those work better with water based paint like acrylic, or ink.

make sure its the right kind of paint thinner, or deglosser, or eater(its all the same)
get the liquid kind, i accidently bought a gel kind...it didnt say but it looked just like the others...when i shook the bottle i mix paints in it blew the cap off and paint went everywhere, it was chunky and looked like shit <_<

Is acrylic latex/latex/alkyd (?) paint any good for thinning and putting it in a mop ?

Havoc411
12-10-2004, 08:53 PM
straight arcylic paint might work in a mop(ive seen really watery jares of it but i for got where) idk if it would have any lasting power though.....

NightStalker
12-10-2004, 08:57 PM
but i once put acrylic metallic paint in a plastic thing and it melted , so the mop should suffer the same fate since i only have kiwi plastic mops

this might not be the right place for it but it was as close as i could get. How does cold weather affect paint cans? Like i keep my cans outside in a toolbox, like during the winter what can happen to the paint cans. Will the paint just thin out or will it get so mess up the pressure or cap or something.

the preasure inside the can will get lower...but it will go back to normal when brought back up to room temperature, thats all.

how to make acrylic paint well no but i and everyoneels on this bored can tell you how to thin it so you can put it in a marker 3/4 silver or alumanum anti rust paint 1/4 minral spirits might want to add a lil more then that but thats what works best in my mop

preach
01-26-2005, 04:20 PM
this isnt the best advice but when i was filling my first mop i realized i didnt have any thinner so i just added a bunch of water. i thought it to be very stupid at first, but it worked fine. probably not half as good as it wouldve been if i added paint thinner but hey.

dont bother adding anything to them, paint isn't very permanent no matter what. if your looking for staying power than dump it out before the paint even touches the nib and fill with nice permanent black or violet ink.

02-09-2005, 01:21 PM
acrylic or latex paint are thinned best with water, as they are water based. the thinners just don't mix in with those paints. oil based pait and thinners wix well though.

bumsuckfun
02-09-2005, 01:40 PM
haha yeah, people using rubbing alcohol to thin their acrylic paint isnt a good idea... like if your going to thin anything with alcohol you should use Denatured Alcohol (hardware stores) not Rubbing Alcohol, and even so, the only reason it mixes is because Rubbing Alcohol isn't usually pure alcohol, so there will be a bit of a mixing... but yeah, water works better.

and don't even bother using latex, it'll turn to rubbery goo and screw up your marker/mop.

Haha there was a renovation going on across the street I just went out at night and stole a small bucket of white paint, put it beside a tree on their property so I could get it later and hide it somewhere around my house(my parents were out there on the street),forgot about it somehow and a month later saw it and it was still there after the reno was done.
Yeah Im a faggot. A bundle of sticks.

So i got a metal tip marker from tracey packaging, and it's great. just like the krinks, but instead of being drippy, it's got thick ass paint in it. I'm looking to get a little more life out of the ink left inside and was wondering if anyone knows what to cut this paint with. it doesn't smell like oil based paint, i think it might be acrylic? anybody figure thisout before me?

I always thought 99.99 alcho thinned it

JayAyDubZed
06-01-2009, 03:22 AM
I used waterbased bucket paint once.
Use about 90% paint and 10% water.
You'd think it would work well but it stains like a bitch and no one has ever properly buffed what that marker has done.

Anue?

Hey is 70% rubbing alcohol enough for ...shit is it staining or for thinning?
Cuz I have a shitload of India Ink and found out that it hardly stains at all.

Lunchbox
06-16-2009, 11:37 PM
Alcho is for thinning, but 70% WILL NOT WORK, for ink stuff go to the ink thread.

i really dont recommend refilling paint markers but if you must, i would make some really thin paint like 50% rusto bucket and 50% thinner. or just use some ink that you bought or made.
