it's not that hard to trace an IP address, which is really all the cops need to track you down in real life. If you live in a big apartment building though, it can be a bit more tricky, since an IP address is only good for finding a location, not an aparment/dorm number. im pretty positive cops in big cities lurk on here ie. Vandal Squad. just for informative purposes such as what the kids are using these days, as far as actually tracking down what people write/ who they are etc. they have more important things to deal with. My family is filled with piggies including my mother and father and unless the department has a huge budget they're not gonna pay people to sit on their ass and shuffle through all this bullshit.

As far as what baze said, YouTube does not have access to ip information which would in theory show your approximate address, that information is kept by your Internet Service Provider. And when you sign up for YouTube accounts and with your ISP they promise to not give away your information. And even if by the grace of god they get your address they cannot prove who was on the computer at that time without a search warrant. Could've been the neighbors or somethin if they were jackin your wi-fi. All of this is WAYY to big a hassle, not to mention they have tons of other real crime shit to deal with.

portsmouth — a local graffiti artist’s online requests for feedback on his work ultimately landed him in hot water with police this month.

Thanks to those online postings, police arrested alan hall, 27, of 100 ledgewood drive for allegedly “tagging” numerous properties in the city.

Online postings of graffiti in the city with the tag “sins” led to hall’s arrest last month on seven counts of criminal mischief, including one felony for spray-painting buildings and road signs all over the city.

Hall was arraigned on the charges monday in portsmouth district court and ordered not to possess any paint products between now and his probable cause hearing.

Hall allegedly spray painted numerous properties in the city in april and may, including the pump house of the pool at portsmouth high school, the rear of the old regal cinema on lafayette road, the back door of the green monkey restaurant on pleasant street, the rear of the waterstone development, which houses the goodwill, shaw’s and other shops on lafayette road, at least two road signs and a traffic control box, police said.

Hall is free on $2,500 personal recognizance bail.

According to a police report, detective robert munson had seen the tag “sins” around town, as well as in manchester and along route 101. He also received information that the person who spray painted the pump house had posted photographs on the internet.

munson found images of the vandalized property on a graffiti site called “bombing science” and was able to track them to hall.

when arrested, hall admitted to the “sins” tag, munson said in his report.

Hall’s probable cause hearing is scheduled for aug. 5.

I like to think I'm pretty well versed in the Texas Penal Code, my dad made me read it ALL when I got sent to Alternative for graff......... Basically here in Tejas, any and all graff is a Class-A misdemeanor(but make become a felony if its a large amount or racist and such), but any graff on Churches, Government Buildings, and Schools are an INSTANT Felony.
