we went holland last year and i did ski-ing wasnt that bad actually its a lot more fun than it looks so dont not do it cos it looks gay lol. Im gonna be doin boarding this year but its supposidley a lot harder than skateboarding. I like skating in holland tho everywhere is flat lol. So i would prob pick boarding.

snowboarding is so easy, u can just ride up a rail, i know this because i have done it. skiing u have to jump up and do a 90 on and off of rails.
it is more of a challange, like bombing in a populaed area rather than the backside of and old abandoned junkyard.

anyways, i started chasing powder with ski's, but i dropped that about 5 or 6 years ago and bought a snowboard. my first one is now for my trampoline, because it has no metal edges anymore.
i have another so i can tow people around the streets after a heavy snowfall, definitly a good time

been skiing in BC since i was a wee little 3-year old. father was a ski instructor/patrol for a while, he taught me everything i know about skiing. which is a lot.

for the record skiing (compared to snowboarding) is:

faster
more versatile
MUCH harder to learn proper technique


if anybody wants to argue the above, you'd better really know what you're talking about. although anybody who really knows what they're talking about probably wouldnt disagree.


oh and i ski on some Rossignol bandit L's (i believe thats the narrowest shovel of the line...excellent in just about any condition but obviously not as geared towards heavy powder/heli-skiing like the wider ones) with demo bindings.

For instance, someone can be good at Algebra, and suck at Grammar, they can say that Algebra is easy, and Grammar is much more of a challenge. But then a librarian will come along and say that they have a easier time with Grammar, than with Algebra...so you see, it's simply a matter of the person.


But who cares. Snowboarding is still alot more fun than skiing. :)

no, actually they're facts. snowboarding makes you learn about shifting weight , but your feet are fixed. with skiing, you have to learn where to shift your weight, but also how to keep your feet together without crossing over your tips, as well as how to effectively plant your poles (anybody who thinks poles are useless has clearly never skied steep enough). there's just more to it, and that's a fact.

as for being more versatile, skis are DEFINITELY more versatile. ice, groomed snow, moguls, glade skiing, light powder, chest-high powder, wet snow, heavy snow, sticky snow. the only thing that boards are as good for is powder, the main difference being that skis wont break your legs if you fall wrong. as for tricks, every trick excluding some grinds can be done on skis with FAR more variation.

and yes, i tried snowboarding, and i found it far too slow/restricting. by the way, your math and algebra analogy does not work at ALL...theres 20 seconds of your life you'll never get back.

but i have also skied a whole bunch of the double-black lineup at whistler/blackcomb. if you've been there, you know how intense that is. >60 degree slopes.

its not so much that "some people catch on easier" as it is that snowboarding is fundamentally simpler. it took me what....over 10 years of skiing 2-3 weeks/yr on good bc shit to have a semi-solid parallel technique, with instruction. and at that point i was still better than90% of skiers my age. when snowboarding first became really popular, some people i knew became pretty good snowboarders within 2 yrs. i had the basics in a few days, although i wasnt actually good.

had my first day riding this year last sun at tremblant. i have to say in the 5 years i have been going to tremblant it was the best coniditions ive ever seen. they recieved 9" that weekend, and had tempatures where actually bareable. i bought myself a brand new snowboard for xmas (2005 acme lib tech 148cm), and im so freaking to try the board. now if i could only get my freaking bindings off of my old board, the damn screws are on to tight and just keep stripping when i try to get them out. any suggestions?

bad move, dont ignore sponsors! sponsors give you support and usually promote you making you get better sponors later on, better sponsors means cash and carz, cribs and bitches like you always dreamed of..

you ignore sponsors, you pay out your ass for new equipment and if your hard into boarding you tend to break a board at least once a season boards being 300 and up turns into a lot of dough that you could be makin from your sponsor and comps that you get referred into.. plus some sponsors pay for hill passes which is sickk..

depends if you go with friends or not, and if youre good, you usually dont get down a hill in 5 minutes because youll hit something sick then hike back up and do it again..
