How to reduce the risk of getting caught:
Do not write your tags on your personal property, such as schoolbooks, bags, inside of your hat, back of your desk etc. If you want to practice your tag style on paper, make sure you throw the pieces of paper out when you finished. Keep your sketchbook hidden in a safe place. Keep your photos hidden in a safe place too. Doing so will make the evidence harder to find when your house is searched.
-Keep a low profile. Do not tell every writer you meet your real name & where you live, until you fully trust them. You do not want everyone to know who you are, what you write, and what your tag is. The risk of getting caught increases the more people you tell! When writers get caught, they are usually asked for information on other writers. It is possible that someone might 'spill the beans' about you accidentally or intentionally, when being questioned.
-Never tell anyone about your plans. This is one of the golden rules of not getting caught. Tip-offs are common.
-Do not write your tags close to your home or neighborhood. By doing so, you will keep your position / home-base secret. There was a writer once that bombed the trail that lead from his home to the railway station. Over time, the trail got bombed out so much that you could work out where he lived by following the tags!
-The number 1 Golden Rule of not being caught is "Make sure that you do not fit the Profile of a Writer". This simply means, when bombing, don't dress & look as a writer. Some of the best 'camouflage' you can get is geek clothing (e.g. shirts with a collar etc). Also, consider keeping your markers / spray cans in a plastic grocery bag. Keep your shoes, clothes and hands clean from spray paint. Keep your nails short too. This will prevent spray-paint from going under your nails, and becoming hard to clean. When questioned, the first thing you are asked it to show your hands.
-Check for cameras before you tag. Don't forget that some (infra-red) cameras can see in the dark.
-Want to stop your cans from rattling? Attach a magnet to the base of the can. The magnet will hold the ball bearing in place! (Round strong magnets, that fit perfectly to the base of the can).
-Wipe your fingerprints from empty cans and markers that you throw away.
-Never hit your favorite spots over again. Try to keep a random pattern of places that you hit.
-Always have an excuse or alibi ready.

those are some good ideas there. never even thought of puttin a magnet on the bottom of cans to get rid of the rattling.

I remember someone who tagged all over my old school and then wrote the same tag on the back of one of their papers and handed it in to the teacher.he got called to the office and was made to clean all the tags in the school.

allthough, I find it almost impossible not to get paint on my hands when Im bombing. it doesn&#39;t actually spray or drip on my hands but when i&#39;m sprayin with the can up close on a smooth surface it always seems to back-spray a little bit onto my finger nails of the hand that I&#39;m spraying with. doesn&#39;t actually get under my nails but I still find it hard as fuck to wash the speckles of paint off my finger nails.

1. wear gloves so no fingerprints and paint on hands
2. do it in the twilight hours if ur doing a piece, tags and throw ups are just hit and run anytime
2.5. get a mate to spot 4 u
3.cover ur face up: :ph34r: hats baraclavers hoods, then when ur done run away and take off to avoid lokkin suspisious
4. when running away avoid main roads
and 5. big parks are great to hide in and if all fails run round the corner and jump in someone&#39;s hedge sorted

I use his off brand of full sheet avery labels that you can get at office depot. They&#39;re like &#036;36.00 USD and you get 100 in the pack. Sorta expensive but the work with my inkjet printer so thats why I buy them. For just easy throws I get rolls of stickers through USPS. You can get tons of shit sent to your house for free. Most of the time they never give a fuck.

Have you tried looking at the Canadian Postal Service website?

You might actually have to spend some money&#33; Avery labels aren&#39;t that expensive. Especially if you get the smaller sizes. Avery labels work just fine outside as long as you waterproof them. Rubbing a white wax candle over them or spraying them in hairspray keeps them pretty water tight. I usually just do hairspray because it&#39;s retarded cheap.

well i understand how you feel man. i still cant believe you are in so much shit for stealing a sharpie but w/e. i honestly wish you best luck with your court case, and i am sure that if you put your mind to it you will be fine. as for bombing i would stop for a while. make sure anykind of evidence of previos graffiti activities are disposed of (eg. spary cans in ur room, sketches, posters, pics, other supplies, etc..) you dont want them to find what your tag is and stuff like that. so dispose of everything. after this heat dies down make up a new tag with a new style (if you want) an bomb more carefully. never carry ID on you&#33;&#33;&#33;&#33;&#33; because if you have already been caught and have an offence you dont want to be caught again under the same name.

