I've been through a lot in my life: arrested a number of times, gone to jail, been robbed, shot at, bought it, sold it, and smoked it. I started being in the streets in '87 with MSD crew -- Money, Sex, Drugs. It became this posse or gang thing. People made it more than a graffiti crew. I was real young -- about 12 years old.

I don't want to brag about it though. People think you're phony when you talk about how tough you are, how ghetto you are, how you smoke pot, carry a gun and rob people. I was tired of that life so I try to stay quiet. People think they can push you around if you don't shine, but you might just be a teddy bear packed full of TNT, like Tom and Jerry. Everything is between me and God these days.

I'm old fashioned. I like a lot of things from the 80s because it was fun back then. I love listening to the Beatles, going to church, playing Super Nintendo -- those are the only games I'll ever play. I'm not buying Playstation or Xbox -- they're difficult and they've got too many buttons. I got Pacman, Ms. Pacman, Super Mario, Mario All-Stars with all the lost levels, Pinball, F-Zero, Mortal Kombat, and Street Fighter 2. I always got to be Ryu. Ken and Ryu are brothers with the same moves, but Ken's kick goes a little further.

Even though people don't play these games they'll miss them someday. Do you know how many people would die to play Atari 2600 again? But you can't find it anywhere. I miss playing the boxing game, Pole Position, and Strawberry Shortcake. They look like kid games, but they entertain me.

It's embarrassing to have done a lot of bad things. Right now I got love for people. I regret everything I ever did, but I still love graffiti. Since I was converted around '94 I've been memorizing the Bible a lot. I'm learning that salvation doesn't just happen through religion or church. Lots of people go to church, but it's just a building. Religion is just a name, but through Jesus -- well, you know.

I wanted to start writing something positive like Jesus Saves, Jesus Lives, or God is Love or something. People tell me they saw my message on a bad day and got a smile on their face. People tell me, "You stupid contradiction! You go to church and praise God, but you're writing on people's property!". I go to church with a lot of graffiti writers. The Bible doesn't say anything about graffiti being a sin though. It's like drawing on a piece of paper. We're young. We just want to paint. God understands that.

Maybe I'm giving the gospel a bad name. Who knows.

Christians were some of the first people to write graffiti as a form of rebelion when they were pursecuted by the Romans. Everyone writes for a reason small or large, you wont agree with all of them.

im not digging the whole jesus thing... writing jesus saves is only going to incorporate a few people who are christians, and alienate others. i doubt it would bring a smile to your face if you personally saw a sign that said allah is the one true god. stuff like this only incorporates a few people. personally, i think there are truths in all religons, and if you look at all of them, they pretty much preach similar things.

but it brings up dicussion about, is graffiti more than tagging? should religous and political topics be expressed in graffiti form?

i personally think that graffiti, in its essence, is going to offend people and is exclusive to those who appreciate it. i have a much different appreciation for when i see a nice mural, than a business man who sees it on his way to work. if you write jesus saves, then you are not only restricting your audience to those who appreciate graffiti, you exclude those who arent christians. but your goal is probably not appreciation of your work, but the spreading of a message you believe in. my point is, that you&#39;d probably spread your religous message more effectively in a different medium.

Anyways, its kinda cool that he&#39;s gotta religious message behind what he does. At first I just thought it was just a tag...You know, like a name noone gives a fuck bout (like Jew). But I ain&#39;t know it was something to actually think bout. Like in my old neighborhood, there&#39;s like 50 Jesus Saves tags on one block. Me and my friend&#39;s was like its prolly some Jehovah&#39;s witness dude tryna be cool. But then I saw JesusSaves everywhere....So I give him props for being up and different i guess.

i think that politics is a very important element of graffiti, simply because every interaction is a political one in the society we reside in, so politics is important to recognize in the world around you.

In reference to whether or not graff is a sin... The Bible says to obey the laws of the land. So in practical terms it pretty much says that legel walls are alright, but hitting illigal spots is wrong...

My oppinion on this... I like the fact that this dude is representing Christ. BUT I would bet that when the average joe see&#39;s &#39;Jesus Saves&#39; on the interstate he thinks that the person who wrote it is some wacko Christien. Most people in the world don&#39;t understand that graff&#39; in many cases is a movement; that we&#39;re trying&#39; to send a message. I like and agree with this guys ultimate goal, but i think in some cases what he is doing could be counter-productive. :blink:

Just because he writes jesus saves and tells us his story of how he found jesus, we are like hrm, what if writing is a sin? It doesn&#39;t matter does it? We are going to do graffitti or we are not going to do it. Its as simple as that. at first i believed there was a guy named jesus who helped start the most attractive religion at the time (out of the Many previous religions) casue it had a lot to do with the human moral instinct etc...(morals).. was a good speaker etc... but now after researching and listneing to experts on the topic.. like the other dayt a Christian was on the radio for a book he wrote, and he was saying that after his reasearch he concluded that Jesus never even existed.. he just was play on of the stories from the many other religions at that time etc..

I&#39;m really surprised at how many ideas this "Jesus Saves" has brought up. I didnt think alot of other people had a deeper motive to do graffiti like the "Jesus Saves" guy. Props to the people that do this to spread a good word....but im also athiest....but i also believe in spreading an idea for positive feedback....and the political stuff that anza was also incorporatin into his graff also had some good meanin...i dont kno alot of graff writers that put that much thought in their name....and wonderbread...i dig the idea of some people looking at the Jesus Saves as a negative thing.... is this directed to olny christians, or everyone in whole? i dont think it would have much of an impact on anything, because even out of the 10 commandments people break them all the time: using the lords name, coveting, etc..
so sinning is nothing new. everybody sins, even christians. acording to the religion its not up to someone to decide to sin or not, its weather they are humble enough to repent for their sins, and admit their unholyness that will get someone into heaven. you can kill someone and as long as you ask to be forgiven for it you can still go to heaven. furthermore, the catholic church makes it bishops and whoever else to take a vow of celibacy, when jesus precisely said "it is better not to marry but some will not be able to handle the lust adn therefore should" which is most likely the reason little catholic boys get raped all the time. The main passage of scripture they use to justify the whole mary thing says "and jesus said to the disciple, &#39;here is your mother&#39;" and they interpret that to be saying that mary is the mother of God and everybody&#39;s spirituality. but in john 1:1 it says that "in the beginning there was the word(jesus), and the word was with god, and the word WAS god" so i think it&#39;d be pretty hard to be the mother of someone who predates you about infinite number of years. "from spirit is born spirit and from flesh is born flesh". i dont mean to insult anyone..but hey.

As for as graffiti being a sin it probably comes down to your religion. Being a Catholic I was concerned about doing graffiti and whether I was in the wrong.
