took me about a year and half, but your style changes as you get older. you just find something temporaroly and then it developes later on

lmao!^^
took me about a year
till your style got better.
after lots and lots of painting and bombing,
you get home without that pressure of getting caught and go all out, draw some crazy shit.
i'd say probably like a year, a yea and a half.
once people start biting your personal sort of style.
thats kinda when you know your better.
people are crying to get me to approve some threads. so im picking the least whack ones. this just made the cut. u guys speak about shit like u know whats going on in this forum and u dont. so, like i said before, if u dont like the thread then
GET THE FUCK OUT AND DONT POST IN IT.
its that easy. i dont feel like hearing about your opnion on this issue, nor does your opnion matter at all.

i'd say about a year and a half to 2yrs you obtain your "own" style...........and about 2 and half to 3yrs you should have it highly developed or possibly mastered
but it all comes down to how much you practice.........if you never practice or don't practice enough, then it will take much longer..........also, getting outside and painting/getting ups, will help you develop style faster, coz if you just stay inside and sketch then it'll take longer imo

Your style should be getting better if you really want it. I've been at it about 2 years, and I've gone through a few completely different styles. Shouldn't have just one signature style, that gets boring.

What the fuck
It's not like you suddenly stop getting better, you keep improving as long as you keep practicing
RetroLikeWhoa13
04-20-2008, 05:16 PM
you progress in style like you progress through maturity you dont stop at a certain point, its like you gain wisdom as you go along, and the more you keep going the wiser you get, and decency comes with just how hard you work at it. you will get better as you practice and with dedication. perfection comes with practice.

everytime you do a throw-up, It comes out a bit different from the last intentional or not.
Eventually, after 100 throw-ups drawn on paper, It will probably look different then when you first started and you should probably be able to do it alot faster.

As all others say, your style is never accomplished, but the more you train, the better it gets. I was without style for 4 active months, but then i had a new, SHITTY one for like .. Like 3 months, and then I got busted. Took a break for about 2 months(almost to scared to THINK of graffiti). Then I started developing a new style, with which I am happy. But it has quite some things to be improved - that comes with time. It is around 1 year and a half since I started graff, and by the time of now I feel like I have some talents.

I started writing in the end of 8th grade, i'm now going into 12th so thats what, 4 years? if that. I dont do a whole lot of painting, which I think isn't helping me very much, and I still don't consider myself very good at all. I have an alright tag, good enough to paint publicly, but anything besides that its pretty shoddy, Atlok don't feel like your the only one who improves at that kind of pace.
cans905
08-07-2008, 10:12 AM
you will progress depending on how much u put into it
like i know this kid who has been writing for as long as me and he only sketches 5 min before we go painting
me, on the other hand, spend at least an hour or two sketching a day
the first pic is from when i started 3 months ago and the second is something from last night

o, i also forgot...
dont use any graffiti creator or wutever
cuz pple will be able to tell when they look at it and u also arent doing anything to develop ur own style
years from now u wont be able to paint anything else or improvise because u never took the time to learn about letture structure and how to create flow for urself
srry about rambling lol

It ALWAYS varies between people. Lots of people do it for ages but then get bored because they can't see their style develop before their eyes. The people who get really good are the people who STICK AT IT.

ive been writing for about 2 years
and ive progressed ALOT within the past year
like, the first year i was writing i completly sucked
i still got some sketches of my first year of graff
and i compare them to now, and ive really come a long way
but it varies for every person, like my friend has been writing for 2 years
and he still sucks hardcore. but be a while before you progress
so just take your time, theres no rush to be the best. have fun, be patient your time will come soon.
I've been writing off and on for a few years. I'm still way toy but I've progressed. I still have my first sketch and i look at it from time to time just to remind my self that I am moving forward. Even if it doesn't seem like it some times.
Seems to me like every time i change names I take a huge step forward. I've started to sketch random words and names just because it seems like i learn more about basic style and structure by doing that then just working on the same name over and over again.

yes you are right... i have been working on my style for almost 8 years leasurly*.. and just in the last coupple months ive been getting better.. i just in the last few mins while smoking a bowl came up with something neat.. kinda bitten from alot of ppl but cool in it self.. i dont think i will be using it though.. and when i first started this website was where i came to chat it up n shit.. was kinda rough alot of drama.. ( *R.I.P. Zewler* ) and it was kinda rough.. alot of the better artists on here hassle you and try n make you leave so alot of people do. i left for a bit.. n came back.. i might leave again.. but i will always come to this site...

If you get bored with youre style, change it definitly.
I've benn writting for 6 months and ive seen a definite evolution, if you put a little effort everyday (sketching for at least 30 minutes) your gonna get something out of it.

Well, I've been writing 3 years on and off. Tags is good, throwies is good. But piecing is just very hard indeed.Get the sketch and colours fine but sometimes scale does my head in.
Fuckit. I only Like bombing anyways. Piecing is fun, But i prefer to destroy.
Queezy
04-02-2009, 01:02 AM
I'm more into bombing too, but mainly because I can't drop a dope ass piece in a good amount of time, and I can do a pretty decent throwie. But once I start sketching some real dope shit, and being able to piece it in a reasonable amount of time I can def see why motherfuckers love to piece. And if you have the drive you will sketch and progress. You truthfully don't even need this website(it might even slow people down cause of all the bullshit) you just gotta be commited.
i have about 5 different styles, most people think thats a good thing but its not.
i get frustrated trying to pick one. i think that consistency is a priority or else people will think bunch of people are biting u which is mad lame. i guess ive been biting myself, thats kinda weird
