the top one took longer b/c i was trying to get creative with letters i dont mess with too much, also trying to have a long bar on bottom (the swoosh) to actually connect me letters (step im trying to add to all my sketches, struggling to get it down but its just a matter of time and effort) so about 45 mins pencil then coloring was easy, did a basic 3d . .first time using the 3d point perspective, it works, iused to just eye it out . .

bottom one i did this morning on autopilot after i bumped stonks, quick b/c i just did simple letters then went back and added lil shoot off addons so half hour . . .

when i really try to bend and tweak letters that arent REKS it takes awhile of trial and error to get it right . .ive done 3 practice skecthes gettin comfortable with OBEY already and countless pencil sketch Os . . for every inked sketch i post here i do about zillion practice pencil skecthes . . . im addicted to letters man, if i ever go to jail all i need is paper and a sharp pencil to stab fools in the eye

but what sucks is when you finnaly get a dope letter youve been workin on and try to redo on a new page so you can add the others letters but then you cant redo it ....i had a phat ass O but when i tried to redo it on the top sketch it didnt come out nearly the same, it had teh same features/addons but its hard to replicate exact strokes . . but i got pages of nice Os i can always look at later . .

yeah i would have guessed you do alot of pencil fuckarounds b/c it shows in your inked posts . . nemz your def an up in comer, the more you put into it the more you get out of it and the more you get out of graf the more you put into it . . its a vicious cycle and i think your caught up init . . kiss clean findernails and good grades goodbye

well, i dont believe i have findernails, but about grades.
i don't seem to have the same problem, i did this thing to make up for my philosphy work, ill post it up in a minute.
i chose two dialouges that plato wrote took two arguements out if each then took a quote out of each arguement and then did a simple piece of a word from the quote, and then weaved the quote around it, the weaving didnt go that great but i still got to draw something to get credit for school.

fresh shit as always sky, i cant really give advice to you, the only thing i can see, as an otusider that knows nothing about your style, is that you should either, unclutter it JUST a bit, or hide the way its cluttered, if that even makes sense, like, some of your extensions are amazing, and just flow with the piece so well, but theres so many of them that sometimes its overhwleming, just for me, whatever, i dont know, i love your shit the way it is but i remember you posting a while back somehwere else that you never get any legit help, so im tryin my best haha

letters are mostly ill. the S needs a little work, its mad curvy on the side and then u just cut off the bottom. same goes for the top left side. and the last turn of the bottom of the S here it goes back down would look look better if it wasnt there. and the A could move a bit more the the right, and the cross of it could be bigger. other then that, on the whole your piece seems flat bottomed, let your letters relax, and reach out to where the want to go, dont constrain them so much, and itl look more dynamic.

i personally don&#39;t like your letters because the structure is poor, not to say you havent gotten better, you have. you just have a good ways to go until you can start using add ons. you really just need to sketch letters with no color for a long time, thats still all i do, unless its for a battle or something i really really like and feel like its really improved. and as far as old school, if you think your style is old school, well your kind of right, old school in the sense of, it looks like old school writers stuff when they had been writing as long as you. but not the good very stylish old school. i think EVERYONE has at least some appreciation for that, its the roots.

in that picture i see colors, characters, bits, extensions addons. all things i most certainly never suggested to you.

jus take a look at some simple stuff and try and replicate the elements of their styles in your work, dont be afraid to be generic and obviously dont bite, it aint going to happen overnight. have a look at cantwo or some shit like that, i kno ur a big fan of him and look at how he rocks the simples with a touch of wild, not old school not rele new school but sorta right in the middle.

ras- yeh i duno man u did get good feedback but like there are a few peeps on here that will instantly be like &#39;i fucking love that&#39; or &#39;that is fucn sik&#39; wen it aint jus to get their crit out the way.
as for the simples, nah man u got mad flicks and shit on the ends of your letters dont be afraid just to round them off instead of feeling u got to have these strange end cps that flow back up the same way as the stem of the letter. a good thing i like to do is draw two lines bout 10cm apart then split that into boxes of the same size depending on how many letters u got and fill them boxes with the letters just to practice proportions and getting nice letters down.

ras, u see, those are more of what you should be doing, but still, dont use color, and stop filling up ur letters with those lines n rectangles, those serve a purpose occasionally, but not one u will need for a long time. dont even do 3d. focus only on the letters. it will help. i swear.

it seems like, you look at other people, who are working on pulling there pieces together, and try to do that.. dont, just do pencil sketchs, no 3d or anything, and just do letters, dont connect them in any ways and use BARS it will help when you try and go onto more complex stuff.

