Well, you have the means of getting somewhere. You have basic can control and some common sense.

Letter structure is one of the most important steps in creating a solid piece. Practice getting your letters proportionate and balanced by using bars.

Forget about wacky fills like that British/Aussie flag fill you got goin...

So you've got a name and some basic skills, hit the books and run with it...practice, practice, practice.

I say about a 50/50 ratio of blackbook work to paint work. Might as well try and progress at equal rates.

I think your D is good, its original. However, the spike for the middle extension of the E comes out of nowhere. Matching your letters in size is important, as is matching in composition of angles and lines. Not only the E but the K is a different style.
Keep progressing and keep learning and you will build your own style.

I noticed you use white for outlines a lot. Going with dark fills and light outlines can make your eyes see it opposite and fight for control. Like Sher said, try a light fill with a dark outline. It's more natural as far as depth and shadow are concerned.

Go with a solid color for the fill. No more halfsies for a while.

Use simple letter structre for now. That K needs the most work.

Get rid of the drip and the highlights. Work on defining your E to make it look more like an E. The bars have to go a little deeper into the letter. Get rid of the $ sign. SUAVE, right?

First attempt at 3D with simple letters. It needs major improvement. There was 3D on the left side of the 'W' until I cut too close.

Looking for crits on how to keep the same angle going for the 3D. I understand the vanishing point thing but need help on keeping each and every line at let's say, exactly 45' or 30' for each bar...

Rewt - Your T is too close, but 3D-wise, it's pretty good for a first attempt. In my opinion, I think if you set a goal for yourself and only focus on that a million times, you'll get really good at that one thing. Of course, you can do multiple goals at the same time, but the less the better.

If I didn't know your moniker, I wouldn't be able to decipher your throw. It has flow but the structure is weak. Work it a little more and it'll straighten out. I know you ain't a bombin' kinda' man. Good to see it from you though. I do like that 'W', by the way. Some of it is colors though. A black and white might've looked different.
