Alright, a couple people here rag on me for my colouring, so im hostin a little competition to see what you cats can do.

My new name is WHAM

i did a simple sketch, many of you will probably look at it and say "damn thats ugly", but i start simple and build off of it when i colour and fill things in and do my 3D

SO, print this off and trace it, or do it on paint, or do it any way you can

the "R" is pretty haggard and you should make sure the 3d is at least all the way filled in solid ya dig. other than that, its alot better than some of your old stuff. just my 2 cents.

look at it, look at all the white spots where your green 3D isnt coloured enough, look at the shaky lines and half assed blue highligheter forcefield. Look at the way the middle part of your R doesnt flow with anything, and how the Two ts are hideous.

I hate to be an asshole, but after seeing your throws i expect better from you.

TAKE SOME TIME ON YOUR SKETCHES PEOPLE, ITS NOT A RACE TO POST UP SOME HALF ASSED DRAWING THAT EVERYONE WILL SHIT ON YOU FOR.

truth, i do like the U, thats it, its simple and effetive, and i guess the H is ok too.

ok so i did olive for the new toy battle but the first piece i did i covered the "L" too much so i drew another one and its really dark. which one do you guys think i should enter for the battle? oh and crits on them would be greatly appreciated.

aw come one my handstyle isnt shit, you see my alphabt a few bages back? just the W's kinda ugly, but at least its different, i have some cheap Laurentian markers that are like prismas, and to get the "whoosh" effect i just pressed really lightly and was confident in my strokes, in the sme direction

I liked the alphabet, but that one doesn't seem as good to me... I think it's because I'm partial to marker handies rather than thinass pen/pencil lines...

Kay, so i&#39;m really new here, and just began my black book yesterday, right now it&#39;s only in pencil because all the paint pens I have with me are too big to go over it, I should be restocking and re-drawing most of them. I thought now would be a perfect time to get some critiques before I wasted a lot of money or time on the "Right" paints and stuff. Yes i&#39;m here for criticism, of the constructive kind.
(P.S. Sorry for the poor quality, the scanners light is messed up or something so everything came out a bit bright, and if i&#39;m ripping off anyones tag (Ibis)please let me know :( )

after looking at this for about 3 minutes after a bong rip of pure thc... i can see drips going up instead of down thru the intersection/conjunction-type areas of each letter and honestly it looks kinda cool to me. add shading etc.

haha thanks man, i liked the original sketch better though, when i used the colour blender it made my fill bleed, so i had to thicken up some of the letter parts to compensate, the Y and some of the S especially

i know man, but my parents just split, all my markers are still at my dads house, so all ive got is one green marker, and when i go over my lines it makes these ugly blothcy marks, i found the highlighter yesterday, its the only other colour i have apart from the green, and i have this set of stingy doller pencils, which suck. im trying my best, i dont have a pencil or rubber or nuthin, its so crap.

in the meantime, i also have my school pencil case (red and blue pen) but the blue pen dont work, so i used the red and drew these today. any crits from anyone

i did a heap of searching around the house and i found a pencil in my sisters room, a black marker in my mums room, and a red paint marker which i left in my backpack. but i dont really like it. i spent heaps of time like an hour or two and when im finished i get disspaointed cause it sucks. anyways, could sumone give me some crits, now i got a pencil im keen to get this lookin better. cheers.

iight skye...well the throws aint horrible i&#39;ve seen much worse. you might wanna make the k look a little bit more like a k and less like and h. as for the painted throw.....horrible. horrible can control n jus horrible looking in general. my advice practice somewhere where no one will see your throwy then hit the streets when your satisfied. also i&#39;d practice on paper a little more before doing walls.

well you my advice would be to bring the bottom right leg of the k out more so its not even with the top leg...also make a little dash along the middle of the k or where ever you feel fit...i would show u what i mean but my scanners broke and my photo shop got deleted. <_< dumbass step dad. anyways just play around with it a little until you get something worthy of going up on a wall.

slaze - i like the bottom one where the 3d comes out over parts of the letters . . good grasp of concnept, you understand a couple of the basic rules but your execution/way you draw the lines is shaky . . . .take your time and use a steady kind of light touch and it might come out cleaner . .

sico - id look to get some straight lines in there to play off the curved ones . . every bar/line bends the same way so the eye gets kinda bored following/tracing the letters . .

if it has paid off then your work before was probably pretty grotesque.

they&#39;re not horrible, but not particularly good either. the 1st and 3rd are ok, but the 2nd picture is gross, i&#39;d advise just getting rid of that style altogether, it&#39;s not going to get you anywhere. in the 1st and 3rd pic, the style&#39;s pretty basic, which is good at first, but try and add your own personal touch to the letters.. that isn&#39;t to say add a bunch of dents and shit or extensions, but try and make the letters look more than just letters, if you know what i mean. someone on here before described the flow of graffiti as &#39;movement&#39; which was a fucking ingenius thing to say, graffiti is letters personified.

try and sketch neater, spend more time on your drawings, be sure of where your lines and curves are going to go, ESPECIALLY if you&#39;re going to put it on a sticker, unless your going for that messy effect which, if you are, is not working for you. on the 1st throw, what looks like an attempt at drop-shadow looks ridiculous, learn how to draw it properly, i really don&#39;t feel like explaining it right now but it&#39;s not too hard to figure out, you&#39;ll get it sooner or later. and i actually really like your handstyle, so no comment there.

Wow. Thats really frusterating to hear. Although the first remark wasnt really called for, I can understand. The second throw I dont like. Your right about that one. The 3rd one was just sloppy, the marker went dry the first time so I went over it again and got that the messy look you were saying. But im not going to make excuses, so. I&#39;m really feeling the 1st one and I want to progress with it. If you had took the time to write all that and give me the advice that you did, give me some tips on a drop shadow. If it&#39;ll help me get better then do it, you&#39;ll be helping me and a few others out too. I appreciate the advice because I know if you didnt see potential you wouldnt have wasted your time critiquing my work.

good that you&#39;re not giving up if its frustrating, at least you have some heart in what you&#39;re doing. yeh i&#39;ve been sick the last few days so i&#39;m in a bitchy mood so, apologies. i&#39;ve explained this quite a few times, but all drop shadow really is is a 2nd layer of the letters underlapped and moved to the side, if that makes sense. most peoples drop-shadow is from the bottom-right or bottom-left.

and for the 1st one the bubbles dont look too realistic or bubble like

^this pic&#39;s really good because it&#39;s from an angle shows that the shadow is just an under-layer of the image, but you generally don&#39;t draw your shadow like this.

bubbles... uhhhh... start with a big "bump" then do a little "bump" or 2 then a big "bump" then a little "bump" and so on and so on.
variate it when you get good and fluid at doing these.
well, this is basically how i do it pretty much.
just make sure that shit looks like bubbles&#33; its really retartedly easy to do anyway.

nah, those look too much like dr seuss drew up some piles of shit


dont stack them like that. try drawing a big circle in pencil, then put two smaller ones on either side of it, slightly overlapping. simplest form of bubbles you can get. dont forget to erase the overlapping lines though

use this, then play around with it a bit

dont quit... make everything porportioned the s is alrite.. ther rest needs alot of work.. copy the letters from the key board, fatten em up a little bit, keep doin till ya get perfect at em, then add one or two extensions.. go from there

im not that good on paper, i tried to get the fundamentals down, then i went to walls

the structure isnt all that bad tho...the only thing i wish i had done with it is made the handstyle thicker