Just yesterday I got caught. I was by my old school and I fucked that place up, and then there is this ditch with some tunnels, so I went in there and the tunnels were too small, so I just tagged and shit on the dumpsters that were in the alley. And then I was taggin&#39; on a "beware of dog" sign, and then I was almost done with it and I looked around once more and these two old fucks were walking towards me. I just jumped down put the marker in my pocket and started jogging away. They didn&#39;t do shit, they were just yelling shit at me, (couldn&#39;t even hear what they were saying by the way) and then I just took this side alley that went between houses to a main street, so I took that, ran across the street and went to the next alley on the right (because my house is closer to the right side.) And I just started walking, and I kept looking back, and I saw them walking right past the alley. So I lost them, and I started tagging the dumpsters and shit in that alley all the way &#39;till I got close to my neighborhood and then stopped, simple as that, just run.

It&#39;s usually old ass people that want to try and catch you, they&#39;re always against graffiti. Me and my friend were in michaels and we were gonna jack some paint, and the isle was clear and then we got one can and this old ass bitch walked in the isle and then shes like, "I hope you guys are 18 to buy that stuff." And she got all suspicious and went to the nearest phone by the isles, and then called someone, and we just booked it outta the store. So it&#39;s usually old people that want to stop you.

Here&#39;s another story. I was bombing in a ditch and then this guy about 16-19 went by on his bike and was all. "wassup?" He didn&#39;t do shit, so it&#39;s usually old people.

My tip, keep ur fucking hands clean, last weekend I was hitting shit around 12 at night, I was bombing my old schools, kinda payback, I hit my old middle school with about 7 bombs, then I walked to my old elementary school hit the school and this tool shed thats in plain view of the main road. I started walking back in the direction of the middle school and I had to walk around a lake, My cans of black and white were pretty much empty, so I threw them onto the snow/ice on the lake and kept walking. About 30 seconds after I threw my paint a cop car rolled up beside me, and two cops got out, I stopped and they walked towards me and asked me to show them my hands, so I showed my hands, had no paint on them, they had me empty my pockets and i had no paint or markers. They asked if I knew why they had stopped me and I told them I didn&#39;t know. They said that someone had saw somebody fitting my discription was vandalizeing the school. I said it wasn&#39;t me and they let me go. If I hadn&#39;t of kept my hands clean and threw the empty&#39;s 30 seconds before they rolled up I probably would of been fucked.

I would just like to share an idea that is working chars for me and my crew in st catharines. buy handheld police scanners from radioshack for 70 bucks and keep um on the car to car and dispatch radio frequencies. learn the codes in your area for graffiti etc and ull have a headstart when u needa run.

yea ive gotten caught twice, once by the cops and the other time was by boming the shit out of all the mirrors and stalls at my school(mop+grogg). and the shitty thing was about the school situation, i got suspendend for 5 days fines, and they didnt even walk in when i was doing it its was all video cameras. they checked before i went in and then check after i left and everything was fucked up. but i accept the chance of getting caught for tagging. and if u dont then put all ur markers and cans down.

magnets on the bottom only works on a few types of paint try emptying all the aerosol then cut it open with a can opener (takes a while doesnt turn just cuts where you clamp) if it has a metal ball use that kind of paint if it doesnt suck but remeber you still have to mix the paint so shake hard as hell or take off magnet.

anyways, if you wanna try the metal ball/magnet trick heres what you do

use the following (they have metal balls)
Most walmart colorplace cans
all montana (mtnmtn)
all belton
rustoleum and krylon metallic colors only. (chrome, gold, brass chrome, etc)
and some of the krylon cans that are really skinny (8oz, 6oz, etc. incl home decor krylon latex)

belton burner cans and 600ml chrome mtn cans do not have mixing balls at all.
those are great for heat spots.

dont look at people walking or driving by and dont look at cameras. that makes it look like you have something to hide, and looking dead on at cameras can get you caught even if they dont have film of you doing something wrong.

Also bring a rag, alcohol, and maybe some water (or spit)

On the bus have a friend sit next to you and put nail polish remover on the rag and wipe it... then try the alcohol... one or another should work I use fingernail polish remover for painty fingers. If they dont work dump alcohol and keep rubbing hard dont stop&#33; One time i thought i was busted I DIDNT GIVE UP and after a while it came off and I was relieved, also search for removing permenant morker for more detailed help or removing paint marker or whatever.

Some people always take all there shit but at the end the only used 1 marker or something.
Be sure you&#39;ve got a good condition. Take food whit you so if you&#39;re hungry you can eat.
Stay away from things that give light and that shit and when you&#39;re running away from cops i always jump in backyards from local people&#39;s here and run from garden to garden. than its not easy for cops to get you. i got arrested recently. i was doing an expressway at like 2 or 3 in the morning and someone called it in. anyways... the only reason that they caught me was because they had me on camera getting paint at 3 different places. i thought i would be fine if i only bought a can or two from each place.. but turns out that they put the puzzle peices together nicely. anyway... my 2 cents.