Ras - have you seen something that bouncin soul has colored for a long ass time if ever??? No...he just does pen/pencil sketches like mad...he is progressing more than almost anyone on this site from where he was just by sketching his ass off...just pen/pencil sketches from you will really show where your letters are lacking...your letters aren&#39;t all that great even just in your simples...you just make it look nice with sick, clean coloring and nice characters...stop adding colors and 3-d and characs for a while and you will find yourself progressing a lot more...

and that is to not add 3-c addons or anything. i know what your saying about getting better at 3d and fill affects while your doing letters, but getting sick fills and 3d takes a matter of weeks, getting a simples down is a matter of months and then getting an actualy style of your own, well thats years away.
and you dont HAVE to listen to anyone, but you only listen t people who say to go forward with adding stuff when you really shouldnt, just give your self a month or two only do simles with out color or karaks, and youll get so much better,. plus, will it really kill you to take our advice for a month or two? because if your way, that nobody good on here has ever had work, doesnt work, then youll have wasted a lot more then two months, and i GAURENTEE(spc) you you will get better and it will NOT be a waste.

Ras - Theres still parts of your letters that aren&#39;t proportianate/don&#39;t look right. If you think you&#39;ve got your simples down, do a simple piece and rock it for all of us to see :P Still, i think your work is insanely clean. I wish i could hold a pencil as steady as you can. Shifted - I remember your simpler stuff, and that was the stuff i really liked. This new stuff you just posted looks super toy. No offense, but it does. The only letter that looks remotely decent is the O, and even that isn&#39;t very good. Hope this helps.

i just wana point out something. sume has been doing these very similar pieces loads, every 1 is bangin... now within the next 2 months say, somethin is just gonna click in place for him, and hes gonna have even nicer work. its the fact that hes rockin nice simple shit, tryin lil addons AND it looks nice. he isnt desperately tryin to get ahead of hiself, thus stopping his evolution of styles. hes happy with what hes doing and the changes will come to him soon.

ras this is aimed at u mainly bud, u gotta get nice simples down, and iv never seen a simple from u. u always add lil bits, and lil connections n they look shit to be fair. but what im trying to say is dont TRY to make something you cant. they will come to u with time.

mith-ur letters are not horrible and they are not too complicated by any means, to tell you the truth I think your stuff is already really simple and I have no idea why i don&#39;t really like them. It frustrates me so much because I can&#39;t put my finger on why I don&#39;t like ur letters, I been lookin at them for a while and still can&#39;t really figures out what is wrong. I kinda like the first one jus level out the "M", and take the little extensions off the bottom of the letters, idk man all I can tell you is keep practicin.

wen people give you some advice they are trying to help you. Its your own choice of you accept that advice or not. You can do with that advice whatever you want.
So if somebody say you should make aextensions and you think yes maybe that is nice you should make extensions. But if somebody say go back to simples and you think shut up why go back to simples you dont have to go back to simples. Nobody hates you or love you when you listen to them or don&#39;t listen to them. So don&#39;t take all the advices to serious and listen to them you think they can help you.

,maybe using the word simple was a bad idea. more what we mean, is start using blocks, anyone whos good on here, ask them for a sketch with nothing erased, youll see where the BARS meet each other. you CANNOT progress withut learning to use bars, over time you use them less, because your able to estimate it a litle bit better, but for now and a long time you HAVE to, yes HAVE TO, learn to use blocks. thats nice that sky is making you a tutorial, i think its self explanitory but if you need help, no problem in that. and feel free to pm with questions or even if you disagree with what im telling you aka beef.

ach fuck it, ime done critting ya until u post new shit. but uv got the wrong attitude i think. you aint once done a piece where there are NO modifications to the letters. you need to do straight up, even,block letters, pushed together into a piece with some 3d and no colour and work from there. you always do moderately shit simple things with bumps on every corner. it only works in certin places. so if u do that it will help u more than bitching bout hwat ppl have told u to do and not to do.

naww i haven&#39;t really been able to paint, the thing my parents know I write, and there is no other writers where I live, and I got no means of transportation, I&#39;m only 15 so no car yet, theres alot of places I could hit up, but if graffiti starts showin up in my town my parents will know its me and they would take all my shit, markers, pencils, erasers, pens etc. I prolly couldn;t even sketch and they will prolly turn me in to the cops r sumthin to "teach me a lesson", so no painting yet <_< :(

Haha.. Yeah. My parents turned me in in 92&#39;.. :lol: 350 hours of community service + courts fees, fines, and lwayer expenses they paid. I just recently told them I&#39;m back at it, but I showed them my work in person and why I do what I do, and they&#39;re okay with it now cuzz it has a purpose to it... Plus I&#39;m almost 30 so they couldn&#39;t do shit about it if they wanted to. :lol:

ok great&#33; now, make all yours bars the same width. keep ur letters evenly spaced. see how the I is right up on the M and then theres that big gap on either side of the T? dont bend your bars let either like in the H n M etc. thats next and ur close, but i would strongly suggest u get down the even bars and spacing first. n ur T is weighted unevenly, shorten the top on the elft.

RAS - u should do all ur skettches like that, with minimal bis that stick out (like that 1) ink them, colour them and do that LOADS. dont try and progress, progression will come to u. thats the truth. worked for me anyway

Your first character looks more like "O" than "A."
Also you do realize that the last character in those first drawings it "re" not "ne" you need the loop.

Use the little line between the H also for the top and bottem of your I. Also dont make the top of the T 45degrees down. Just make it a bit more straight.
