pls tell me youre joking, because the fact is the vernissage was at a graffiti store not an art gallery. yet he(and other artists) still choose to over price their work at graffiti community events (such as vernissage at subV).
i can understand if an artist choices to raise the price outside of a graffiti community event, but it upsets me that we as graffiti supports have to pay the same price as a doctor or a lawyer (these are usual people who can afford to purchase art and have the space to display it).
i understand that alot sentimental value or amount of personal time is put in their (monke, timer, etc) art but i believe if the artist cant afford their own work then maybe its overpriced.
dont get me wrong, i love talented work like monke's but why do we (graffiti artists), whom support the culture that society despises, have to pay the same price for their art.

Whoa

monke works usually run from 900-3000

example
http://www.ace-of-art.com/pic/monke/monke009g.jpg
$960

http://www.ace-of-art.com/pic/monke/monke010g.jpg
$960

http://www.ace-of-art.com/pic/monke/monke011g.jpg
$960

http://www.ace-of-art.com/pic/monke/monke008g.jpg
$960

http://www.ace-of-art.com/pic/monke/monke006g.jpg
$2160

http://www.ace-of-art.com/pic/monke/monke007g.jpg
$3360 for all 4

no once again im not saying the arent worth what they are quoted, i just dont see why we and graff haters should pay the same price just because all of a sudden its considered art

Those are some steep price points.
Must be the gallery jacking up the prices because there's no way I or any right minded individual would pay $250 for this Facet art...
http://www.ace-of-art.com/pic/facet/facet002g.jpg

I find it amusing that most writers choose to sell art at high prices trying to fetch a 'different clientele'(ie lawyers, etc) considering that this new wave of clients doesn't really understand the urban arts. These writers are obviously trying to make a living from selling art work which I give kudos for but the price points are detering the clients that actually made them popular enough to even break into the market.
The question is how many lawyers, doctors are willing to pay $1000 for a graf canvas when they probably could pick up a Justin Bua or even a Greg Simkins original for around the same price if they were in the market for urban arts.

If you read our project you would understand that for once we are not jacking up prices. We make the site for the artists and the money generated from the sales go to the artists.(Project (http://www.ace-of-art.com/project.html) Also, I can see your point when we see a piece on a canvas. That aspect or art is directly linked to graffiti and is not accessible for anyone. True. But artwork like monk.e or Timer is well beyond graffiti on walls. It is art easily accessible to mainstream art fanatics. It's not because an artist is active in the graff scene that he cannot be recognized as an artists by people that don't even know what graffiti is, even if their work is still inspired by their active or prior graffiti experiences. Just wanted to put the facts straight, at least in my opinion. But art is not easily discussed as tastes and opinions vary from person to person.

I give kudos to your company and I read your project and have a better understanding of what your company is doing and feel that my comment might have been a little biased towards some galleries that I've encountered.
