it's a really sad story.I aint seen bomb the system but i doubt thats true.

basically Smith and Sane are brothers(smith the older one) they used to compete to see who could get more ups and who could get the most paint.Then they started workin together puttin each other up there's not many bombs done by one of the two that don't have thier brothers bomb next to it.
People began to believe that smith and sane were the same person and people began givin hype to "SMITHSANE" a writer who never existed.
eventually Smith painted the side of the brooklyn bridge and then people knew.
Sane was very troubled and kept his troubles locked up away from Smith or JA or anyone in XTC.

He was found dead in the early hours of the morning floating in Jamaica Bay,NYC. He had commited suicide jumping of the bridge smith had painted.
They also found with him a sketch that said "SMITH SANE JA FLYING HIGH THE XTC WAY!".

The sketch now hangs on JA's apartment wall.

THE DEATH SQUAD
TDS was one of the most significant and influential style crews graffiti has ever seen. Their work was mainly seen on the Broadway number 1 line and the 2 and 5 lines. The peak TDS years were late '70s to early '80s. Unfortunately most of the major books and publications overlooked the significance of TDS. The fact that TDS was neglected is quite ironic considering the fact that some of the biggest names in writing were affiliated with it. Hard core members being MR. JINX 174, PART 1, KOOL 131, CHAIN 3, NOC 167, PADRE, PESO, BEAR 167. Other writers to put it up were NIKE, KF 174, MOON 77, REPEL, DONDI, BAN2, FUZZ 1,EZO FLITE, A ONE, SKEME, SLAVE, CASE 2, TEAN 5, KADE 198, MAGOO, ZEPHYR, DAZE, DEZ, JOEY, TOXIC, SCORCH 170, DELTA 2, TORCH and COSE.

TDS was a crew concerned more with style rather than bombing. (Despite that fact they bombed anyway.) Their style contributions to the culture are significant and have been somewhat overlooked as is the case with many style masters. This is due to three factors. One, the natural abstractions of wild style make names illegible to the uneducated eye, therefore the media and general public can not determine the origin of the work. The second factor being style masters generally write many different names to demonstrate their ability to create a broad range of letter forms. It can be difficult for the writing community to keep up with all the names. The final being, style masters give outlines to other writers, many of which take credit for the style master's work.

THE FABULOUS 5IVE
The Fab 5ive was the most admired whole car crew in New York City. Fab 5 was unique in several ways. First, once the base membership was established they did not recruit. Secondly, many of the main members were from Staten Island which is disconnected from the subway system, yet they became legends. Third point being it was a crew focused almost exclusively on whole cars. They worked predominantly on the RRs, 2s and 5s. They pushed writing to the limit. They created detailed murals inspiring their peers and amazing the public. They frequently topped the transit police's most wanted list. The FAB 5 would join the short list of crews to do a whole train (10 cars). The Whole Train was done by DOC, LEE, MONO, SLAVE.
FAB 5ive members: DIRTY SLUG, MONO 105.2, DOC109, PROF 165, OG 2, BLUD, SONY, BOB, SLAVE, DEL, LEE. The most prolific members were DIRTY SLUG, MONO 105.2 DOC109, SLAVE and LEE

DIRTY SLUG was the original president. He was doing whole cars in early fab 5 history. In addition to 5s and 2s he also did many whole cars on the RRs.

DOC 109 from Staten Island did many whole cars with detailed scenery on the 5s and 2s during the mid '70s, then quit in 1977, but not before contributing to the whole train.

MONO also from Staten Island along with his brother BLUD and DOC 109 established a FAB 5 residence/club house on Stanton St. in lower Manhattan. This location made for easy access to The Bridge and The Bowery BMT lay ups. It also made them neighbors with LEE. Mono quit in early 1978 but did a single comeback piece with LEE and FAB 5 FREDDIE in 1979.

SLAVE from Brooklyn's Crown Heights was a newer FAB 5 member. SLAVE associated with writers from The Odd Partners and The Crew, such as HURST, HATE, MOVIN who bombed with throw ups. At one point SLAVE even did throw ups under the alias RO. But throw ups are hardly what slave became known for. SLAVE did many beautiful top to bottoms with the FAB 5. He continued to write when much of FAB 5 had quit. SLAVE was also well accomplished in wild style, keeping Brooklyn on the map. He wrote with people like GLI 167 and PART ONE TDS and produced many cars. He rejoined LEE for a comeback in 1979.

LEE, the youngster of the group would turn out to become the most famous member of the crew. LEE had been writing independently in the mid '70s and soon meet up with the FAB 5. They discovered that they shared a common objective: bomb with whole cars. LEE was known for his ability to illustrate and precise paint control (years before German thin caps). LEE would be instrumental in the realization of the "Whole Train Dream". He along with SLAVE would keep the FAB 5 name alive long after the others retired.

Aliases: IZZY, CI (CRAZY IZ), IKE 327, CLICK
Started: 1972 Primary affiliations: TMB, POG, TOP, 3YB, TC Local origin: Queens, NY
Main lines: ALL CITY

IZ THE WIZ is without question one of New York City's most prolific writers. IN aka KILL 3 is credited with the most extensive all-city bomb in NYC during 1975 and 76, but IZ was the longest reigning all-city king in NYC history, taking the title many times throughout the 1970s and 1980s.

IZ was well known for his throw-ups in the mid 1970s on the IND and BMT subway divisions. In the late 1970s he broadened his focus by working on top-to-bottoms, burners and scenery whole cars on the presteigious 2 and 5 lines of the IRT subway division. During this period he silmultaneously maintained all-city throw-up king status.

He painted for a variety of top level crews. He has served as president of The Master Blasters and the Queens division of Prisoners Of Graffiti. He has also painted for The Odd Partners, The Crew, The Three Yard Boys and others too numerous to mention. IZ appeared in the documentary film Style Wars and portrayed a transit police detective in the film Wild Style. His work has been displayed in museums and gallerys throughout the world. His most recent exhibition was at the Queens Museum of Art in June 2001.

THE HISTORY OF GRAFFITI:

ite well it all started in like 890 bc but we wont go that far back haha!

ok right well some bombmaker who used to put the shells on bombs wrote KILROY WUZ ERE on every bomb he made. A few pictures were found of bombed(no pun intended) towns in vietnam with the shell layin a few yards from the Town with the words "KILROY WUZ ERE" on it.
KILROY WOZ ERE became a catchphrase people wrote it everywhere it found it's name onto notebooks and shit everywhere.
then kids started writing thier names,then dropped the "wuz ere" and began writing what street they lived on(in america the streets are all numbers not like here). JULIO 204 managed to put his name everywhere then TAKI 183* made front page news when his name became the first "all city" tag.He worked as a messenger who used the train system so he wrote on the trains he rode in.

*TAKI is short for demetrius in Greek
