- Now you got a bit of a flow going.. Select the letters you do the best, and make a random ass word out of it. What it looks like is all that matters. If you write something you thinks sounds cool, but it looks dumb on a wall, you fail. If you write "Pinkporksword", but it looks fuckin sick, you'll get your love.

#3- Make sure nobody local already writes the dumb little word you just picked. There, you're done.

so ive been thinking and ive noticed that i dont have one particular style that i can call my own. im not sure if thats a good or a bad thing. i can pump out a bunch of different stuff, but i dont have that dedicated style. The style where no matter what word i write, people say "oh bets did that, thats his style" most people on here have their own personal style. atlok, rasek, baze just to name a few. I can look at their owrk and say "oh yeah he did that"

no graffiti is not hip hop, graffiti started in the early 70's, hiphop wasnt around until the late 70's early 80's, depending on where you divide the funk and the hip hop, when the graff movies like style wars came out, hip hop latched onto graffiti, and rode its coat tails, how many modern hip hop artists can pick up an empty marker, make ink, fill marker with said ink, and lay down a LEGIT handstyle.....very few, and that prolly has more to do with who they grew up around as opposed to hip hop influence, hell most of the writers from back in the day that you think are "hip hop" probably hate hip hop music...

There is no doubt in anyone's mind that subway cars were being painted regularly by the early 70's and besides, that was not the point, that was merely a way of expressing that painting was around before people started spinnin on their heads.

fact: graffiti as we know it today started sometime in the 60's, everyone here agrees it was a regular occance by 1970, therefore graffiti came approximately 10 years prior to the arrival of the other silly behavior classified as hip hop

fact: 90% of the people who are considered forefathers of graffiti had zero interest in that music, and the other felt that way about graff

i feel that hip hop artists used graff to maintain streetcred, but not all of them, those who did it for the love of the art are few enough that i think it just shows the wide population of people who love graff, and i think that graffiti really took off at the same time as hip hop music, and from the same place....
but as i said if you look there were far more writers who had no part of it, and graff was around before, i think it was media that perpetuated that idea, and since most people outside ny didnt know what graff was until style wars, and other things, telling people about it, they just took what they were told by movies and other peoples ideas, and thought that it was the culture, but evidence shows me that they really dont have connections outside movies and what not.
yea i do think that graff is its own subculture with people of every color, size, age, financial background, geographic locations, etc, etc. so i feel that graff is its own subculture, with many many pieces of other subcultures that various groups of participants have brought with them from their other interests
im really not tryin to school anyone i just dont see any connections really, and think that is an unfair label, when only a small portion of people were involved in more than one of the 4 "tenants of hip hop"

spanish: smaller company created by writers, for writers, paint is lower pressure, as far as i know, easier to use (slightly), the ORIGINAL montana, smells like love, etc.

Boy how Jon sucked, it was painful to watch him try straight lines, fading, or anything else attempted to do with a can, and since then i just dont pick up that book as much...

Word. The dude I've been painting with lately told me to stop using pencils. He said to just use pens because you can't erase and it'll prepare you better for walls. When we started painting he was just firing away and I pulled out my outline and stood there staring at it and the wall dimensions and he was grinning like "damn, you look like a fool".. haha. He can bust some ill shit with a pen too, but since I've been trying it, I'm sucking dirty ass. I need to spend more time painting and trying fills. My control's pretty raw and my color choices frequently feel flat. I'm going to paint tommorow with him and his partner. Hopefully I wont make a tool of myself.

Then this old school cat from Chitown (I'm not gonna drop his name, cuzz that's shitty, but he's ill) shows up thats touring around rocking murals and shit shows up out of nowhere and saw some of my shit and wanted to paint. I spend half the time picking his brain and learning what I can. He's a cool ass dude. i also play bass... i take that more serious than graff just to get that straight its what i do.....but i do take writing for real....
in my time playing bass i found its alot better to encourage beginners rather than discourage.... i never looked at being a beginner as a bad thing its just....being a beginner....and if everyone rips on you for not being that great makes you feel like shit then you want to stop it all together....which is pretty counter productive if u ask me

12oz sucks, plus there at least five indentifiable police officers there and one of them actually imed me a threat of arrest, and when i informed a mod, i got banned.... and an email that said something to the effect of, we think your full of shit, he has a high post count so he's not a cop and you cant lie about it.....

this fucker told me he was a vs detective in my area, and was going to bust me.... never happened......but i still believed this guy, and i refuse to go back to 12oz..... they support police arresting their members.

people who do graff cause they get bored, or have downtime are the type of people who will do shit that leads to heat, as someone who has been painting over a long period of time, the amount of heat brought around graff has doubled in the last 5 years, graffiti started as an underground thing, and is now very popular, if there is any hope of saving graffiti its time to back underground, out of sight....
that is why old heads tend to hate on toys, because you will definalty contribute in someway to critical mass.....

its idiotic that people think that art is determined by location
so the mona lisa on a canvas is artistic
