Yeah haha. I have been part of the scene for a while. I know what its like to be in a band with no cash (in one now) I know for a fact that I am better than a lot of the scene fags who call themselves photographers. There's really only one sought after photographer in our scene and he's really good. Walks around with his d700 and shit haha. But he charges tons. I guess I'll just have to make myself known like crazy haha. I've been netowrking my bands and not myself haha. Thanks man.

just says satter on them. one is wide angle and one is telephoto. no focus rings or anything haha. just glass in casing. say its for af35ml. looked it up and its a canon point and shoot. that cant be right. i think i fucked up big time lol

I really don't want to perpetuate the canonikon thing, but it definetly meters just fine. set to AV mode it autoexposes just like it's an ef lens.

Anyone got any darkroom equipment they want to sell me? I need a 4 liter glass jug and some graduated cylinders, actually I only need the jug, I switched to powdered developer (instead of that premade sprint standard bullshit) and I don't have anything to mix and store it in, it's the only thing holding me back from developing all these rolls :(.

I'm to the point now where I'm about to go buy one of those jugs of cheap wine and pour the shit out for the jug.

Put a D40 on A and it should meter, E series 50's work fine with my D300, D700 and D3s. D40 will just need a setting changed or something surely.

Heres the pin hole camera i made 2 years ago.
this is everything you will need to know so far.

you will need a front and back cover to make sure there are NO light leaks.

The front should have a cover as well to make sure no light get threw as well as a front flap to cover the actual pin hole. make sure ur pin hole is PERFECTLY CENTERED or the picture will not line up right and it wont expose the paper on the subject you want it to. The hole is the most important part so make sure you get it CENTERED, small as you can, and clean as you can.
with the front cover you can take off the cover and not expose the paper that will be in the back yet and tape down the flap to control the amount of time you want it exposed with out shaking the box.

On the back cover you want there to be some pieces of tape to hole the photo paper that will be cut of the size of the camera so you can stick it to the back with out it moving. make sure you put the photo paper on in a pitch black room or a room with a safe light because any light with expose the paper. once the paper is stuck to the back you can take it and shoot anything you want.

Things you will need to develop the photo.
-B&W photo paper
-developer
-stop bath
-fixer
- and some sort of trays to hold the 3 chemicals in plus 2 more trays for 2 washes.
-5 trays total. (6 if you do 2 washes at the end)

once you get all that let me know and ill tell you how to develop it.

BRO, keep your D40. You do not need another camera. A d700 is very expensive, and fullframe lenses are even more expensive! You don't even know how to use your camera, let alone buying a professional camera.

Ak-like I said, I am thinking down the road. I know a d700 is expensive. So if I start saving now, by the time I have the money for one, I should be deserving/ready for one. I think I have a pretty good grasp on my camera but I also know I have tons to learn. And I think it would benefit me to know what camera I want in the future to help me pick out lenses and stuff. I didn't say any time soon. I'm thinking like a year or two unless for some unknown reason I need one. Which won't.

it would be nice to have one. ill sell you my old digital light meter for $50. the only problem is that it reads just about 2 stops off.so if you have 400 iso film you would set ur camera at 200 and same hoes for the f stop. but its a great meter to start with. i bought it a long time ago for $200. i can send you pictures if ur interested.

I found my old cheap $20 dollar fisheye attachment, took it apart and started playing around with the order of the glass and flipping elements, and I got it so all the distortion on the edges is gone its way wider than before, im psyched.

Heres the pin hole camera i made 2 years ago.
this is everything you will need to know so far.

you will need a front and back cover to make sure there are NO light leaks.

The front should have a cover as well to make sure no light get threw as well as a front flap to cover the actual pin hole. make sure ur pin hole is PERFECTLY CENTERED or the picture will not line up right and it wont expose the paper on the subject you want it to. The hole is the most important part so make sure you get it CENTERED, small as you can, and clean as you can.
with the front cover you can take off the cover and not expose the paper that will be in the back yet and tape down the flap to control the amount of time you want it exposed with out shaking the box.

On the back cover you want there to be some pieces of tape to hole the photo paper that will be cut of the size of the camera so you can stick it to the back with out it moving. make sure you put the photo paper on in a pitch black room or a room with a safe light because any light with expose the paper. once the paper is stuck to the back you can take it and shoot anything you want.

Things you will need to develop the photo.
-B&W photo paper
-developer
-stop bath
-fixer
- and some sort of trays to hold the 3 chemicals in plus 2 more trays for 2 washes.
-5 trays total. (6 if you do 2 washes at the end)

once you get all that let me know and ill tell you how to develop it.

I print all of these myself by hand, so im not just going to some photography shop and getting them made by someone else. All of these shots and prints are my own personal work with different films I have been experimenting with over the past year.

Not too sure about paper, cause I haven't done it in years, but I don't use a stop bath for film, just rinse with water and pour in the fixer

No you defiantly need a stop bath. A stop bath will stop the developer from continuing to develop the photo after you pull it out developer. If you dont use a stop bath then the picture will always come out darker then you want it to because the developing chemical was never stopped and its sitting on the paper.
The developer pulls the emulsion off the paper so the image can develop and the fixer reapplies the emulsion.

Those chemicals are good and that paper is the same that i use except i use a pearl finish not a glossy. but thats all personal prefrence.

My only advice is, if you don't want to regret it, don't bother with a Bessa and buy an M3. The lack of lightmeter is a blessing in disguise, since spot meters are so hard to use anyway. An M3 will last you three lifetimes, a Bessa will jam in a month potentially.

Exactly, their options were pay a local photographer 200$ an hour for a days work, or fly me over from NZ and I do it for free, except I get 1 days work and a week holiday to chill with tons of homies that live there. I got no damn qualms, melbourne is one hell of a dope city.

Point and shoots are just fine, especially if you have some sort of manual control over it. I actually miss mine, I think it had a sharper lens then the efs 17-55 kit lens. It's also nice hot having to carry a dslr kit around with you everywhere. Pic related. It's from a point and shoot.

edit: I can't fucking wait till summer so I can try to take some lightning pics on medium format.

I reckon a photo should speak volumes enough in the image, no matter where its presented or what on. I dig the whole printing images on paper and canvases and framing them and selling them and all that, but i think sometimes people get on some elitist tip just cos they shoot film or use a particular format or whatever when their images are simply mediocre. Thats just me. Nice on a canvas and all that, but if the image don't cut it for me personally, even though it's real nicely presented, then i aint into it.

not hating but you know. criticism and that. and not directed at anyone.

Im guessing you have an enlarger to use to do all of this?

here are the steps.
Once you have ur exposed paper that was in the back of ur pin hole you take it out either in the dark or with a safe light.
1. its going to be submerged in the developer tank for 2 full min. make sure you move the developer around the photo when its in there so dont just let it sit still in the tray.
2. put it in the stop bath for about 10 seconds and this will stop the developer.
3. Put it in the fixer for 5-6 min and this will reapply the emulsion to the paper and after this step the paper is no longer light sensitive
4. Wash ur paper in cool water for about 5-10 min. If you can get the water in the mid to lower 70s that would be ideal but never wash ur prints in hot water. If you can put a tube in the tray of wash connecting from the spicket to the tray to keep water constantly flowing threw to clean ur print better.
5. if possible do a second wash for another 5 min. If not just wash ur print over all for 10-15 min.

Thats about it for now. once you have done all that you should end up with a paper negative.

Thanks to everyone who likes the liquid emulsion canvas. I know its a straight edge photo but that one was for me and it was the first time i have ever done it. Im gonna be doing a bunch more. I can do it on basically anything but canvas seemed to be a good start.
