that is weak man, letter proportions are off, stupid extensions that don't do anything for the piece. Work on some simpler letters, that looks rushed and messy. Spend sometime on it, it is a blackbook there is no need to rush, you can do better than that

They don't take away from it but they also don't do anything for it, if the letters were in proportion and it didn't have the extensions at the top of the letters then it would be pretty solid, the extensions as the bottom of the piece aren't so bad

I think what you say is true, keeping letters the same size is an essential skill to have. However, i feel that graff with rules is kinda boring. So if that is his style, Duke should keep it up. I like that piece.

I think the G sucks and the K is awful too, the E seems like quite a generic shaped E so I wouldn't say it is biting. Es are easy to do, however Gs can be difficult to get funk with. Personally I wouldn't consider it intermediate, more like a better toy.

Sorry if that sounds harsh but this is intermediate so I have decided to be quit strict/harsh on my crits because we should have the basics down now and are working at style and flow

what size blackbook do you use? I use A4 sized but they are generally ring bound ones, I wanna get an A4 landscaped blackbook so I can do extra long pieces with chars, I also have an A3 blackbook but I don't like the paper it is too rough

im not sure what the names of blackbooks are but i got a solid bound 11"x8.5" book. pages are just too small for me to fit long pieces or pieces with characs. i dont like the ring bounds becuase i'm a lefty and i always end up drawing with my hand on the rings.

Look at the angle of your 3D on the extension of your O compared to the bottom of the letters. Also the width at the bottom of the S is almost non existent compared to the other letters. The back of the letter should go into the I parallel and not meet where the letters are stacked (It should look like the I and k).

If that makes sense.

And for all you cel phone picture takers unless you live in a friggin cave at least put a lamp near you so your work gets some proper light!

Alts, Not digging that B too much. I feel the right parts of it are awkward, but what do I know? haha. That A is sick, and i love the first character. I want to see the second one more developed. Your characters remind me of Tiki Men.

See I don't like it, this is intermediate thread to me things should be better in here, I draw about 20 things like that in my day at work, not dissing jup cos I have seen good stuff from him, I just think that people need to be more critical in here and to me that piece is deserving of the toy section as is probably half the stuff that gets posted in this thread, there just doesn't seem to be any quality control of all the people that post in here there are only a handful that I think their stuff isn't sloppy or toy.

real quick sketch from work for some guy who asked me to draw up his name, not a fan of it mainly due to the fact he has a L at the end of it, why anyone would have an L at the end of their name is beyond me so hard to make it flow, I would prefer something curvy to balance out against the R.

I have only improved through practise and from advice given by more experienced writers on 12oz, had some very good writers give me crits n pointers. I don't really hang out with any writers in real life although know a few but rarely talk with them
