Need to slow down and take more time on the fill. But speed up with the outlines so you don't get drips.

Looks like 3D at the bottom but drop shadow at the top of the letters. Fix that.

The only good letter you got is the A, and its decent at best. Just go even simpler and try it. Or a different name that doesn't have letters where parts of the letter overlap (your k and P have a line inside of the letter).

But he's trying to get you to focus on having a solid foundation of each individual letter. Then you can overlap. Because some of the proportions are a little off, like the letters are kinda' tweaked because you never actually draw the whole letter. So it looks funky. Like they're pushing over onto the next letter and squishing it, instead of just overlapping.

By the way, by symmetrical, I mean don't have the top of the K be closed, and the bottom open. The K on your keyboard is symmetrical right in the middle (horizontally) so try to make them both either open or closed, but with different traits (extension on the bottom like you have).
